OVERCOMING OUR FEARS


FEAR is defined=
“As an UNPLEASANT emotion
Caused by the BELIEF
That someone or something


Is dangerous
Likely to cause pain
Or a THREAT”


SOME of our fears our rational-
But some of our fears
Are COMPLETELY IRRATIONAL


About something that is
NEVER going to happen


Jesus tells us=
“Do NOT let your hearts
Be troubled or afraid” John 14:27


The TRUTH is=that when
We are CLOSE to God=
When we are close to Jesus
We can OVERCOME anything
BOTH real and imagined


It just takes
A little BIT OF FAITH


“'If you can'=said Jesus=
'EVERYTHING is possible
For the ONE who believes'


“Immediately the boy's father exclaimed=
'I DO BELIEVE
Help me OVERCOME
My unbelief'” Mark 9:23-24


“........For everyone BORN of God
OVERCOMES the world


This is the VICTORY
That has OVERCOME
The world=
Even our faith


WHO is it
That overcomes the world?


ONLY the ONE
That believes=that Jesus
IS the SON of God” 1 John 5:4-5


Yes we can OVERCOME everything
Even FEAR=rational or irrational
With OUR FAITH in God
And our faith in Jesus


Take steps to GREATER freedom
Through God and Jesus
By PRAYING to God


And asking him to take=AWAY=
Our useless fears


TURN to others
Whose faith is STRONG
And learn from them


Seek PROFESSIONAL HELP
If you feel it is
Necessary=NO SHAME in that


MOST of all=OPEN YOUR HEARTS
To God and Jesus


To receive the PEACE
That you can RECEIVE
Only through Jesus


“TURN form evil
And do good
SEEK PEACE and pursue it” Psalm 34:14


“Therefore=since we have
Been JUSTIFIED
Through FAITH


We have PEACE with God
THOUGH our Lord Jesus Christ........” Romans 5:1


Put more TRUST in God
HE LOVES YOU=and you
Will FIND


Most of the time
Your fear is UNFOUNDED
Or overestimated


REACH out to the Lord
In FAITH=and OVERCOME your fears


In Jesus' name=and
The name of our HEAVENLY FATHER

GOD LOVE YOU AND SO DO I

GOD LOVES YOU!-
and so do I




I often tell people-
“GOD LOVES YOU!-
And so do I”


Imagine-my surprise
WHEN I ran across
That very saying
At a Christian book store
On plaques and coffee cups


Needless to say
I bought a couple


I have also ran across
That saying
In religious books-poems-banners-
And bumper stickers


DO YOU really believe that
GOD DOES love you
And more importantly
DO YOU LOVE GOD
And
Do you remain LOYAL to the Lord


“AS the Father loves me-
So I also love you
REMAIN in my love” John 15:9


The message that
“GOD LOVES YOU!”
Should make us feel
At peace
And make it easier
For us
To RETURN our love to God


By the way
SO DO I


That is what
As Christians
We are called to do
Jesus said: “LOVE ONE ANOTHER” John 15:12


So I ask you again
Do you love God
And do you LOVE OTHERS


Do you STILL LOVE God
WHEN some tragedy or illness strikes
Or when someone CLOSE to you passes away


Do I QUESTION my love
For God
In these moments
Or do I REMAIN
LOYAL TO GOD


“And HOPE (in God)
Does not disappoint us
Because God has POURED OUT
His love
Into our hearts
By the Holy Spirit
Whom he has GIVEN US” Romans 5:5


And while
We are LOVING ONE ANOTHER
Let us remember
That the ancient Greek philosophy
USED three words to express LOVE


Philia-is a common friendship-
KIND OF LOVE


Eros-is an affection
Or sexual kind of love


And AGAPE is an
UNCONDITIONAL kind of love


The kind of love
GOD has for us
And the kind of love
(IF we are TRUE CHRISTIANS)
We are to have for each other
AS CHRIST'S DISCIPLES


“Let NO DEBT remain outstanding
Except the CONTINUING DEBT
To LOVE one another


For he who loves
His fellow man
Has FULFILLED the law” Romans 13:8


SO CONTINUE to love God
And each other


Through illness and physical pain
Through financial hardship
And through relationship difficulties


BE CONSISTENT to this
In good times and bad


What could be
More unconditional than that


GOD LOVES YOU!
And so do I


Today-and every day
OF YOUR LIFE

JOY IS THE ANSWER

 

 

 

 

 

JOY IS THE ANSWER

 

There are many DIFFERENT

KINDS of problems in

Jesus’ CHURCH TODAY

 

Approximately=over 40,000 CHRISTIAN churches=

And Christians are being targeted

And persecuted by terrorists and dictators

 

NOT to mention being ridiculed=

Discriminated against for our own

PERSONAL beliefs

 

But JOY has always been=and will

CONTINUE to be the ANSWER

To all of life’s problems

 

“There was GREAT JOY

In that city”                                                                                                                            Acts 8:8

 

Joy has always been the RESPONSE=

Because the persecution has

Always produced “GREAT JOY”

Jesus’ crucifixion led to the

RESURRECTION=Saul=a persecutor himself

Became Paul=the great EVENGELIST

 

And the apostles=

Who scattered in fear

 

PREACHED the WORD=and

Performed miracles=leading to

The good news

Being SPREAD far and wide

 

JOY is always the ANSWER

To the CHURCH’S PROBLEMS

 

And to our own personal problems=

Be it health=money=relationships=

Or discrimination problems

 

“God has ASCENDED

Amid shouts of JOY

 

The Lord amid

The sounding of trumpets”                                                                                               Psalm 47:5

 

“The Father of

A righteous child

Has great JOY

 

A man

Who fathers a wise son

REJOICES in him”                                                                                                                Proverbs 23:24

 

“……..so that

I may come to you

With JOY

 

By God’s will

And in your company

Be REFRESHED

 

The GOD of peace

Be with you all=amen”                                                                                                            Romans 15:32-33

 

We should NEVER welcome=

Nor stand for persecution

 

But we SEE that

God always BRINGS JOY and

GOOD from it

 

I have NO DOUBT

That GOOD things are COMING

For the CHURCH=and ALL

Of its problems

 

“TASTE and see

That the Lord is GOOD

BLESSED is the one

Who takes refuge in him”                                                                                                  Psalm 34:8

 

So don’t become afraid

Or discouraged about the

Church’s problems=or

 

Your own personal problems=

For JOY IS THE ANSWER

 

And JOY

IS ON ITS WAY

 

In the name of Jesus’ victory

LIFE IS A RISKY BUSINESS

 

 

 

 

 

LIFE IS A RISKY BUSINESS

 

Wherever we go to in LIFE=or

Wherever we are= we are

AT RISK

 

At homes=in our jobs=in our

Automobiles=or EVEN

Walking on the street

 

Life is a RISKY BUSINESS=trials

Come through health crisis=

Through financial problems=and in ALL

Kinds of relationships

 

“Into your hands=

I commend MY SPIRIT”                                                                                               Psalm 31:6

 

When those RISKS come=let us

TURN to God=like Jesus did

 

Let us FIND our security=our

REFUGE=in God and in Jesus=

Who are the very

BREAD OF LIFE

 

Life is always a risk=be prepared

To TURN to God=

 

 

For we NEVER KNOW

What risks

Are GOING to come

OUR WAY

 

“To you Lord=I CALL

You are my ROCK

Do not

 

TURN a deaf ear

To me

 

For=if you

Remain SILENT

I will be

 

Like those

Who go down to the pit”                                                                                                          Psalm 28:1

 

“Let the wicked

FORSAKE their ways

And the unrighteous

Their thoughts

 

Let them

TURN to the Lord

And he

 

WILL have MERCY on them

And to our God

 

For he

Will FREELY pardon them”                                                                                            Isaiah 55:7

 

Life is risky

That IS FOR SURE

 

So we live in a world

That tries to be SAFE

And FULL of security

 

Our cars have seat belts

And airbags=we have ALARM SYSTEMS

In our homes and businesses

 

But no matter how safe

We try to be

We are

STILL AT RISK

 

In today’s first reading

Stephen is going to

Be STONED to death

 

Stephen TURNS to Jesus=Jesus

TURNS to his Father

 

WHEN we are at risk=dear Lord=we PRAY=

That we always TURN TO YOU

For our SAFETY

 

For you are

THE ONLY WAY

 

“Jesus answered=

‘I am the WAY

And the TRUTH

And the LIFE

 

No one comes

To the FATHER

EXCEPT through me’”                                                                                                 John 14:6

 

Jesus is the ONLY SAFE WAY

In this life FULL OF RISK

AS IT IS=OUR OWN WORST ENEMIES

 

 

 

 

 

AS IT IS=OUR OWN WORST ENEMIES

 

Jesus came to RESCUE people=

Who=at times=were there own

WORST ENEMIES=

Like all of us

 

We all have had MOMENTS=

Like the Sanhedrin=who were

ATTACKING someone good and kind

 

Stephen=whose FACE shown like and ANGEL=

We all have HURT=at one time or another=have HURT someone

Who was TRYING to help us

 

At times=we CAN BE

Our own worst enemies

 

“Remove from me

The WAY of falsehood

 

And favor me

With your law”                                                                                                                                         Psalm 119:29

 

We can get stuck

In self-deceit=ONLY

By the INTERVENTION

Of God=can we see

THE WORLD as it is

 

I don’t know about you

But I NEVER want to

Harm anyone=but I can THINK

Of a few instances=where by accident

I have HURT someone CLOSE

 

We are sometimes=our own

WORST ENEMIES=we are the enemies

WHOM Jesus calls us to LOVE

 

“Do not touch

My anointed ones

 

Do my prophets

NO HARM”                                                                                                                                 Psalm 105:15

 

“Do not plot harm

Against your neighbor

 

Who lives TRUSTFULLY

Near you”                                                                                                                     Proverbs 3:29

 

“Love does NO HARM

To a neighbor

 

Therefore=love IS

The FULFILLMENT of the law”                                                                                            Romans 13:10

 

I NEVER want to harm anyone

I=ONLY want to love them=

Want what is BEST for them

 

The SAME as Jesus

 

Jesus is everything that we NEED

He is our HOME at heart

He is our mercy=and

He is our patience

 

He is MY LIFE=he is

Even more REAL than

The life we are LIVING

 

“For my flesh

Is REAL food=and my blood

Is REAL drink”                                                                                                                            John 6:55

 

LIVE your life the BEST

That you can=AS IT IS

 

And if you HURT someone=

You CARE about=even if it

Is yourself=FORGIVE YOURSELF=

And forgive OTHERS

 

For NONE OF US ARE PERFECT=and

SOMETIMES we are OWN

LETTING THE JOY IN

 

We ALL have all kinds

Of TROUBLES in

This world

 

Health troubles=Financial troubles=

And all kinds of RELATIONSHIP troubles

 

Sometimes we have

To REMEMBER to slow

Ourselves down and LET

The JOY IN

 

Being OPEN=to the

JOY OF GOD

 

“WHY are you troubled?

And why

Do questions ARISE

In your hearts?

 

LOOK at my hands

And my feet

 

That it is I MYSELF”                                                                                                       Luke 24:38-39

 

The JOY of God

Letting the JOY IN

 

Sometimes=we make our troubles

Out= to be BIGGER than

They are

 

Sometimes=there is a

SIMPLE SOLUTION=and sometimes

We just NEED

To be OPEN

To the JOY of God

And of Jesus

 

“Surely=you have granted him

UNENDING BLESSINGS

 

And made him glad

With the joy

Of your PRESENCE”                                                                                                           Psalm 21:6

 

“Shout aloud

And SING for Joy

People of Zion

 

For great=IS

The HOLY ONE of Israel

Among you”                                                                                                                Isaiah 12:6

 

“………Your wife Elizabeth

Will bear you a SON

And you

Are to call him John

 

He will be a JOY

And a delight to you

And many

 

Will REJOICE

Because of his birth”                                                                                                           Luke 1:13-14

 

LETTING the joy of Jesus

Into our lives

 

There is a GREAT distance

Between our weaknesses and

The PROMISES of God

 

During this EASTER SEASON=

Let us NOT blind

To the promises of God

 

Let us be FILLED with the

JOY of the PRESENCE of God

 

“Because of my INTEGRITY

You uphold me

And set me in

YOUR PRESENCE FOREVER”                                                                                            Psalm 42:12

 

RISEN Jesus=we REST in your PRESENCE

And we LET the JOY of your COMING

Rest within us

 

In the names of Jesus our Lord

And his LOVING-glorious FATHER

TRUSTING IN JESUS=IN CONTROL

TRUSTING IN JESUS=

IN CONTROL

 

I don’t particularly like

To FLY=I don’t like

To be OUT OF CONTROL

 

But it is NECESSARY to fly=to see

My family and friends=and it makes

It all WORTHWHILE

 

TRUSTING in Jesus=he is always

IN CONTROL

 

“Don NOT be afraid”                                                                                                           John 6:20

 

In today’s gospel=A storm arises=

And the disciples see the=

GLORIOUS Jesus

Walking on water

 

I am SURE I would have

Been screaming in FEAR

Just like the other DISCIPLES

 

But Jesus says=

“It is I=

Do NOT be afraid”                                                                                                                        John 6:20

 

And isn’t that

The WAY it is

IN LIFE

 

NO matter what

We are FACING=if we

Have Jesus in our HEART

 

Jesus is in CONTROL

Of the situation

 

That scary medical diagnosis=

Do NOT be afraid

PROBLEMS with our money=

IT IS I=

Relationship difficulties

 

TRUSTING IN JESUS

He is in control

Of EVERY situation

 

“But the man

Who has settled

The matter

In his own mind

 

Who is under

NO COMPULSION

But has CONTROL

Over his own will

 

And who has made up

His mind

NOT to marry

The virgin

 

This man

Also does the right thing”                                                                                              1 Corinthians 7:37

 

“It is GOD’S WILL

That you should be SANCTIFIED

 

That you should AVOID

Sexual immorality

 

That each of you

Should LEARN

To CONTROL your own body

 

In a way

That is holy and HONORABLE

 

NOT in a passionate lust

Like the pagans

Who do not know God”                                                                                                     1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

 

But we CAN TRUST in God=

We can TRUST in Jesus=

 

He knows us

BETTER than we know ourselves

 

TRUSTING in Jesus=trusting in GOD

THEY are in CONTROL

 

For WHEN we know God=

When we know Jesus=ALL things

WORK for us

 

“And we KNOW that

In all things

 

God works for the GOOD

For those who LOVE HIM

Who have been CALLED

According to his PURPOSE”                                                                                                           Romans 8:28

 

SO I keep TRUSTING Jesus

In all situations

 

Jesus is TOTALLY in CONTROL=

And I keep on TRUSTING HIM

 

In the GOOD NAMES of Jesus and GOD=

HIS ALL LOVING FATHER
