CHRIST OUR KING
Today-November 25th,
2012-is
The feast of CHRIST THE KING
During the presidential election
There was a slogan going around that read:
“No matter
Who is president
Jesus is STILL KING”
I wish
That we-as Americans
Really believed that
Because-our country is falling apart
Now I hear and read
About all these states
Wanting to secede from the union
This is equivalent
As to saying
If you don’t play my way
I am going
To take my ball and go home
I don’t think any country
Can destroy us from outside
But I do think
We are destroying ourselves from within
We need a KING
And we need God and Jesus
To be that King
At least the values
That God and Jesus represent
Love-kindness-caring and compassion for one another
We NEED to recognize
That we need God
Here on earth
And we need to recognize
That wherever God is reigning
The people
Are experiencing God’s reign
Let us get back to putting GOD
AND FAMILIES
Number ONE in our heart
And number one
In our minds and souls
In chapter 13 of Matthew
Jesus tells us the parable
Of the sower:
“Still others fell on good soil
Where it produced a crop
A hundred-sixty-or thirty times
What is sown
He who has ears-let him hear”
Matthew 13:8-9
Let us hear
“God-Christ-is our King”
Or in Mark
When Jesus proclaims the news:
“The time has come
The kingdom
of God is near
Repent and believe the good news!”
Mark 1:15
Unfortunately
The people aren’t hearing it today
Any more
Than they were hearing it 2000 years ago
PROBABLY LESS
Is it any wonder
Our country
Is in the shape that it is in
GOD the King-Christ the King
Hear the GOOD NEWS
Jesus told John the Baptist’s messengers:
“Go back and report to John
What you have seen and heard:
The blind receive sight
The lame walk
Those who have leprosy-are cured
The deaf hear
The dead are raised
AND THE GOOD NEWS
Is preached to the poor
BLESSED is the man
Who does not fall away
On account of me”
Luke
7:22-23
Let us put aside
Our political differences
And hear one last time-and forever more-
CHRIST THE KING
