For the Love of Us All

SALT AND LIGHT

Jesus told us

You are the salt

Of the earth

You are the light

Of the world

But what does

It mean

To be salt and light

In today’s world

2000 years ago

Salt was the principal seasoning

That was used to cook

2000 years ago

There was no electricity

So light was a scarcity

And at a premium

So how

Can we

How will we be

Light in today’s world

It can be as simple

As a smile

Or an encouraging word

To someone

Who is having a bad day

Or it can be

To have a listening ear

For someone

Who needs to be heard

It can be as simple

As sending someone

A birthday card or get well card

Or it could be

Visiting a sick neighbor

In the hospital

Maybe we can’t

Change the whole world

As Jesus did

Just maybe

We can change someone’s world

Love, forgive, and be kind

I dear say

My friend

That if you do these things

You will be

SALT AND LIGHT

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it

On its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way,

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise

Your Father in heaven.”                                                                             Matthew 5:13-14
