He KNOWS us all=He LOVES
Us all=and we should indeed
Be in FEAR of the Lord


“BEHOLD-thus is the man BLESSED
Who fears the Lord” Psalm 128:4


WHEN the bible says
We should FEAR the Lord


I don't really think it
Is SAYING we should be afraid
Or quake in terror


I think it is saying
WE are to be in AWE-
That we should definitely
Be in WONDER-our GOD
Is so AMAZING


“When Jesus had FINISHED
Saying these things


The crowds were AMAZED
At his teaching
Because he taught


As ONE
Who had authority
And not


As their teachers of the law” Matthew 7:28-29


OUR AMAZINGLY AWESOME GOD!


“The DISCIPLES were AMAZED
At his words-
But Jesus said again...........” Mark 10:24


“WHEN the preconsul
Saw what happened


He BELIEVED
For he was AMAZED
At the teachers
About the law” Acts 13:12


For our God is
BEYOND anything
We can UNDERSTAND


Or even IMAGINE


Our God is TRULY AWESOME
HOW can we stay in TOUCH
With this AMAZINGLY AWESOME GOD?


By taking TIME to appreciate
The TALENTS God gives to us
In life=and USING THEM


By attending church service=or
MASS=as often as possible=
Even daily


And-of course-by READING-
Our bibles=every day


How can we NOT be amazed
WHEN we do these things?
How can we not NOTICE
Our AMAZING AWESOME GOD?


“For the Lord=MOST HIGH=
Is awesome


The great King-
OVER all the earth” Psalm 47:2


“He PROVIDED redemption
For his people


He ordained
His COVENANT forever-
Holy and AWESOME-
Is his name” Psalm 11:9


And of course=
We TOUCH GOD'S AWESOMENESS
Through ORDINARY life experiences


FALLING IN LOVE
Holding a newborn
Sunrises and sunsets


The birds-the stars-
And the flowers-
And maybe even=
Just SITTING with a FRIEND

Describes the marvelous multiplication
Of a few loaves of bread
For hungry crowds


And then
We read about
The MIRACLE OF Jesus
Feeding the five thousand
In John chapter 6


“ANOTHER of the disciples-Andrew-
Simon Peter's brother spoke up,


'Here is a boy with
Five small barley loaves
And two small fish
But how far will they go
Among so many?'” John 6:8-9


Plenty far
WHEN you are Jesus
The SON OF GOD
And you can CREATE a miracle


But we MUST REMEMBER
We need NOT be Jesus
We need not be able
To PERFORM large miracles
To make a difference


ONE CAN and does
STILL make a difference
In today's world


We can
GIVE a sick friend
A ride to the Doctor's


We can
Do some grocery shopping
For a house bound friend


There is NO LIMIT
For the things that we can do
TO HELP OTHERS


To make a difference
In today's world


ONE PERSON CAN
And still does
Make a difference
In today's world


For WHAT IF
Our individual gestures and compassion


Our personal prayers
OUR LONE VOICE
For HELPING OTHERS


Was JOINED
By thousands of others
In today's world


For a CHRISTIAN'S
MAIN JOB
Is to
KEEP HOPE ALIVE
In others


And make a difference
For them


“WHY my soul

WHY so disturbed
Within me?


Put your HOPE IN GOD

THE FINAL KICK


I have been ALIVE=now=
For 62+ years


While there have been
MANY close calls
I am STILL alive
And kicking


And I am getting READY
For the FINAL KICK of the race
WITH OUR LORD


And I PLAN on finishing STRONG=
These last 5=20=or 20 years=or
LORD KNOWS how many years
That I may have left in me


Finishing strong=FINISHING the race=
I FEEL like I will have
A strong FINAL KICK


“I have COMPETED well-I have-
FINISHED the race=
I have KEPT THE FAITH” 2 Timothy 4:7


I have LIVED my life
In FAITH=I will COMPLETE my life
In faith


And I plan on finishing STRONG
Finishing the race=
With my FINAL KICK


As a=
WANT-to be- MARATHONER=running
2 Timothy 4:7


Has LONG been
ONE of my favorite readings=
But LIFE is a marathon
And I DESPERATELY
WANT TO finish the race strong

FINAL KICK POSITIVELY


A faster pace SPIRITUALLY
In the end=than in
The beginning


Almost IMPOSSIBLE for me=
But I will TRY


Try to FINISH the race
STRONG

RESPONDING WITH KINDNESS

RESPONDING WITH KINDNESS


ONE THING I have noticed
In life=or at least I think


A person's INNER WORLD IS
NOT so very different than
A person's outer world


“By their fruits
You will KNOW them” Matthew 7:16


YES=maybe that person
That is so cranky and
JUDGMENTAL on the outside


Is the way they are
To THEMSELVES on the inside too


I TRY to keep that in mind
WHEN I see someone
Who is ALWAYS so hypercritical
Of others=and those who
Are always EXPECTING
The most negative of outcomes


THESE are NOT the attributes
Of a peaceful soul


MAYBE=they just NEED a
LITTLE LOVE=maybe they need someone
To RESPOND to them-with
Just a little bit of KINDNESS


“BUT while Joseph
Was there in prison


The Lord was with him
He showed him KINDNESS
And granted him FAVOR


In the eyes of the
PRISON WARDEN” Genesis 39:20-21


“In a surge of anger
I hid my face
FROM you for a moment


But with EVERLASTING KINDNESS
I will have COMPASSION on your


Says the LORD
Your REDEEMER” Isaiah 54:8


These KINDS of people
I believe=are as hypercritical
Of themselves=as they are
Of others


They are UNABLE to
BE compassionate-or even
Forgive themselves


They are UNHAPPY SOULS=
They are NOT able
To be at peace=for
Even ONE moment


IF I can recognize this
In someone=I TRY to
RESPOND IN KINDNESS=respond
With some COMPASSION for them


“CONSIDER therefore
The KINDNESS and sternness
Of God


Sternness to those who fell
But KINDNESS to you
Provided that you
CONTINUE in his kindness” Romans 11:22


“But when the KINDNESS
And LOVE of God
Our Savior APPEARED


He SAVED us-
NOT because of righteous things
We had done


But because of his MERCY” Titus 3:4


And that is what we
Should have-
For these TYPES of people=
MERCY


Dear Lord=WE PRAY=that
We RESPOND with KINDNESS
And COMPASSION=
To those who are suffering


So that they CAN FIND peace
And MERCY for their suffering souls

RIGHT DECISION-in all choices

BLESSINGS and curses


NOW choose life
That you and your children
MAY LIVE


And that you may LOVE
The Lord your God
LISTEN to his voice

Some choices RARELY matter-
Your favorite ice cream-
Your favorite color-just matters
Of PERSONAL PREFERENCE


However=there are=
MANY that do matter


CHOOSE HONESTY over deceit
Choose KINDNESS over cruelty-
HUMILITY over pride
And FIDELITY & LOYALTY
Over infidelity


These are choices that matter
Choices that lead to ETERNAL LIFE
With God our FATHER=and Jesus=his SON


Choose life=ENTER the NARROW GATE


“But if
SERVING the Lord
Seems undesirable to you


Then CHOOSE for yourselves
THIS DAY-
Whom you will serve


Whether the gods
Your ancestors served
Beyond the Euphrates


Or the gods of the Amorites
In whose land you are living


But as for me
And my household
WE WILL SERVE the Lord” Joshua 24:15


Dear Lord=there are
MANY choices for us
In this life


HELP US to make choices
That MATTER=and help us
ENTER through the NARROW GATE


Help us to
TURN AWAY from TEMPTING choices

And these WORDS
Were said to Abraham
As he was setting out
Into an UNKNOWN world


“ALL the communities of the earth
Shall find BLESSING in you” Genesis 12:3


These words are SPOKEN to us
As well today too


We are CALLED to be BLESSINGS
For God in this world
And blessings to others too


BOTH for our families=our friends=
And even strangers


“BLESSINGS crown the head
Of the righteous


But violence
OVERWHELMS the mouth
Of the wicked” Proverbs 10:6


“They were
PLEASED to do it
And indeed
They OWE it to them


For if the GENTILES
Have shared
In the JEWS' spiritual blessings


They owe it to the JEWS
To SHARE with them
Their MATERIAL BLESSINGS” Romans 15:27


YES=we are CALLED=
Called to be a blessing=
BLESSINGS for others


HOPEFULLY=all the FAMILIES
Of the earth
Will find blessings in us


NOT only human families=
But ALL kinds of families=
FLOCKS of birds-fish-flowers
And even stars


ALL creatures=all systems=
Are fashioned by the
LOVE OF GOD


We need to LIVE
With an AWARENESS in GOD'S LOVE
And be members of COMMUNITY


GOD'S CREATION=his creations made
IN LOVE=exists in all of us


We are CALLED
To be BLESSINGS to others
Blessings to God
Blessings to the community
And BLESSINGS
To all of creation


“LET all creation
REJOICE before the Lord


For he comes
To judge the earth


He will JUDGE the world
In righteousness


And the peoples
In his FAITHFULNESS” Psalm 96:13


“Then the KING
Will say
To those on the right,

JOHN THE BAPTIST=MORE AND LESS

MORE & MORE=LESS & LESS
(Saint John the BAPTIST)


TODAY we CELEBRATE the feast
Of Jesus' cousin=JOHN THE BAPTIST


Though John had disciples-
His PURPOSE was NOT to form them
Into a community


In fact, he FAMOUSLY once said,
“HE must become more and MORE-
And I must BECOME less and less” John 3:30


And isn't that=the WAY it should be=
For ALL of us CHRISTIANS


As we grow and mature=Jesus=
God=should become GREATER in
US-and we should=our personal wants
And needs should become-
LESS and less


“TRULY-I tell you-
Among those born of women


There has NOT been anyone
GREATER then John the Baptist


Yet whoever is least
In the kingdom of heaven-
IS greater than he” Matthew 11:11


John was SO GREAT=Jesus=
Even let him=BAPTIZE HIM


“I baptize you with water
For repentance


But after me
COMES one who is
More POWERFUL than I


Whose sandals-
I am NOT worthy
To carry


He will BAPTIZE you
With the HOLY SPIRIT
And fire” Matthew 3:11


John KNEW who he was=
He came to PREPARE the way
For Jesus


After that=he became
Less and less=and let Jesus
Take his ROOTS in him


Just as we should do=
He=more and more=
Us=LESS and less


The name John
Means “GRACIOUSNESS of God”


John was the LAST
Of the old testament prophets


And he APPEARED in the
Desert of Judah
DRESSED like Elijah


Many thought he was
A little bit “MAD”=but he was=
PROPHETIC-in announcing the COMING
Of the Lord


A little bid mad
A WHOLE lot prophetic


John's birth disrupted the
USUAL order of things
And announced


That soon-
There would be ANOTHER-
Who would DEFEAT the old order
For good


“Nor was my name UNKNOWN to you
When I was made in SECRET


When I was fashioned
In the depths of the earth” Psalm 139:15


And Jesus let John KNOW
The JOB was getting done
WHILE he was in prison


“So he REPLIED to the messengers:
'Go back
And REPORT to John


What you have seen
And heard:


The blind receive sight
The lame walk


THOSE who have leprosy
Are cleansed


The deaf=hear
The dead are RAISED


And the GOOD NEWS
Is PROCLAIMED to the poor'” Luke 7:22


Dear FRIEND=like John


We NEED to let Jesus
BECOME MORE AND MORE
In our lives

PREPARING THE WAY

PREPARING THE WAY




The word ADVENT
Means “coming”


It is a time
Of expectant waiting and celebration
For the coming of Jesus
At Christmas


2,000 years ago
The preparation for the coming of Jesus
Was done by his family member
His cousin-John the Baptist


John baptized Jesus
In the Jordan river
They both saw:


“A spirit descending on him
Like a dove”-and heard a voice
Coming from heaven saying:


“You are my son
Whom I love
With you I am well pleased” Mark 1:10-11


Now over 2,000 years later
As Jesus is coming again
It is up to
Each and everyone of us
To prepare room in our hearts
For him


Prepare room in our hearts
For his love
Prepare room in our hearts
For his forgiveness of us
And prepare room in our hearts
For his kindness to touch us


And at this special time of year
Take those same qualities
LOVE-FORGIVENESS-and KINDNESS
And pass them on to others


“PREPARE to meet your God-Oh Israel” Amos 4:12


Prepare in us
A CLEAN heart oh God
And put a NEW AND RIGHT spirit within us


Prepare a heart in us
A heart FULL OF LOVE
As we await our Lord and Savior


“No eye has seen
Nor ear has heard
No mind has conceived
What God has PREPARED
For those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9


Prepare in us
A heart FULL OF FORGIVENESS
As we await your forgiveness for us
As YOU enter into this world
AGAIN THIS YEAR


“You prepare a table before me
In the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil
My cup overflows


SURELY GOODNESS AND LOVE
Will FOLLOW me
ALL the days of my life
And I will dwell

Has long been an image
Of LOVE=and today=
The feast of the SACRED HEART OF JESUS


Invites us to REMEMBER
The FULLNESS of love
That Jesus had for us


It CALLS us to remember
The OVERFLOWING compassion and
SELFLESS dedication=that poured forth
From the HEART of Jesus


“My HEART-O God-is steadfast-
I will SING and make music

“LISTEN my son
And be wise
And SET your HEART
On the right path” Proverbs 23:19


“You breed of vipers-
HOW can you-
Who are evil


Say anything good?


For the MOUTH speaks
What the HEART is FULL OF” Matthew 12:34


And Jesus HAD a heart
FULL OF LOVE
He SPOKE mostly love-
For GOD IS LOVE


The HEART most full
OF LOVE=


The ONE who HEALED the sick
Gave SIGHT to the blind-and-
DID so much GOOD for others


We need to FOLLOW HIM-
In HOW we live our lives-
And LIVE our lives with LOVE


We NEED to FOLLOW the man-and-
The SON OF GOD Jesus=
The ONE who had the
MOST LOVE


“SURELY your goodness and love
Will FOLLOW ME
All the days
Of my life


And I will DWELL
In the hose of the Lord-
FOREVER” Psalm 23:6


“COME-FOLLOW ME,'
Jesus said,
'And I will SEND you out
To FISH for people'” Matthew 4:19-20


That IS still our JOB TODAY


And TODAY=on the FEAST-
Of the SACRED HEART OF Jesus


We MUST REMEMBER THAT-
There is still great POWER
In the SACRED HEART of Jesus


Power to INSPIRE and RESTORE
RELATIONSHIPS with him and God-
HIS FATHER


Let us remember that JESUS' HEART-
Is the ONE MOST FULL OF LOVE


And FOLLOW HIM


Follow him all the WAY HOME
To a RESTORED relationship with him
And God his FATHER

With ISIS-and terrorism


NO RESPECT for life there


We live in a nation
With multitudes of killings
In every city
In the United States


No respect for life here


HOW CAN we say no
To life
WHEN our God
Has said YES


RESPECT LIFE
All life is SACRED
Respect all life


Be the EXAMPLE of God-
FOR LIFE-for others


“For whoever
Wants to save their life
Will lose it


But whoever
Loses their life for me
And the gospel will SAVE IT” Mark 8:35


“Just as the living Father
Sent me


And I live because of
The FATHER


So the one
Who feeds on me
Will LIVE
Because of me” John 6:57


I think about
My death bed PROMISE-daily


“To LIVE for my family-friends-
And ALL PEOPLE everywhere”


With GOD'S STRENGTH
I have lived 39 additional years
Since the promise

We are all DEPENDENT on
Our Father=God=so was Jesus=

For Jesus had the DIVINE CONNECTION

REACHING OUT to his FATHER-
In prayer


So much so=that he goes on

On God


In fact=MOST of us
Were taught=the OUR FATHER=
At a very young age-

And how OFTEN=I remember=
Kneeling down BESIDE my bed-
Lowering my head-and PRAYING-
To our FATHER


THE LORD OUR GOD


I was=I am=
DEPENDING on our Father=GOD=
ALL the days of my life
From a young boy


And probably you are too=since
You were a young girl or boy


“MY salvation and my honor
DEPEND on God


He is my mighty rock=
My refuge” Psalm 62:7


“Leave your fatherless children
I will KEEP them ALIVE


Your widow too
CAN DEPEND on me” Jeremiah 49:11


Yes sir=We can ALL
DEPEND on God=
Depend on God our FATHER


“Our Father-
Who art in HEAVEN........,”


Eventually we came
To KNOW these words
By HEART


And as the years PASSED
We came to
TAKE these words TO HEART


And we NEVER lost awareness
Of our DEPENDENCY
On God OUR FATHER


DEPENDING on our FATHER=GOD


“As a Father-
Has compassion
On his children


So the Lord
Has COMPASSION
On those
Who fear him” Psalm 103:13


“LISTEN to your Father-
Who gave you LIFE


And do not despise
Your mother
WHEN she gets old” Proverbs 23:22


“ALL things have been committed
To me
By my Father


NO ONE knows-the Son-
Except the Father


And no one knows the FATHER-
EXCEPT the Son


And those to whom-
The SON chooses to REVEAL him” Matthew 11:27

We WORSHIP an abundant God=

How much MORE
Did GOD'S GRACE

That CAME by the grace

YES!=our God=our Jesus=
GIVES GRACE to us-
In an abundance


There is a wrinkle though
We just NEVER KNOW
HOW that grace will come=or when


It may come in a
DIFFERENT WAY
Than we are expecting


But the CERTAINTY IS=if
we ASK for it=
The grace will come
IN ABUNDANCE


“You let people
Ride OVER our heads


We went through
Fire and water


But you BROUGHT US
To a place of abundance” Psalm 66:12


“Whoever has
Will be GIVEN more


And they will-

RICH IN LOVE


There are ALL sorts and KINDS
Of RICHES in this world


But the ONE we should
All STRIVE for=is to be=
RICH IN LOVE


Rich in FAMILY=rich in FRIENDS=
And rich in LOVE of others
(And HOPEFULLY others to us)


“For you KNOW the gracious act
Of OUR LORD Jesus Christ


That for your sake
He became poor-

Jesus was the RICHEST man
That ever lived=the richest in LOVE
So much so
That almost EVERYONE-

WE would do well

FINANCIALLY=the SON of a carpenter
In a working class family


RICH in LOVE=poor financially=
But HAPPY in what he was=
The SON OF GOD


We should ALL be so lucky=
And be HAPPY

And REJOICE before God

May they be HAPPY
And joyful” Psalm 68:3


“A HAPPY heart
Makes the face cheerful


But heartache-

I have KNOWN some rich people
In my life


I have found that wealth-by itself-
Does NOT bring happiness
Not even=winning the LOTTERY


We should STRIVE to be=
RICH IN LOVE=like Christ=
LIKE the LORD Our God


“The Lord is GRACIOUS=
And COMPASSIONATE


Slow to anger-and
RICH IN LOVE” Psalm 145:8


“I know your afflictions
And your poverty


Yet you are RICH” Revelation 2:9


We DON'T NEED the lottery-
We are “RICH” because
Of the LOVE of God and CHRIST


We just NEED
To DO our part


ENRICH our spirit
Be rich in KINDNESS-

Dear Lord=You became POOR=

GOD'S TRUTHFULNESS=
AT ALL COSTS


The LORD Jesus-was so TRUTHFUL
That he would NOT lie
To SAVE his own life


He KNEW=who he was=
The SON OF GOD=and would not lie
To save his own life


“'You are a KING-then!,' said Pilate”
“Jesus answered,-
'You say-
That I am a king-
In FACT-the reason I was BORN


And CAME into the world-
Is to TESTIFY to the truth


EVERYONE-on the side
Of TRUTH-
LISTENS TO ME” John 18:37


Jesus GAVE his life
For HIS TRUTHFULNESS and the fact
That he CANNOT lie


And then we have KING DAVID=who was
A man AFTER GOD'S own heart=
And paid a price


And finally we have PAUL-
Whose list of HARDSHIPS-
And what he ENDURED
For the GOSPEL-
Is daunting


GOD'S TRUTHFULNESS at all costs!


“We are TREATED
As deceivers-
And yet are TRUTHFUL” 2 Corinthians 6:8


“IF my falsehood ENHANCES
GOD'S TRUTHFULNESS-and
So increases his GLORY


WHY am I still condemned
A sinner?” Romans 3:7


And WHY are we?
And would we go THROUGH
What Paul did-
To BRING GOD'S TRUTHFULNESS
To the masses-to the GENTILES


I SURE HOPE that we would-
Because God's message DEPENDS on us
His MODERN day apostles


Is our love SO DEEP in us-
That our kindness-our PURITY-
OUR LOVE for Christ


Would outlast imprisonment-
Riots-and beatings?


PROBABLY few if any of us-
Could do what Paul did


GOD'S TRUTHFULNESS AT ALL COSTS!


And PROMINENT on Paul's list of virtues
Is speaking the truth=TRUTHFULNESS


God CANNOT lie=and Paul as one
Of Jesus' disciples-
Could NOT lie either


HOPEFULLY=NONE of us can lie either


“I SPEAK the truth
In Christ-my conscience
CONFIRMS IT


Through the Holy SPIRIT-
I have great sorrow-
And unceasing anguish in my HEART” Romans 9:1-2


“Therefore-
Let us KEEP the FESTIVAL-
NOT with the old bread leavened-


With malice and wickedness-
But with the UNLEAVENED bread

Throughout Jesus’ life
He kept an open running dialogue
With God, his Father
There was NEVER a time
That they weren’t connected


We all
Have had earthly fathers
Some good---some bad
Some of us still connected with them
Some not
Some alive---some dead


But ultimately
We ALL come from the same father
The Father of Jesus
The Father of us too
THE GOD OF LOVE


“For you did not receive
A spirit that makes you a slave again
To fear
But you received the Spirit of Son ship
And by him we cry “ABBA FATHER” Romans 8: 15 & 16


The spirit himself
Testifies with our spirit
That we are God’s Children


But what does it mean
To be a Child of God
In today’s world


It means
That though we may disappoint God
That though we may let him down
He is always
Going to continue to love us
Like most earthly parents do
For their children
Or at least---
Try to do


“Because you are Sons
God sent the Spirit of his Son
Into our hearts
The spirit who calls out,
“Abba Father”
You are no longer a slave
But a Son
And since you are a Son ( and Daughter )
God had made you an heir” Galatians 4:6-7


Can you imagine
We are heirs
Heirs to an unconditional love
A love that we can never lose
Heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven
Heirs for eternity---Heirs to God---The King of Love

As we honor our earthly fathers

There USED to be
A LINE in a song

Kill another person=
Over their politics


Jesus was LOVE=is love=and
FOREVER will be love


We NEED him=we need LOVE-
MORE than ever today

“THIS is the covenant
I will ESTABLISH
With the people of Israel


After that time
DECLARES the Lord

But obeying laws is
NEVER ENOUGH
We MUST attempt to be LOVE
As CHRIST was love

The SPIRIT of the law

The first two commandments
Are SUMMED up in
LOVING our MAKER
And loving EVERY other being


That IS who Christ was

The letter brings death
And is composed of words
But the Spirit is
COMPOSED of BREATH
And BRINGS LIFE


And NURTURES the LIFE of God
That is within us


You cannot kill PERFECT love
JESUS' life PROVED that


Love brings life


“You make KNOWN to me
The PATH of life


You fill me
With JOY in the presence
With eternal pleasures

Our TASK
Is to BRING LIFE
To those we MINISTER


TO BRING HOPE


We MUST be filled with the SPIRIT
The Spirit that GIVES LIFE to the law


Don't get me wrong
We need RULES in this world
But rules alone don't do it


Just look at our prison system


We NEED to bring OUR LOVE
To this world-
Because our love WON'T FAIL

JOURNAL/LIFE IS A MARATHON




“For a thousand years IN YOUR SIGHT are as yesterday” Psalm 90:4


IF you get some time-READ psalm 90-in its ENTIRETY-it is about the fragility of HUMAN LIFE


MANY of us would NEVER think of it-but our MOST PRECIOUS asset is our TIME-when we are young-this RARELY comes to mind-


I GUESS-because I have come so CLOSE to death-I am ACUTELY aware of it-LIFE AND TIME should never be taken for granted-life and time do NOT last forever-SET YOUR PRIORITIES-for me it is GOD AND FAMILY first-ALWAYS-and FRIENDS


DEAR LORD-it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in your life for us-and a GREAT DAY to give OUR LIFE AND TIME back to you-WE HONOR YOU by dedicating our life to you and by SPENDING TIME with you-each day of our lives

LIFE IS A MARATHON






When I was younger
One of my goals
In my life
Was to run
And complete the marathon


I got hit
With my illness
When I was 22
And have never had
The energy to do it


What I found out was
That I am still running a marathon
Just a different kind of marathon
---a spiritual marathon


A marathon---in which
We are to find God
Both in others
And in ourselves


“But those who hope
In the Lord
Will renew their strength
They will soar on wings like eagles
They will run
And not grow weary
They will walk and not be faint”


For those of you
Who actually do run marathons---physically
How great would that be


But ALL of us
Are on a spiritual journey through life


Age and illness wear us down
Financial struggles leave us breathing hard
Difficult relationships and people
Sometimes leave us feeling empty


“They will run
And not grow weary
They will walk and not be faint”


Are you serious Lord
How can that be


Love God and love others


“And as for you, brother,
Never tire of doing what is right” 2 Thessalonians 3:13


I believe
If we really and truly do this
Always do---or at least try to do---
What is right


We will
Finish the race
We will complete this marathon
We call life


“I have fought
The good fight
I have finished the race
I have kept the FAITH” 2 Timothy 4:7


With the help and grace of GOD

In our words and in our actions


The SAINTS were great witnesses-
To God and to Christ
The ONE most recently-was-
Mother Teresa


You and I are NOT
Mother Teresa-but we can STILL
DO whatever we can-
For WHOEVER we can


That is OUR witness to God=
That is our WITNESS
To Christ=that is our witness
To LOVE and to EACH OTHER


We TOO can glorify God
With our actions and with our words

THE LORD did it for us

KINDNESS AND MERCY

KINDNESS AND MERCY




Our Lord is merciful
And kind
There is NO DOUBT
About that


For IF we were judged
According to our deeds
And actions
None of us
Would stand a chance


“Lord-let your MERCY
Come to me-Oh Lord” Psalm 119:41


OUR LORD is kind and merciful
To ALL


And kindness-compassion-and LOVE
Are some of Jesus' greatest qualities


ALWAYS making TIME for others
Always performing MIRACLE-after-miracle
For people


And giving his life up
IN LOVE AND KINDNESS
For us all


“BE KIND and compassionate
To one another


FORGIVING each other


Just as Christ God
FORGAVE YOU” Ephesians 4:32


And we are to
BE KIND and compassionate
To all
Just as Jesus was


“And the Lord's servant
Must NOT quarrel


Instead
He must be kind
To everyone


Able to teach
NOT resentful” Titus 2:24


And we
MUST be merciful
To all


Just as God and Christ
IS MERCIFUL
TO ALL OF US


The problem with us
Is that we want
A certain kind of
SELF-tailored MERCY
And MISS the many mercies
God extends to us everyday


We want a FRIEND
With whom we feel comfortable
A FRIEND that gives our heart
Ease and joy


So we look PAST
The neighbor
Who is pesky, ignorant,
And unattractive


But we must REMEMBER
To extend our mercy
And FRIENDSHIP to all


Just as OUR Lord
And SAVIOR did


Just as GOD DOES


“MERCY TRIUMPHS OVER JUDGMENT” James 2:13


Dear Lord-WE PRAY
That you send your mercy
OUR WAY


So that we can
OPEN our hearts
And BE KIND and MERCIFUL to others


As God
IS so kind and merciful to us


And if we did that


“SURELY goodness and love
WILL FOLLOW US
ALL the days of our life


And we will DWELL
IN the HOUSE of the Lord
FOREVER” Psalm 23:6

ENCOURAGE-DON'T LIMIT-
EACH OTHER


“WHERE did this man
Get such wisdom and mighty deeds?
Is he not
The carpenter's son?” Matthew 13;54-55


Jesus was God's SON
He could work miracles
On anyone-anywhere-but there


He was a PROPHET
Without honor
In his hometown of Nazareth


And because the people
KNEW his father and mother
They imposed their limits on him


They had NO FAITH in him
And he could
NOT perform any miracles there


But our job as Christians
IS to give one another HOPE
To ENCOURAGE one another


That is what Jesus
Did for everyone


And that is what we are
To do for other Christians too


“FINALLY-brothers-sisters-REJOICE!


Strive for full restoration
ENCOURAGE one another


BE of one mind
Live in peace


And the God of love
And peace
Will be with you” 2 Corinthians 13:11


And ENCOURAGE
That is what
My mother and father did


For my two sisters and myself


We were TAUGHT TO BELIEVE
That we could do anything
We set our mind too


And we do BELIEVE that
Just like our parents wanted


GIVE people hope
BUILD them up
That is our job-as CHRISTIANS
Don't limit them


“NOW I commit you
To God


And to the word
Of his grace


Which can BUILD YOU UP
And give you an inheritance


Among all those
Who are sanctified” Acts 20:32


IF GOD is for us
If our FAMILY is for us
If our friends are for us


What does it matter
Who or what is against us


MOST OF ALL
IF we believe in God and Jesus
And we believe in ourselves


WE CAN get it done


“Each of us
Should please our neighbors
For their good
TO BUILD THEM UP” Romans 15:2


So BUILD each other up
IN LOVE


DON'T discourage or LIMIT one another
WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER


Finally-
If God
Gives us the freedom
And the HOPE to succeed
Who are we
To limit one another

LET US BE GENEROUS OF SPIRIT


There are ALL TYPES of ways
To GIVE of ourselves
In this world


OUR time-our money-OUR PRAYERS-
Sometimes just our own-
GENEROUS SPIRIT


“MANY rich people
Put in LARGE sums


A poor WIDOW also came
And put in two SMALL COINS
Worth a few cents” Mark 12:41-42


We all have different TALENTS-
And different amounts-
To GIVE to this world


As long as we GIVE-
What we can-in WHATEVER WAY-
That we can
We are DOING our part


In today's readings=the ANGEL-Raphael-
Tells Tobit-
ALMSGIVING is better than
Prayer and fasting


And the POOR WIDOW-
GAVE more than any
Of the wealthy donors-because-
She gave her all


WE should always give
ALL we can-in all the ways
Of our lives


Let us be GENEROUS OF SPIRIT
In giving ALL that we can


“All day long-
He craves for more


But the RIGHTEOUS GIVE
Without sparing” Proverbs 21:26


“In EVERYTHING I did-
I showed you that
By this kind of hard work


We MUST HELP the weak
Remembering the words
The Lord Jesus himself said:


'It is MORE BLESSED to give
Than to receive'” Acts 20:35


“But since you EXCEL-
In everything-


In faith-in speech-
In knowledge-in complete earnestness


And in the LOVE-
We have KINDLED in you
SEE that you also excel-


In this GRACE OF GIVING” 2 Corinthians 8:7


Let us be GENEROUS-
IN SPIRIT-in every walk
Of our lives


Dear Lord-we PRAY-
That we be LESS calculating-
And more SPONTANEOUS in giving=
In whatever FORM that that is


And that we BE GENEROUS


“GOOD will come
To those who are GENEROUS
And lend freely


Who conduct their affairs
IN JUSTICE” Psalm 112:5


“A generous PERSON
Will prosper


Whoever REFRESHES others
WILL BE REFRESHED” Proverbs 11:25


Dear Lord we pray=HELP US
To be GENEROUS IN SPIRIT-
By GIVING all that we can


By giving a helping HAND-
WORDS of praise-
A listening ear-
Doing small FAVORS for others
And financial contributions-
WHEN WE CAN


We do THIS=in YOUR NAME O Lord-
And OFFER it up to you

ON SOLID GROUND

ON SOLID GROUND


Jesus' feet WERE
Always on SOLID GROUND


He was probably the MOST HUMBLE man
Who ever lived=whose greatness
GREW out of his humility
And his SUFFERING


How about you? Are your
FEET on solid ground?


I think our SOULS
Can best PRAISE the Lord-
WHEN we are STRIVING
To LIVE in the virtue-
Of HUMILITY=just like Jesus=
Himself did


“PRAISE the Lord-o my soul-
I will PRAISE the Lord
ALL my life


I will SING praise
To God-while I live” Psalm 146:1-2


The word-HUMILITY-
Comes from the Latin word-humus-
Which means GROUND


Indicating one's feet-
Are on SOLID GROUND


Or MAYBE the fact-
That we are REAL-
The way Jesus ALWAYS was


The way you and I
HOPE to be


We KNOW where we stand


“These are a
SHADOW of the things
That were to come


The REALITY-however-
Is FOUND in Christ” Colossians 2:17


YES-Jesus-the MOST REAL MAN-
That ever WALKED this earth-
The most humble man
WHOEVER LIVED


ALWAYS ON SOLID GROUND


The VIRTUE of humility=REQUIRES
Many qualities


Qualities like: mildness-TOLERANCE for others-
Being modest-UNPRETENDING-agreeable-
NO arrogance-and PATIENCE


It is EASY to be attracted-
To a person-with these qualities


That is WHY=I am in LOVE
With Jesus=my Lord and SAVIOR=
The most HUMBLE man-
Whoever lived


“He GUIDES the humble
In what is right


And teaches them=HIS WAY” Psalm 25:9


“TAKE my yoke upon you
And LEARN from me


For I am GENTLE
And HUMBLE in heart
And you will find REST
For your souls” Matthew 11:29


“For those
Who EXALT themselves
Will be humbled


And the who HUMBLE themselves
WILL BE exalted” Matthew 23:12


Yes-JESUS' FEET-
Were always on SOLID ground
He followed a HUMBLE WAY
Of living-
And we=should LEARN from him


SOMETIMES-people mistake humility-
For weakness-but in REALITY-
It is a QUALITY of great strength


It is-
An ATTITUDE of mind=
DON'T BE overly impressed-
With your own importance


GOD LOVES YOU! Jesus loves you!
-And you are IMPORTANT to them


Dear Jesus=MEEK & HUMBLE OF HEART=
ALL PRAISE and all glory and honor TO YOU


Our feet too=
ARE on SOLID GROUND IN YOU

The book of Tobit is
NOT a historical book=
It IS and extended PARABLE
That explains the SPIRITUAL TRUTHS
Of life


“My love-get up-
Let us pray and BEG our Lord
To have MERCY on us.........” Tobit 8:4


Today we read about Tobit's son=
Tobiah=who is ANXIOUS to get married


So Tobit SENDS him-
ACCOMPANIED by the angel=Raphael=
To Tobit's relative-Raguel-
Who has a BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER-
By the name of Sarah


Raguel AGREES to LET Sarah
Marry Tobiah-but he has
Some BAD NEWS for Tobiah


Sarah has been married-
SEVEN times before
And EACH time an attempt


Was made to CONSUMMATE the marriage
The man was STRUCK DEAD


The POWER OF PRAYER
The power TO CHANGE LIVES


So Tobiah and Sarah get MARRIED-
BUT before they
TRY to consummate the marriage


They KNEEL DOWN
To OFFER a beautiful PRAYER to God
FOR BLESSINGS


In the MORNING-they are asleep
In EACH OTHER'S arms


What a story
What a WONDERFUL TESTIMONY
To the POWER of PRAYER


What MIRACLE do you need?
HOW CAN prayer CHANGE your life?


“The Lord
Has HEARD my cry for MERCY


The Lord-
ACCEPTS MY PRAYER” Psalm 6:9


“The Lord
Is FAR from the wicked


But he HEARS the PRAYER
Of the righteous” Proverbs 15:29


“If you BELIEVE-you will receive
WHATEVER you ask for
In prayer” Matthew 21:22


The LORD has CHANGED my life
From ONE of trying to do
Everything by MYSELF


To one of DEPENDING-on God
Family-friends-churches-and
TRUSTING THE LORD


My life-has been-
CHANGED through PRAYER
And all of my needs are FULFILLED


“IF you really CHANGE your ways-
And your actions-
And deal with each other
….............” Jeremiah 7:6


YES-I have CHANGED my ways=
I have TURNED to the Lord


I PRAY to him daily=and PRAISE him=
And GIVE THANKS to him


The Lord has CHANGED
My life=from what was IMPOSSIBLE=
To WHAT IS POSSIBLE


PRAYER CHANGES LIVES
HOW has prayer CHANGED
Your life? What TESTIMONY
CAN YOU GIVE?


Or=HOW can it change your life?
TRY IT and see

SEEING THE SUNLIGHT OF GOD

SEEING THE SUNLIGHT OF GOD


TODAY=in this world=
Many of us have problems
With our eyes-that may give us
VISION PROBLEMS


Many of us even have cataracts=
That REQUIRE eye surgery=
That was what Tobit's problem was


“........to REMOVE
The cataracts from Tobit's eyes


So that he might again
SEE GOD'S SUNLIGHT” Tobit 3:17


Cataracts cloud our vision-
And IF we allow them to progress-
It can cause total blindness


With CORRECTIVE surgery=we can SEE AGAIN
We can EVEN get
Our driver's license back


But what is PREVENTING YOU
From seeing the SUNLIGHT of God?


Is it materialism? UNFORGIVENESS?
Negativity? Or even OLD WOUNDS-
From your PAST-that you just can't seem
To let go of?


SEEING THE SUNLIGHT OF GOD


Seeing the SUNLIGHT of God
IN this world


“For the Lord God
Is a SUN
And shield


The Lord BESTOWS favor
And honor


No good thing
Does he withhold
From those whose walk
Is blameless” Psalm 84:11


“The path of the RIGHTEOUS
Is LIKE the morning sun


SHINING ever brighter
TILL the full light of day” Proverbs 4:18”


“Then the RIGHTEOUS
Will shine
Like the SUN


In the kingdom
Of their Father


Whoever has ears-
Let them hear” Matthew 13:43


SEE-the SUNLIGHT-of GOD
How PLEASING to the soul
How pleasing to the eyes


NOTHING can keep you-
From the FULLNESS of God
If you want to live
In his grace


MAKE an appointment with the HOLY SPIRIT
Confess=whatever is keeping you=
From seeing the SUNLIGHT of God


God and Jesus want you to SEE AGAIN
-Want you to have 20/20 vision-
And the VISION of God


“But EVERYTHING-
EXPOSED by the light
Becomes VISIBLE


And everything that is ILLUMINATED
BECOMES a light” Ephesians 5:13


Dear Lord=HELP US to see
The world-in the SUNLIGHT of God


By praying daily-
GOING to Sunday MASS/service
And DAILY Scriptural reading


Dear Lord=we pray=
That we MAY see this world


And see and INTERACT with others
With the SUNLIGHT OF GOD


Dear Lord=we PRAY=
That we may SEE AGAIN
