For the Love of Us All

MARY, MY SISTER

My sister Mary

Is a devoted mother

She is the mother

Of four

And those little girls

Are with her

All the way

To the core

She is also

A devoted wife

But sometimes we forget

A wife

And a mother

Is not

All of who she is

She also

Has a life

Of her own

But like all mothers

Sometimes we forget this

We forget WHO she is

Many years ago

We were close

I used

To call her pal

But our lives

Went in different directions

And that’s ok

Because

That’s the way

Life is

In these times

We call

The 21^st century

My sister Mary

And her beautiful family

Will always

Be family to me
