“LOVE YOUR ENEMIES........” Matthew 5:44


JESUS is the EMBODIMENT of God's love-and GOD LOVES each person INFINITELY-regardless of HOW we respond to him-Jesus CALLS US to SHARE our love-IF we are truly his disciples-to LOVE in the same way that he loves


Jesus SAYS:
“BE PERFECT-just as your heavenly Father is perfect” Matthew 5:48


LOVING OUR ENEMIES-those that have done us wrong-and continue to TRY and do us wrong-IS-for me-ONE of the toughest things to do-FORGIVING AND LOVING our enemies is very difficult-and it goes against our natural human response


Jesus also GIVES US another command-and in it-HE TEACHES US to pray, “FORGIVE us........as we forgive” Matthew 6:12-so if you are not forgiving-you are NOT BEING FORGIVEN


And so DEAR LORD-we PRAY for the GRACE to love those who have “TRESPASSED AGAINST US” and to forgive them-and to EXPERIENCE the true MIRACLE of AGAPE' LOVE


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE FOR US and a great day to find FORGIVENESS in our heart-for those who have HURT US






BEING PERFECT




Are you perfect


NOT just physically perfect
But emotionally perfect
And spiritually perfect


IF you are-CONGRATULATIONS
You are the first person
I have met
WHO is perfect


Other than Jesus
Of course
Who was perfect
SPIRITUALLY


“It is GOD
Who guides me
And makes my way perfect” Psalm 18:32


Me perfect
NOT in
My wildest dreams


Not physically perfect
Not emotionally perfect
And not spiritually perfect


ALTHOUGH I do
My very best
To FOLLOW the ways
Of the Lord


In the 19^th chapter
Of Saint Matthew's gospel
Jesus tells a young man
Who wishes to follow him
WHAT he has to do
In order to be perfect


“Jesus said.....,'IF you wish
To be perfect
GO-sell what you have
And give it to the POOR


And you will have treasure
In heaven


Then
COME FOLLOW ME'


WHEN the young man
Heard this statement


He went away sad
For he had MANY POSSESSIONS” Matthew 19:21-22


Wow-
I can sympathize
With this man


WHO could go
And sell ALL their possessions
ESPECIALLY in today's
ME first society


MAYBE the lesson is
JUST to GIVE as much as we can


GIVE-
At least till it hurts


“EVERY MAN
Shall give
As he is able


ACCORDING to
The BLESSING of the Lord
Thy God
Which he has
GIVEN YOU” Deuteronomy 16:17


And maybe
THE ULTIMATE MEANING
Of Jesus' words


Is an invitation
To give OUR HEART
COMPLETELY TO GOD
And other people


So that
There will be NO ROOM
In our heart
For our possessions


ONE THING
I do know for sure
IS
WE should never stop giving


Because LIVING IS GIVING


And GIVING IS LIVING


And when and if
We give it all away
We will be PERFECT
As the Lord
IS PERFECT


And the truth is
NONE of us
Will be able to do this


So we SHOULD
Just give away
AS MUCH OF OURSELVES
As we possibly can

“I TELL YOU-unless your RIGHTEOUSNESS SURPASSES that of the scribes and Pharisees-you will NOT enter into the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 5:20


ARE YOU RIGHTEOUS? Or are you self-righteous-the TRUTH is-IF we are truly GOOD people-we are probably a little bit of BOTH-for there is ONLY ONE that is 100 per cent RIGHTEOUS and that is God-in the person of Jesus Christ


The best synonym for the word righteous is PROBABLY VIRTUOUS-so how virtuous of a person are you?-Jesus calls us to be MORE VIRTUOUS than the scribes and Pharisees who base their reputation on a legal observance of religious rules and laws


IF we are really righteous-IF we are really virtuous-IF we are really moral people-we are measuring ourselves by the amount of LOVE we have for all people-for we know IF we obey religious laws-but FAIL TO LOVE-we have failed miserably


For as Jesus taught-and PROVED through his life-that the ONLY true measuring stick IS:
HOW MUCH WE LOVE


Dear Lord-we PRAY-that you HELP US to cultivate a TRULY authentic and VIRTUOUS LIFE through LOVE


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day for living a truly authentic and righteous life through LOVE






RIGHTEOUSNESS








RIGHTEOUSNESS is defined
As the state of being perfect
Of being without sin


Which makes self-righteousness
The exact opposite
Of righteousness
For NONE of us are perfect


And if
We think we are
We are deluding ourselves


For righteousness
Is an attribute of God
And as far as I know
There is only one person
To have lived
WITH GOD-like qualities-Jesus Christ


“Oh righteous God
Who searches minds and hearts


Bring to an end
The violence of the wicked
And make the RIGHTEOUS secure” Psalm 7:9


Lord we defer to you
HELP us to be
As righteous
As a human being
Can be
But NEVER self-righteous


RIGHTEOUS in your word
Righteous only in
The Word of God


And we know
That we can never attain righteousness
From God by our actions
ONLY BY OUR FAITH


Abraham was JUSTIFIED
By his faith


“If in fact
Abraham was justified by his works
He had something
To boast about-but NOT before God


What does the Scripture say?


Abraham believed God
And it was credited to him
As RIGHTEOUSNESS” Romans 4:2 &3


RIGHTEOUSNESS from GOD
NOT from himself
ONLY by faith
Not by keeping laws


“So we too
Have put our faith in Christ Jesus
That we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH
In Christ
And not by observing the law
Because by observing the law
NO ONE will be justified” Galatians 2:16


RIGHTEOUSNESS-justification
ONLY by FAITH in God
NOT by actions or keeping laws


And we KNOW
That the GOAL of Christian life
IS RIGHTEOUSNESS


“But seek first
HIS kingdom and his righteousness
And ALL these things
Will be given to you as well” Matthew 6:33


So WHEN we are
In discussions or arguments
With others
DON’T be overly concerned
In proving yourself right


Even
IF the whole world says
You are wrong


If your heart
Is in the RIGHT place
God will take your side
And prove you right


“He himself
Bore our sins
In his body on the tree
So that we might die to sins
And LIVE for righteousness
By his wounds-you have been HEALED” 1 Peter 2:24

HAS ANYONE ever HELPED you during your life time-spiritually-emotionally-in TOUGH FINANCIAL TIMES-HAS GOD?


GOD has HELPED ME infinitely in just staying ALIVE-HELPED ME to get up every day just to get through the day-and KEEP a SMILE on my face-and LIVE with FAITH-HOPE-and LOVE


And has helped me through ALL of you just to KEEP a roof over my head-food on the table-and STAY AFLOAT FINANCIALLY-I AM GRATEFUL for these BLESSINGS and for all of these expressions of LOVE AND GRACE


ALL of this is a REMINDER that GOD'S BLESSINGS far exceed our own personal efforts-GOD”S right hand gives me/GIVES US STRENGTH-WE can be certain that GOD ALWAYS hears our PRAYERS and will NEVER abandon us in times of trouble-financial-spiritual-or emotional


GOD'S FAITHFUL LOVES ENDURES FOREVER-and this IS one of GOD'S greatest gifts to us-

Where are you
In your personal relationship with God
Are your enduring
The trials of your life


Are you loving God
Despite the troubles in your life
Are you letting him
Love you


“For everything
That was written in the past
So that through ENDURANCE
And the encouragement of the scriptures
We might have HOPE” Romans 15:4


We are going to have problems
In this life
Of that we can be sure
So we may as well
Stick to God
So he can be there for us
And we can be there
For one another


Turning our troubles
Into blessings
Turning our problems into HOPE


“May the God
Who gives ENDURANCE and encouragement
Give you a spirit of unity
Among yourselves
As you follow Christ Jesus


So that with one heart and mouth
You may glorify the God and Father
Of our Lord Jesus Christ” Romans 15;5 & 6


Be in it
With God
Be in it
For the long haul


ENDURE means
To carry us through
Despite our hardships


God is BUILDING
Something in you
A LIFE THAT WILL LAST
Long after you have left
This world


For you are ROCK

On the WORD OF GOD

Of man


You-me-us-
We are in it
For the long haul


NOT transitory rewards


Dear Lord
We pray for a life

That righteousness and love ENDURES forever

The RELUCTANT PROPHET finally made his way to Nineveh-HIS MESSAGE was one of JUDGMENT for their many sins-”FORTY days more and Nineveh will be destroyed”


WHAT ABOUT US in today's world-ARE we looking for signs too-or are we so cold-INDIFFERENT and UNGRACIOUS that we do NOT even cares if GOD EXISTS in today's world


THE NINEVITE people repented by FASTING-WHAT are we going to do in today's world-ARE WE going to REPENT? ARE we going to turn back to God?


The Ninevite people didn't need Jonah-They already KNEW their sins-they took the WORD OF GOD seriously and changed their lives


WHAT WORDS-messages-or signs from GOD are you receiving today that is motivating you to act and RETURN TO GOD


it is a GREAT day to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day to change for OUR LOVE of GOD

I NEED A SIGN


2000 years ago
Jesus was healing the sick
Making the crippled walk
Helping the blind see
Letting the deaf hear
Performing miracle after miracle


And yet
It wasn’t enough


The people of his day
Wanted a sign


Jesus’ response,
“A wicked and adulterous generation
Asks for a miraculous sign
But none will be given to you
Except the sign of Jonah”


Jonah was a prophet
And had to spend 3 days and 3 nights
In he belly of a fish
To rescue he Ninevite people


What about us today
We want a sign
That God exists
We want scientific proof/evidence


What about the sign
That Jesus
Was crucified, died, and was buried
What about the sign
That 3 days later
Jesus overcame death


What about
That sign


What about the sign
Of your very own life
How do you know
That if someone else
Was given a chance
That they might have worshiped God
A 1000 times better


God loves you
God loves me
With an infinite love


Every day
Is a gift from God
Every day
Is a day freshly minted
For you and me


A day with unlimited potential
A day with unlimited possibilities
A day with unlimited opportunity


What if today

DO YOU PRAY without ceasing-the ONLY way we can PRAY without ceasing-IS by offering our whole life to GOD-the GOOD-the bad-and ALL in between-but what we should ALL be aspiring to IS:making our WHOLE LIFE good-NOT easy to do-JESUS is the only one who ever did it-but he was part God and part human-he turned his back on every temptation he ever encountered


GROWING UP CATHOLIC-I learned the ROSARY-and I STILL pray that prayer every day-PRAYING the ROSARY is more for our sake than for GOD'S-as OUR WHOLE LIFE should be a prayer and an offering to GOD


AND WHEN-I PRAYED the PRAYER of the sick when I was 22 and given zero per cent life to life-I PRAYED: “TO LIVE for my family-my friends-and ALL people everywhere”-AS it has turned out-that has been the way MY LIFE has gone


DEAR LORD-we PRAY that you help us/HELP ME to cultivate A TRULY PRAYERFUL SPIRIT and a PRAYERFUL LIFE


LIKE Saint Paul said: help us “TO PRAY WITHOUT CEASING” 1 Thessalonians 5:17


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day to offer OUR LIFE to God in PRAYER

ARE YOU KIND? CAN you be kind? OH-I know the answer is YES and yes-but are you kind to that same rude person that takes you for granted over and over again? ARE YOU KIND to those that are the least important in this world-but STILL important to God? ARE you kind to the poor and unfortunate-for that IS what the GOSPEL of Jesus tells us to do


A REPORTER once asked MOTHER TERESA if she knew the gospels-she said she had it RIGHT on
her fingertips-she than smiled-raised her hand-touched each of her five fingers and said: “'YOU DID IT for me'-that's the gospel on my fingertips “


And I think that IS what we NEED to remember too-”YOU DID IT FOR ME”-JESUS did it-LIVED DIED-and RESURRECTED for each and every person in this world-SO WE should be KIND to the needy-the hungry-and those often OVERLOOKED and IGNORED-that is CALLED living the GOSPEL


The CALL and the CHALLENGE of life-MAY BE right AT OUR FINGERTIPS


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE FOR US and a great day to LOVE those less fortunate than ourselves






NOT TO BE REPAID




IF you are like me
You often INVITE friends and neighbors
Into your home


You may NOT do it
Expecting to be repaid
But these relationships and friendships
Often EVOLVE into reciprocal relationships
Where people
DO something in RETURN for you


There is NOTHING wrong
With that
In fact
MANY of these relationships
Evolve into BEAUTIFUL friendships


But in Luke 14
Jesus has-through yet another parable
ANOTHER TAKE on the matter


He says:
“WHEN you give
A luncheon or a dinner
Do NOT invite your friends,
Your brothers, or relatives
Or your rich neighbors


IF you do
They may invite you back
And so you will be REPAID”


HE says
That when you give a banquet
“INVITE the poor
The crippled, the lame,
And you will be BLESSED”


Because they CANNOT repay you
You will be repaid at the RESURRECTION
Of the RIGHTEOUS


NOT TO BE REPAID


What Jesus
Is trying to TEACH US
Is that
WE are to LIVE
With untainted and PURE motives


We are to GIVE
And LIVE with a PURE HEART


Do something KIND for someone
Who CANNOT repay you
And do it
Just because
IT is a NICE THING
And a RIGHTEOUS thing to do


BE KIND-BE KIND-BE KIND
NOT expecting anything in return
BECAUSE it is


NOT TO BE REPAID

HAVE you ever seen a RAINBOW-what a beautiful and WONDEROUS sight-and for me personally-when I see one-I ALWAYS FEEL the presence of God


AFTER the great flood-God put a RAINBOW in the sky as a REMINDER that there would be NO MORE world destroying floods-GOD IS PATIENT with us-and He wants us to get it right-but he is NOT going to wait forever


The PLAN OF SALVATION has been fulfilled in the person of Jesus so that “HE might lead you/me to God” (1 Peter 3:18)-I KEEP wondering WHEN more of us in this world are going to get it right-by the looks of the 5 o'clock news-it doesn't look like that it is any time soon


MORE OF US in this world have to BEGIN to win the battle of GOD AND FAMILY and goodness and UNSELFISHNESS over sin and selfishness and greed in this world


WHEN was the last time you saw a RAINBOW? DID You feel the awesome PRESENCE OF GOD-I HOPE so-and more than that I HOPE you are winning your own battle of GOOD over evil by choosing GOD AND FAMILY VALUES in today's world


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day for CHOOSING GOD and making him number 1 in your life-ALONG with your family




GOD’S PERFECT WORD---COVENANTS AND PROMISES




Has anyone
Ever made you a promise
And not kept their word


Has God


The answers are
Yes and no
At least by the experience
Of my own life


I have been
Let down over and over again
By human beings
But not by God


God always
Keeps his words


A covenant is defined
As an agreement between two parties
A solemn promise or vow
Especially between God and people


God always keeps his covenant
God always keeps his word


God said to Noah
“Never again
Will the waters become a flood
To destroy all the earth
Whenever the RAINBOW appears
In the clouds
I will see it
And remember the everlasting covenant
Between GOD and ALL living creatures
Of every kind”


Man makes promises
Do they keep them
Sometimes yes and sometimes no
Not so with God
God ALWAYS keeps his word


God said to Abraham,
“As for me
This is my covenant with you:
You will be
The Father of many nations
No longer will you be called Abram
Your name will be Abraham
I have made you
The Father of many nations”


Christian, Muslim, and Jew
God always keeps his Word


God said to the Jewish people through Moses,
“You are standing here
In order to enter in to a covenant
With the Lord your God


A covenant the Lord
Is making with you
This day and sealing with an oath


To confirm you this day as his people
That he may be your God
As he promised you
And as he swore to your Fathers,
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob”


Do people keep their promises
Sometimes yes---sometimes no


God always keeps his promises
With God---it is always so


God told Nathan
To go and tell David,
“Your house and your kingdom
Will endure forever before me
Your thrown will be established forever”


God always keeps his word


With people
Promises made---sometimes
Are promises broken


With God---that is never so
God always keeps his word


“This is the covenant
I will make with them
I will
Put my law in their hearts
And I will write them
On their minds”


Through Christ’s perfect sacrifice
And the SPIRIT who testifies


GOD’S WORD IS PERFECT
HE ALWAYS KEEPS HIS WORD

Isaiah ENCOURAGES us to look within ourselves and ask: WHAT do I have to offer God and others this Lent? What SHARING will grow my OWN SPIRIT as well as ENCOURAGE my neighbor?


GOD has a dream and a PLAN for our LIVES-and in the long run-it is ALL GOOD-but sometimes it involves fighting through the difficult circumstances of our own life-bad choices that we have made-and sometimes just misfortune


BUT THE GOOD NEWS is-that GOD never gives up on us-ENCOURAGES US-PROTECTS US-and walks every step of our lives with us-HE LOVES US and has a FULL DREAM for our lives


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE for us and a great day to move towards GOD'S BLESSING for us and ACCEPT THE GRACE that he bestows on us

SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME




“SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME”
Is one of my favorite movies


It is a 1987 film
Where a cop
Acting as a bodyguard
For a murder witness
Falls in love
With the woman
He is protecting


To make matters worse
The cop has a wife and a child


Wouldn’t that be great
If we had someone watching over us
Someone protecting us
Every minute of every day


But we do
OUR GOD AND OUR FATHER


So as we journey through life
When we run into trouble
Our God and Father protects us


“You are my hiding place
You will protect me from trouble
And surround me
With songs of deliverance” Psalm 32:7


Isn’t that GREAT
We travel through life daily
And we have someone watching over us
Someone ready
To DELIVER US from our troubles


All we have to do is ask
And turn out hearts back to him


“Hear the word of the Lord
Oh nations
Proclaim it in distant coastlands


He who scattered Israel
Will gather them
And WATCH OVER his flock
Like a shepherd” Jeremiah 31:10


“For the Lord WATCHES OVER
The way of the righteous
But the wicked will perish” Psalm 1:6


So we know
THE LORD WATCHES OVER US


And we know
That he not only watches over us
But he will come get us
When we become lost
On the highway of life


And he will DELIVER us


“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep
And loses one of them
Does he not leave the ninety-nine
In the open country
And go after the lost sheep
Until he finds it” Luke 15:4


And then he DELIVERS US safely home


“The righteous cry out
And the Lord hears them
He DELIVERS them
From all their troubles” Psalm 34:17


In the movie-the cop ( Tom Berenger )

And SAVES the day
When his own wife ( Lorraine Bracca )

MOST chaff goes to the landfills every year-but increasingly-they are finding an environmentally purpose for the chaff


SOMETIMES-in life-we put way too much POSITIVE ENERGY into people who do wrong to us-we are GIVING way too much attention to their attention and behavior-THIS LENT-try REFOCUSING your energy for good and for the GOOD PEOPLE in your life


DON'T get me wrong-still be MERCIFUL and FORGIVING to all people-but BUILD THE BRIDGES with those who want to HELP YOU reach God and others-those who want to BUILD A POSITIVE WORLD

HOW MANY of you remember the MIRACLE of the loaves and the fishes-I would dare say ALL of you-or almost ALL OF YOU-IN John chapter 6-John tells us about Andrew finding a young lad with “five barley loaves and two small fishes-but what are they among so many” John 6:9


PLENTY-where Jesus and GOD are concerned-because he-THEY can do the IMPOSSIBLE-maybe you are like me-who can REMEMBER when his mother and grandmother-told this young boy to eat his dinner-because “THERE ARE people starving all over the world”


In the above quotation in Mark-maybe you can SENSE Jesus' frustration at the APOSTLES difficulty in “GETTING IT”-he IS the SON OF GOD and he can do ALL things-”DO YOU not remember”-and maybe you and I don't remember ALL the miracles GOD has already performed for us and getting us to this point in our lives-SO IF you are in NEED of another miracle in your life-I AM sure GOD and Jesus have some more-there is NO LIMIT in the number of miracles GOD can PERFORM for you-HE HAS as many as you may need-KEEP THE FAITH-GOD'S TIMING is NOT our timing


YOUR SIGNIFICANCE and DIGNITY is not lost on God-there are NO useless-forgotten-or “LEFTOVER” people in God' world


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in God' LOVE for us and a great day to REALIZE-every single PERSON has significance in the world of GOD-the world of MIRACLES

DO YOU KNOW what the first murder was-it was Cain killing his brother-Abel-and it has grown and grown from there-WAR all over the world-killing and MURDERS-in every city in America


The BIBLE does not tell us WHY Cain killed his brother-but maybe he was JEALOUS of his brother Abel-whose sacrifice was “ACCEPTABLE” to God-while Cain's was not


DELIBERATE MURDER and deliberate evil comes from DARK PLACES in the human heart-from places like revenge-anger-greed-lust-and power-while the great percentage of us will NEVER murder anyone (THANK GOD for that)-we will be GUILTY of things like negative criticism-gossip-lying, etc., etc., etc.,


But what we KNOW about God-is that GOD IS LIFE-and that his WORD is life-giving-life-affirming-and life sustaining-HIS WORDS ARE TRUE


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and a great day to READ and listen to the LIFE-SUSTAINING WORDS OF GOD

Many thought abandoned by God


At that last moment
Even Christ thought he was abandoned

But we know
That he was not abandoned

To live in eternal glory
With his Father


How often
Do we feel abandoned in life
Abandoned by our family and friends
Abandoned by our church
Maybe we even feel
Abandoned by God


We know through faith
That like Christ

Is not the end of the story

Never abandoned by God
We are his children
And he is madly in love with us


We know
Because Moses tells us so,
“For the Lord your God

I suggest to you
That if there is any abandoning
Going on here
It is by us
By our society
By our world


Building a world on materialism
Building a world on sex and violence
Building a world on “scientific” miracles
And leaving God
Totally out of the mix


“The spirit clearly says
That in later times

Abandon the faith
And follow deceiving spirits
And things taught by demons” 1 Timothy 4


I have NO IDEA
When the end is coming
And neither does anyone else


Christ himself said,
“No one knows
About that day or hour
Not even the angels in heaven

WE ALL have done wrong in our life-SOME intentional and some inadvertent-this is also CALLED SIN-and WHEN we have done wrong-the BEST we can do is ACKNOWLEDGE our wrongdoing-and APOLOGIZE to those we have hurt—ASK for another chance-and MAKE SURE we get it RIGHT-if we are fortunate to get that SECOND CHANCE


UNFORTUNATELY-some of us want to AVOID the truth-and NOT COME CLEAN-but you and I BOTH KNOW that in the long run-the guilt and shame that we bear-is NOT worth the momentary DISCOMFORT of ACKNOWLEDGING our sin to GOD-to others-and to OURSELVES


DEAR Lord-we PRAY-that we know DEEP DOWN-that you LOVE ME/love us-regardless of the wrong that we have done in our life-and that you FORGIVE US-HELP OTHERS to forgive us also-and to FORGIVE OURSELVES

ARE you deaf? Are you closed off to the WORD OF GOD? Jesus came and OPENED a new world for the deaf-JESUS was FULL OF COMPASSION-he not only made the deaf able to hear-but he made it so they could HEAR the WORD of GOD-and TRANSFORM themselves-it was NOT just a physical gift-but a NEW AWARENESS to the spiritual side of their lives


SPIRITUAL DEAFNESS reveals itself in MANY different ways-but the CURE is always the same-getting your mind off of yourself-and FOCUS on BEING KIND AND COMPASSIONATE to others-focus on loving-forgiving-and BEING KIND to others=it is surprising HOW LIBERATING this can be
and JESUS taught us this 2,000 years ago-IF only we would LEARN to open up our ears


Jesus' teachings and the INSIGHTS FROM the bible have been INDISPENSABLE to me on my spiritual journey-HELPING me to HEAR AND LEARN-what I never could by myself-GOD USES many people and many ways to HEAL our spiritual deafness-DEAR LORD-we PRAY that we are OPEN to them

JESUS could never mistake notice-he was a MIRACLE WORKER-in a world that needed INFINITE miracles-a lot like OUR world today-PEOPLE NOTICED him


The TRUTH is-we are ALL made for RELATIONSHIP with God and for relationship with others-what a world we LIVE IN today-WHERE everyone wants their 15 minutes of FAME-somebody PLEASE take my 15 minutes-I AM perfectly happy just LOVING GOD and others and being LOVED BACK


BUT one thing I do know-is that we are ALL MADE in the image and likeness of GOD-we MUST learn to love and RESPECT ALL OTHERS-NOT just the ones that we choose-we LIVE in a world with SUFFERING-and we are called upon to alleviate suffering-WHERE we can-IF we can-while NONE of us can HEAL as Jesus could- we can ALL be advocates for JUSTICE AND PEACE in today's world


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and a great day to REALIZE-everything in life can WORK FOR GOD-if we ALLOW ourselves and our suffering to be used for GOD'S GLORY

I have
Many times


ONE of the things
Was that
WHEN my health changed dramatically
When I was 22


And I couldn't work
And I couldn't find a woman
To SHARE my life with
Or have a FAMILY


“WE KNOW
That ALL things work together
For GOOD


For those
WHO LOVE GOD
Who are called
ACCORDING to his PURPOSE” Romans 8:28


I TURNED
To God
I learned
To DEPEND on God
I learned
To let God
LEAD THEWAY


Through God
I have built
My life back up


With the HELP of God
And the help
Of others


MY DEATHBED PROMISE:


“I don't think God
Wants me to die
But if he does
He must
have a REASON


And if I do die
PLEASE BLESS my father, mother,
Sisters, family-friends-and work


For I would be GONE
And they would be
STILL HERE


But IF GOD
Wants me to live


I WOULD LIVE
For my family-friends-and
ALL PEOPLE everywhere”


38 years this January (2015-if I make it-GOD WILLING)
And I AM STLL
Living for God
And others


GOD IS ALWAYS FAITHFUL
To his PROMISES


“The PROMISE

The TRUTH IS
It hasn't been easy


But the truth is ALSO
I am getting by financially
WITH HELP


And the truth is
I have an AMAZING FAMILY
And ALL these amazing friends
BOTH men and women


And HOPEFULLY
My presence in the WORD OF GOD
That I have been SHARING
Has made
A DIFFERENCE in your life


I LOVE YOU


“ALL THINGS work together

“BLESS THE LORD-Oh my SOUL!” Psalm 104:1


LOURDES, France has become FAMOUS as a SHRINE for healing-WHERE physical disease have been CURED in a miraculous way-THE CHURCH recognizes 66 MIRACULOUS CURES there


it is also the day-I WALKED out of Saint John's hospital-after experiencing a 108 degrees fever-peritonitis-gangrene-and gram-negative septicemia-and LIVED to tell about it


LOURDES, France-where many have found PEACE in coming to UNDERSTAND GOD'S WILL for them-but of course-we don't have to go all the way to FRANCE-to EXPERIENCE Mother Mary's LOVE for us-all we NEED to do is to ASK for her help in PRAYER


And Mary will RUSH to OUR SIDE-and take her petitions to her SON-Jesus for us-FEBRUARY 11th-the feast day for of OUR LADY OF LOURDES-and a day for FINDING PEACE in GOD-and maybe even experiencing a TRUE MIRACLE of God


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and a great day for coming to the LORD and HIS MOTHER in faith and hope-and to KNOW the HEALING POWER OF God

Our Lady of Lourdes
Is a title for the Blessed Virgin Mary
Used by Roman Catholics
In honor of apparitions of Mary
And for many miracles
That are said to have occurred there
At Lourdes, France


On the evening
Of January 18^th, 1977
I developed a tremendous pain/ pressure
In my groin area
And I was admitted to the hospital
The next day


I WILL NEVER FORGET


I was rushed
To emergency surgery
The next day
With a perforated bowel


I WILL NEVER FORGET


The first apparition
Of Our Lady of Lourdes
Was made February 11^th, 1858
By Bernadette Soubirous
A 14-year-old peasant girl
Who admitted to her mother
That a “lady”
Spoke to her
In the cave of Massabielle
About a mile from her home


The apparition of the “lady”
Were reported
On seventeen further occasions
That year


After the surgery
I laid there
For two weeks
With tubes coming
Out of every orifice in my body
In a state between life and death


I WILL NEVER FORGET


The apparition
Asked Bernadette to dig in the ground
And drink
From the spring she found there
And she did


From that day onward
That spring
Has produced 27,000 gallons of water per week


My health
Took a turn for the worse
Dr. Christian was called in
To work on me
And Father Newell was called in
To administer the Sacrament for the Sick


My temperature
Reached as high as 108 degrees
And my blood count went down to three
And I had many blood transfusions


It looked like death was imminent


I WILL NEVER FORGET


Many miracles have occurred
At Our Lady of Lourdes
Some proven authentic miracles
And many not reported at all


The day
I walked out of the hospital
Was February 11^th, 1977
The day of the first reported vision
At Lourdes, France in 1858


I will testify FOR GOD
And give thanks TO GOD
For every day
Of the REST of my life

WE ARE PRECIOUS PEOPLE to God-there is NO mystery about that-WE are REFLECTIONS of God-and who sustains us daily in LOVE and cares for us-THIS tells us WHO we are and HOW we are to regard one another


GOD ASKS US to love others-just as he loves them-for we are ALL made in his own IMAGE-the BAD NEWS is that this is pretty hard to do-but the GOOD NEWS is that-we are NEVER without GOD'S HELP in trying to do so


Dear Lord-you MADE US-in your own IMAGE-and you created us to REFLECT this image to others-HELP US to recognize who we are in today's world-OTHER CHRISTS made to LOVE others as Yourself


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us

If we are true Christians
True true Christians
Our mission in life
Is to become other Christ’s
Albeit
Maybe smaller---more miniature versions
And to make his word---God’s word
Come alive in today’s world


Picture this


You meet your cousin
At the river
He baptizes you
And as you come up
Out of the water
Heaven opens up
And the Spirit of God
In the form of a dove
Descends upon you


Lightening flashes on him
And a voice says,


“This is my dear Son
With whom I am well pleased” Mark 3:13-17


You—one of John’s disciples
Take this all in
From that moment on
You know that your life
Will never be the same


John himself said,
“I must decrease---and he must increase”
From that moment on
John’s disciples followed Jesus


So must it be with us
If we are truly to become other Christ’s
In this world


We must die to ourselves---our selfish sinful selves
And as Jesus himself said,
“If anyone would come after me
He must deny himself
And take up his cross
And follow me” Mark 8:31


We live in a Godless society
Becoming a little more so each day


A poet once wrote:
“He has
No hands but your hands
He has no feet
But your feet
He has no mouth
But your mouth…….”


If God’s word
Is to truly come alive again
In today’s world
It is up to us


Saint Paul once said,
“I have been crucified with Christ
And I no longer live
But Christ lives in me


The life I live in the body
I live by faith in the Son of God
Who loved me
And gave himself for me” Galatians 2:20


Each one of us
Has been handcrafted by God
Our own unique selves
To live a life---and do a job
That no one else can do
Only us


And part of that job
Is to make God come alive again
In today’s world


Finally---dear Lord
We pray
That you shine in us and through us


And we become so much like you
That when the world looks at us
It sees no longer us

ALL OF CREATION is an EXPRESSION of GOD'S GOODNESS and LOVE-I WONDER if we would view the world differently-if we REMEMBERED each day that every person and EVERY part of nature IS a reflection of the GOODNESS OF GOD


GOD CONTINUES to create GOODNESS in the world today-IN PEOPLE and in nature-I BELIEVE-even if you are NOT currently seeing it-that the GOODNESS OF GOD will be PROVEN in human nature-through you and me


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and a great day to REJOICE in the GOODNESS of GOD










IN THE BEGINNING




In the beginning
You were a nothing
Sitting among a bunch of other nothings
High above the clouds


Looking down
At this planet we call earth


God decided to create you
Out of all the nothings
Because he loves you
With an everlasting---never-ending love


And he has given you work to do
That no one else
In this whole wide world can do
ONLY YOU


But now you are something
SOMETHING SPECIAL
in this world


Because your adopted Father---GOD---loves you
Which makes you a CHILD OF GOD
And a sibling to our elder BROTHER---JESUS CHRIST


The word GENESIS means---
“IN THE BEGINNING”
And in the beginning
There was ONLY GOD---ONLY LOVE


The first book of the Bible
Is called Genesis
And that book
Forms the basis
For ALL further REVELATION ABOUT GOD
And his plan for all of mankind


Does that surprise you
It doesn’t me


God has a plan for you
God has a plan for me
A plan for---ALL men and women in this world


And that plan
Is MADE out of LOVE
Because he created this world---
He created you and me OUT OF LOVE


It is believed
That the book of GENESIS
Was written for the Israelites
But the PROMISES
That GOD made to them are timeless
And is set up
TO REVEAL GOD’S LOVE OF MANKIND
Through the life, death, and RESURRECTION
OF JESUS CHRIST


When Adam and Eve listened to Satan
Instead of obeying God’s plan
Sin was thrust in to this world


Sin prevails
Until God destroys the world through floods
Except for the righteous Noah
And his family


LOVE SURVIVED


We have to remember
That no matter how much
Hatred, violence, and disobedience that there are
In this world
This world LIVES ON


Love will survive---because GOD IS LOVE


God NEVER STOPS loving man
And by using Abraham and his family
He SAVES his people again
To have fellowship with them


God created man
For FELLOWSHIP with him
And we must always remember
God will NEVER GIVE UP ON US---or abandon us
BECAUSE HE LOVES US


The Lord our God
Has a plan
For every life
And EVERY single one of us
And GOD has the power
To protect us
If we place OUR FAITH AND TRUST IN HIM


So when this world
Finally does end
It will END IN LOVE
Just as it was

FAITH AND ACTION

FAITH AND WORKS




WE all know
That we are SAVED
BY FAITH ALONE


But we also all know
That faith not enhanced
BY REAL WORKS
Is not REAL FAITH at all


As CHRISTIANS
We are to be there
For our brothers and sisters
In Christ


GOD CALLS US
Jesus call us
To TRANSLATE
Our words into actions
And LOVE one another


In chapter 21 of Saint Matthew's Gospel
About the wretched tenants who:


“SEIZE the servants
Beat one-kill another-and stone a third” Matthew 21:35


So the landlord
Sends his son
To collect the debt


But the wretched tenants
Take him-throw him out of the vineyard
And “kill him”


So the landlord
Throws the tenants out
“And rents the vineyard
To other tenants”


We are called
To be Christians


We are called
To be tenants
IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD


We are called
To be Christians
To TRANSFER our words
Into actions
And produce FRUIT
For the kingdom of God


IF we do not
TRANSFER our faith into action


And produce fruit
For the kingdom of God


I AM-we are
Just like the wicked tenants
Bound to be REPLACED
By someone else


THIS parable of the wicked tenants
UNDERLINES the importance
Of our responsibilities
HERE on earth


WE are called on to LOVE GOD
And to LOVE ONE ANOTHER


“A NEW COMMANDMENT
I give unto you
LOVE one another


AS I have loved you
You MUST love one another


By this
ALL MEN will know
That you are my disciples


IF you
LOVE ONE ANOTHER” John 13:34-35


WE must remember
That love is NOT only a noun
But is also a VERB


Which means ACTION
Which means
We MUST LOVE our neighbor
In whatever way that we can


And we must seek FORGIVENESS
WHEN we harm another-
And forgive those who harm us


PASSIVE acceptance
Of Jesus' teachings
IS NOT ENOUGH


We must actually LOVE
Those that are
DIFFICULT to love


And forgive those
Who are difficult to forgive


“THEREFORE-I say to you
The kingdom of God
WILL be taken away from you
And given to a people
That will PRODUCE its FRUIT” Matthew 21:41


We need
to have FAITH


But even more so
We need to
PUT OUR FAITH INTO ACTION

“RISING very early before dawn-he left and went off to a deserted place WHERE HE PRAYED” Mark 1:35


WHAT IS the first thing that you do every day? FOR me-it is to get up and PRAY for an hour-more or less-GOD and PRAYER are the MOST important things in my life-and UNTIL I do it-I FEEL out of sorts


WE NEED quiet time every day of our lives with God-PEOPLE TODAY live their lives in such a helter-skelter way-they LOSE track of what is REALLY IMPORTANT in life-GOD AND FAMILY


You need QUIET TIME to hear GOD'S INSPIRATION and his GUIDANCE-it isn't a luxury-it is a NECESSITY-the thing that makes everything else in life-MAKE SENSE


SCRIPTURE tells us that quiet prayer was important to Jesus-He was DIVINE-but he had a HUMAN NATURE just like us-HE WAS GOD-but Jesus found some quiet time to PRAY-maybe we SHOULD TOO


it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in God's LOVE for us-and a great day to find some QUIET TIME with God








THE NEED FOR GOD




Contrary to the public opinion
In today’s world
There is a NEED FOR GOD
In our lives
In fact more today
Than ever before


More in our lives globally
More in our lives nationally
And more in our lives
Both in our families
And in our lives individually


Take a look around
Are you seeing
The same world that I am seeing


We have war in our streets
We have murder
We have rape
We have incest
And we have child abuse


Our families are NOT safe
Our children are NOT safe
And it is NOT safe to be on the streets
Of any major city in this country


And we have
MORE of a need for God
In our lives than ever before


“Do not be like them ( the pagans )
For your Father
Knows what you need
Before you ask him” Matthew 6:8


We have war among governments
We are having complete financial breakdowns
In many European countries
And yet the prevailing opinion is
For less God
In today’s world


The last time that I checked
It was not God
Who was responsible
For many of these things
It was us-but of course-WE KNOW BETTER


MORE GOD-not less


“Share with God’s people
Who are in need
Practice hospitality” Romans 12:13


MORE GOD-not less


Love God with your whole heart
Love your neighbor as yourself
Forgive 70x7


It doesn’t sound to me
Like God’s teachings
Lead to murder in the streets,
Rape, incest, or child abuse


It’s the me first-you last-or you never attitude
That exists in our world today
Selfishness
That is what gets us into trouble


Families breaking down-losing friendships
Over health, money, sex, and death


“He who despises his neighbor sins
But BLESSED is he
Who is kind to the needy” Proverbs 20:21


MORE GOD-not less


Leave the NAME OF GOD on money
Leave PUBLIC PRAYER in schools


Let us all
PRAY to the ONE true God
Whose name is LOVE


“So when you give to the needy
Do NOT announce it with trumpets
As the hypocrites do
In the synagogues
And on the streets
To be honored by man


I tell you the truth
They have received their reward in full” Matthew 6:2


More we-LESS I
MORE GOD-less me


We pray WITH GREAT NEED
To God
To my/our LORD and SAVIOR Jesus Christ
To help us
To HELP THIS WORLD
IN OUR TIME OF NEED


“The Lord
Will guide you always
He will satisfy your needs
In a sun-scorched land
And will strengthen your frame


You will be
Like a well-watered garden
Like a spring
Whose waters NEVER FAIL” Isaiah 58:11


We pray for help
To the one true God
WHOSE NAME IS LOVE


THE NEED FOR GOD

Is greater than ever before

“HE said to them, 'COME away yourselves to a deserted place and REST a while” Mark 6:31




DO YOU spend time alone with God? ANY time at all? Jesus offers this advice to his APOSTLES-
“SPEND some TIME ALONE with GOD”---because IF you don't take CARE of yourself-you won't be
of any HELP to anyone else


I wonder what Jesus thinks about our busy schedules-our rushing around-the fact that we don't have time for anyone else-HIM-or even ourselves-I WONDER what he thinks about our obsession with cell phones and social media


WE ARE rarely alone with God-and it is NOT his choice-but ours-HE IS available to us any time we want him or NEED HIM-HE never says-”NOT NOW”


GOD rested on the seventh day-and he wants us to TAKE TIME out to rest too-just to be with him-TAKE some time to be ALONE with GOD this week-TAKE some time out to REST














NEVER ALONE




We are NEVER alone
God is ALWAYS with us


He is never behind us
He may be beside us
HOLDIND US UP
But in most cases
He is walking ahead
And LEADING the way


“So the Lord alone did LEAD him
And there was NO strange god with him” Deuteronomy 32:12


WE ARE NEVER ALONE


We all face decisions
In life


Decisions of health
Decisions of finances
And MANY relationship issues


We have to accumulate
All the information
Then we have
To make a decision


For IF GOD is with us
What does it matter
Who is against us


For we are
NEVERALONE


LET GO-and let God


“Therefore
In the present case
I advise you
Leave these men alone


Let them go
For if their purpose
Or activity
Is of human origin
It will FAIL


But IF it is FROM GOD
You will not be able
To stop these men
You will only find yourselves
Fighting against God” Acts 5:38-39


TRUST in God
BELIEVE in God
Have FAITH in God


WE ARE NEVER ALONE


But HOW do we know
IF our work
Is from God
Or of human origin


Have faith
IF it is supposed to be
IT WILL BE
If it is of God
If it is meant to be
It will be-IT WILL SURVIVE


WE ARE NEVER ALONE


And for a concrete example
ALL we have to do
Is look at JESUS’ own life


HIS WORK SURVIVED
HIS WORDS SURVIVED


“Caiaphas-who was the high priest
That year-spoke up


‘You know nothing at all
You do not realize
That it is better for you
That ONE MAN die for the people
Than that the whole nation perish” John 11:49-50


But Jesus did NOT die
HIS WORK survived
Because like us


WE ARE NEVER ALONE
