HE WANTS OUR HEARTS TOO!


The STORY of Martha and Mary=
Two sisters in the bible
Has become LEGENDARY


WOMEN of the 20th-and 21^st
Centuries=are quite ACTIVE=
They WORK for a LIVING


And they(MANY)=also cook-
Clean-do laundry-take CARE of children=
And DO everything else under the sun


But in the story from
The BIBLE=Jesus basically tells Martha=
To SLOW DOWN-and come SIT at my feet
Like your sister-Mary


He=Jesus=God=WANTS
Our HEARTS too


“Martha-Martha-you ARE
Anxious and worried
About many things” Luke 10:41


I think today's STANDARDS=
Not only for women=but
For MEN just as well


FALL SHORT of Jesus' STANDARDS


He wants OUR HEARTS TOO=in fact=
I would take it further
And say


He wants MAINLY-our hearts


He wants us to REST IN HIM
He wants us to LIVE
The CONTEMPLATIVE LIVE


NOT just lives of action-
So contrary-to what the WORLD
TELLS us today
DO! DO! DO!


“And we ALL
Who with unveiled faces
CONTEMPLATE the Lord's GLORY


Are being TRANSFORMED
Into his image


With ever-increasing glory
Which comes
From the Lord
Who IS the SPIRIT” 2 Corinthians 3:18


GIVE your HEARTS to the Lord
Like Mary-once in a while
Give Martha a little break


And LIVE the contemplative life


TURN your hearts over to
The Lord=he WANTS your HEARTS TOO


“BRING an end
To the violence
Of the wicked


And make the righteous-SECURE
You-the RIGHTEOUS GOD
Who probes and MENDS HEARTS” Psalm 7:9


“The hearts of the WISE
Make their mouths prudent


And their lips
Promote instruction” Proverbs 16:23


Let us all-LIKE Mary-take
A FEW MOMENTS from our day
And SIT at the feet
Of Jesus


REST IN HIM=read a few
Pages of the Bible-DAILY


He wants to HEAL US
He wants to HELP us
He wants


To TRANSFORM US
Into the people
We CAN BE


It is TIME to CULTIVATE
Our MARY
And give Martha=and our actions=
A little break


TAKE a few items
OFF of your TO DO LIST-today-
And let GOD TRANSFORM you
Into a LITTLE MORE MARY


HE WANTS OUR HEARTS TOO!
