LOST AND FOUND---The Story of Saint Anthony

“Whoever finds his life
Will lose it
And whoever loses his life
For my sake
Will find it”                                               Matthew 10:39

Saint Anthony
Was a great great Saint
He lived in the early 1200’s

He should be
The Patron Saint
Of those losing their life for God
And finding oneself

He joined the Augustinian order
At about 15
The bodies of some Franciscan martyrs
Passed though the city
Where he was stationed

He decided
He wanted to die for Christ too
And switched to the Franciscan order
But an illness
Prevented him from reaching his goal

So he spent his time
At a small hermitage
Praying, reading scriptures, and doing menial tasks

He was brilliant
Yet no one knew
One day when no one was prepared
To speak
Anthony stepped forward

His speech was so astounding
That he was promoted
To teach theology
To the other friars

Legend has it
That Jesus appeared to Anthony
As the baby Jesus
In the confines of his own room

Legend also has it
That one day
When Anthony could find no one
To preach to
He went down to the river
And the fish
All poked their head out of the water and listened

So remember
The next time that you are frustrated
In your life or on your job
And things aren’t happening fast enough for you
The story of Saint Anthony

A young man
Who gave up a life
Of wealth and power
To be a servant of God

Saint Anthony
The Saint of miracles
Saint Anthony
The man who walked away from life
Only to find his life in God

Saint Anthony
The Saint of lost lives
The Saint of Restoration
The Saint of
Reclaiming our life through God

“For this son of mine was dead
And is alive again
He was lost and now is found”                                             Luke 15:24

BY FOLLOWING GOD’S PLAN
SAINT ANTHONY FOUND HIS LIFE
AND BECAME AN EXAMPLE FOR US ALL

Ps              Other than Saint Francis himself---Saint Anthony is probably the most
Well known of ALL the Franciscans---His feast day is June the13th

For what it is worth---the chronic nature of my illness began on
                   June 13th, 1977

Giving thanks to God and Saint Anthony for helping me to find myself
In this crazy mixed-up world that we live in
