Yes our God is NOT just
A God of endings=but a GOD
Of NEW BEGINNINGS


This is the DAWN of
A new year=a year in which
We strive for NEW BEGINNINGS

We have a LIMITED TIME
On earth=We have ONLY
SO LONG

One minute-1 hour-1 day
CAN make our dreams
COME TRUE


And so as TIME marches on=
We must REMEMBER our God
Is ETERNAL=and our standing

Who do you trust?

IF you were in dire need?

In your faith?
Are you STANDING FIRM
in the LOVE OF GOD?


People these days
Talk a lot
about BEING SECURE=
Financially-our armed forces-and
Technological expertise


This is all great
But WHEN I think about people
And security


The people that are MOST FIRM
Are those that are
FIRM IN FAITH


They are firm people
They are secure people
And their faith has HELPED them
ENDURE many trials
And endure the tests of time


They are firm in their faith
They are firm
In their LOVE OF GOD
(And of others)


“The Lord makes FIRM
The steps
Of the one
Who DELIGHTS in him” Psalm 37:23


“When the storm
Has swept by
The wicked are gone


But the righteous
Stand firm FOREVER” Proverbs 10:25


We BELIEVERS-are firm
In our LOVE of God


And HE(God) WILL love us
Until the end of time


“Stand firm
And you will WIN LIFE” Luke 21:19


I have gone to God
When in NEED of help
I have gone to FAMILY and friends


They have never let me down
STAND FIRM-in your love-
Of God-and of others


What makes people STRONG
Is their FAITH-
Their faith in God
And their faith in family-
And our faith in each other


They are INSEPARABLE in their faith
From God and Christ
Their faith in God
Is FIRM


Their faith has been
HONED AND POLISHED
Over the years
Through the deepest of suffering


I should know
I am a SURVIVOR too
Through my STANDING FIRM
In my faith in God and Christ


And most of all-because-
GOD'S LOVE for me


“IF you do not
STAND FIRM in your faith

“By faith-
In the name of Jesus


This man whom you see

It is JESUS' name and the faith

OUR God is
The most HUMBLE BEING
In creation


He could have done anything
To show his POWER
In this world


What does he decide
To do?


But send his SON
To take on-
ALL of our sins
And suffer and die for us


Only to show his SUPREME power
Even over life and death
Even death has NO power
Over God and his creatures


“What do you possess
That you have not received?” 1 Corinthians 4:7


Nothing-our God gives us
The gift of life


And of course-what we do
With our life
Is our GIFT back to him


Today we read about Saint Paul
And his message of
FORGIVENESS and SALVATION
To the GENTILES


THROUGH the death and RESURRECTION
Of our Lord and Savior=Jesus Christ


Paul truly LOVED-
The church and community of Corinth
But he was deeply disappointed
In their claims of moral superiority


What about us today?---the CHRISTIANS
Of the 21^st century-the Catholics-the Protestants-
The Baptists-and all the other denominations-


The people of Christ today-do we FEEL
Morally and spiritually superior too?


Let me caution you=
BE HUMBLE-and show GRATITUDE=not boasting
By being thankful for the GIFT of life
And all the gifts
God and Christ have laid on our plate


The GIFTS OF GOD-remember-
Who gave you what you have


“For the Lord-takes delight
In his people


He crowns the humble-
With victory” Psalm 149:4


“He mocks proud mockers
But shows FAVOR
To the humble-
And oppressed” Proverbs 3:34


“But he gives us
More grace


That is why Scripture says:
'God opposes the proud
But shows FAVOR
To the HUMBLE'” James 4:6


I have heard so many people
Say in life:


“I am a self-made man-
Or woman”-or


“I have worked hard
For what I have got”


I am SURE you have
I am sure-
You are quite ACCOMPLISHED


But who gave you
What you have?


Who gave you the mental capacity
And financial means to be a success
In life?


It was GOD

HE WALKS WITH US


When you were YOUNG=
Did you ever think
Jesus knew EVERYTHING?


Maybe you still do=I DO!


But Jesus was DIVINE AND HUMAN=
Does that mean he made
Some of the SAME MISTAKES
That we all do?


I don't know=I DON'T think so
But I do know he was
Made of PERFECT LOVE for
He WALKS WITH US

He was DIVINE=he was human
He was part of
THE HOLY FAMILY


He was God and man
And he
STILL WALKS with us today

In the daytime

Jesus LEARNED
From Mary and Joseph


He EXPERIENCED growth and JOY
IN Mary and Joseph's LOVE


He experienced disappointments
And temptations=for he was
HUMAN too


He experienced the SADNESS
Of human life as
We all do


So he is FULLY EQUIPPED
To WALK WITH US in all matters


Our lives are FOREVER
Entwined in a BOND with Jesus
For he forever=WALKS with us


We are in a bond
With him forever


“The Lord sits enthroned
Over the flood
The Lord is enthroned as KING
FOREVER” Psalm 29:10


“When the storm
Has swept by
The wicked are one


But the righteous
Stand firm FOREVER” Proverbs 10:25


“After that
We-who are still alive
And are left


Will be caught up together
With them in the clouds
To meet the Lord
In the air


And so we will be

God has always been
CLOSE to
All of HUMANITY

The man was STRUCK DEAD


The POWER OF PRAYER

They KNEEL DOWN
To OFFER a beautiful PRAYER to God
FOR BLESSINGS

GOD wants you
To be totally happy


That is-FOR SURE


But he may differ
On what he thinks


Might bring about your happiness
He wants you
To FIND your happiness (your joy)
in him


NOT IN
The things of this world


As a matter of fact
JOY-another word for happiness
Is one of the FRUITS
Of the spirit


“BUT the fruit of the spirit
Is love-joy (happiness)-
Peace-patience-kindness-
Goodness-faithfulness-
Gentleness-and self-control


Against such things
There is no law” Galatians 5:22-23


“IF you do these things
HAPPY are you
IF you do them” John 13:17


God wants you
To be happy
HE REALLY DOES


Are you currently happy?
YES-NO-or it depends


IF you are
HAPPY in the Lord
Nothing external to you
Can make you unhappy

Going on
In your life


But you can still be happy
In the Lord

GOD KNOWS

IN HIM

When I first became ill
And no one knew what was wrong


I spent years on the
FLAT of my back-in my room-
PRAYING-and OFFERING my life to God


I felt NO NEED
To go out and publicize myself
About what I-
Was going through


GOD KNOWS IT ALL-anyway


“And when you PRAY
Do not be like
The hypocrites
….....
BUT when you pray
Go into YOUR ROOM
CLOSE the door
And pray to your Father
Who is unseen


Then your Father
Who SEES what is done in secret
WILL REWARD YOU” Matthew 6:5-6


Your prayers
Are BETWEEN you and God


Our prayers
Should be SO PERSONAL
That it sets FREE A FAITH


That it gives ALL THE GLORY
To GOD-none to ourselves

LIVING IN COMPLETE JOY
A couple of days ago=God
Was BORN in to this world
In the form of
The BABY Jesus
IF there were ever a time
To LIVE with COMPLETE JOY
To live in complete happiness
It is now=TODAY
"I am WRITING this
So that OUR JOY
May be COMPLETE"                                                                                                        1 John 1:4
There are all KINDS of
DIVIDES in the world today=
Political=religious=personal=and
Everyone seems to have their OWN OPINION
On everything=it is DIFFICULT
But the JOY OF CHRIST=
The JOY of God LIVING
In our world
Leaves me with HOPE
We just have
To keep our HEARTS OPEN
To God=to give up
TOTAL CONTROL of
Our lives
And let his LOVE
FILL us up
John the Baptist said=
"That JOY is mine=and it
Is now COMPLETE=
He must become greater
I must become less"                                                                                            John 3:29-30
And isn't that the way it is
With us=the MORE control
WE give up=the more God
Takes over=the MORE JOY
WE feel
"........then make
My JOY COMPLETE
By being like-minded
Having the same love
Being ONE in spirit

IT IS GOD'S PLAN THAT COUNTS
We all have a PLAN
For our lives=many plans
For that matter
And what HAPPENS when our
Plans FAIL=we still HAVE GOD
And God picks us UP=and
Puts us ON the
RIGHT PATH
It is GOD'S PLAN
That counts=plan on God
MAKING THE DIFFERENCE
"But the PLAN
Of the Lord
STANDS FOREVER
The design of his HEART

Let's face it
Most of us are DOERS
In life
DOERS first=planners second
It is hard to
WAIT PATIENTLY=to wait
For God=to make a
Difference=Make the BIG DIFFERENCE
In our lives
God has been WORKING
On me for years=on you too
It is DIFFICULT when
We are NOT IN CONTROL
But God DOES HIS BEST WORK
When he is the ONE
IN CONTROL
"But the man
Who has settled the matter
In his own mind
Who is under NO compulsion
But has CONTROL
Over his own will
And who has made up
His mind
NOT to marry
The virgin-------------------
This man also

GOD ALONE opens and closes
The doors of our lives=
IF something is meant
For you
DO YOUR BEST and then
Leave it up to God
He alone is the ONE
Who knows what is BEST
For you=the path and PLANS
For your life
It is GOD'S PLAN
That counts the most
In this world
"Set up the tabernacle
According to the PLAN

"There is no wisdom=
No insight=NO PLAN
That can succeed

"In him
We are also chosen

So WHEN your life
Doesn't go as planned=
BE PATIENT
FOLLOW THE PLAN

WITNESSING TO THE FAITH




As 21^st century Christians
We are called to be WITNESSES
To God and Jesus
And to our FAITH
In today's world


“….....Do not worry about
HOW you will DEFEND yourselves
Or what you will say


For the HOLY SPIRIT
Will teach you at that time
WHAT you should say” Luke 12:11


MOST of the time
Our witnessing to the FAITH
Will be in silence


Our faith
Should stick out


It should demonstrate
That we are witnesses
To the faith
By our thoughts
And by our actions


By WHERE we go
And by the KIND OF PEOPLE
We surround ourselves with


THE JOY AND LOVE
That we live our lives with
Should INSPIRE OTHERS
To be Christians


Or at least to say:
“What does that guy got-or
What does that girl got-
That makes him or her so HAPPY
Despite what they may be
Going through


We should be a
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION to others


But there will also be moments
WHEN we will be called
To speak


To give explicit testimony
To our faith


“And this gospel
Of the kingdom
Will be PREACHED


To the whole world
As a testimony
To all nations


And then the end
Will come” Matthew 24:14


Our witnessing by words
May only impact a few


But our actions
And the way
We live our lives


SHOULD IMPACT MANY


“But you
Will RECEIVE POWER
When the Holy Spirit
Comes on you


And you will be
My WITNESSES
In Jerusalem and Samaria
And to the ends
Of the earth” Acts 1:8


We will get it done
ONE PERSON at a time


For the rest of time
IF that is what it takes


We will be WITNESSES
To God-to Jesus-
Through our faith and thoughts


SOME PEOPLE
In today's world
BOTH Christian and Jew


Have given their lives
For their faith


HOPEFULLY
We will never
Have to do that


But we may
Have to TESTIFY
WHEN AND IF our faith is challenged


NOT to worry
The HOLY SPIRIT
Will give us the words
We need


The Holy Spirit
Will STREGTHEN AND INSPIRE US


That leaves us with
Just one question


How can we and
HOW will we


TESTIFY to our FAITH
THIS VERY DAY?

These words have a
REGULAR part in CHRISTIAN LIFE-
Since Luke recorded them
All those years ago


REJOICE!=Mary said “YES!”
So maybe we can
FIND IT in our hearts


To say YES too=for
God and Jesus


All it takes is a
LITTLE OPENING in
Our human heart


For God to do
HIS WORK in you and me
For GOD to do his work
In this world


Just a LITTLE OPENING
In the human heart!
And all=ALL
Is POSSIBLE with God


“Jesus looked at them
And said=
'With MAN
This is IMPOSSIBLE


But with God
All things are POSSIBLE'” Matthew 19:26


“If it is POSSIBLE
As far as
It depends on you


LIVE at peace

Yes=Mary said a FULL YES
To God=what is POSSIBLE
For this world=if you and I
Give a COMPLETE YES

It is NOT CHRISTMAS YET=and
We are already SPREADING
The good news


Yes=she=MARY=said YES


God found an OPENING to
COME IN to our world
And change it
For all of time


The opening was IN
MARY'S HUMAN HEART
She said yes=SO CAN WE

With a parable

Hidden things-things

The world was CHANGED
With Mary's SIMPLE YES=
What is possible


If we GIVE GOD just

Used to say it another way

And a smile on your face”

YOUR CHRISTMAS SEASON

“Your Christmas Season”

It’s another Christmas Season

And I wonder what’s in people’s hearts

I see people rushing everywhere

They’re moving in such a hurry

I wonder if they remember what Christmas is all about

Perhaps, it could even be tearing them apart

But this poem is not to admonish anyone

It’s merely to help me to regain my perspective

To see my responsibilities, and also enjoy the fun

I’m so thankful

There’s so much fun in just being alive

On Christmas day I’m not trying to accomplish anything

I’m not trying to strive

I’m not living in the world’s competition

I’m just relaxing and enjoying myself

I’m surrounding myself with family and friends

And if I receive their presence

My Christmas will be beyond description

Sometimes I wonder if we haven’t lost the meaning of Christmas

Are we only concerned with our number of presents

Or if the present we got cost as much as what we spent

Maybe, we’re comparing our decorations to that of our neighbor

Is our Christmas wreath as pretty as the one next door

What you do and believe is what’s at the core

Of the Christmas season

In my Christmas, I want a blend

Of loving and sharing with my Family and friends

And for the one’s who are far away

The greetings we receive and the greeting we send

A nice glass of red wine

And a home-cooked meal

The opportunity to sit down and dine

And relax once more

What do you want in your Christmas season

Whatever it is

I hope it is in the true spirit of Christmas

And I hope it comes your way

To be attributed to him.  He had a great love of children.  Legend has it that he once

LEARNING TO
LOVE OUR CHILDREN




One thing
That I KNOW


We adults
NEED TO LEARN
To do better
In this world is:


To learn
TO LOVE OUR CHILDREN


After all
We USED to be children


And maybe IF we
Were taught a little better
As children


Maybe there would be
MORE LOVE in the world
And NOT as much
Hatred and violence


Jesus said it BEST,


“See that
You do not despise


One of these LITTLE ONES


For I say to you
That their ANGELS in heaven
ALWAYS look upon
The face
Of my heavenly FATHER” Matthew 18:10


Yet to put out
A couple of statistics:


“OVER the past 10 years
20,000 American children
Are BELIEVED to have been killed
In their own homes
By FAMILY MEMBERS”

“1,825 children are abused
Or neglected each day”
2,014 CHILDREN'S DEFENSE FUND-annual statement of America's Report




AND yet-we are called
To be EXAMPLES
Of LOVE-FORGIVENESS-and KINDNESS
For our children
In today's world


Maybe the REASON
Children aren't growing up
To be model adults


Is that we adults
Aren't getting it right-
OURSELVES


We NEED to LEARN to LOVE
OUR CHILDREN


In a 1970 song”TEACH YOUR CHILDREN” by:
Crosby-Stills-Nash and Young
Graham Nash wrote:


“YOU
Who are on the road
MUST have a code
That we CAN LIVE BY”


And I can
THINK of no better code
Than the one
That Jesus himself LIVED BY
And tried to TEACH US


“LOVE THE LORD

This is the first
And greatest commandment


And the second is LIKE it
LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR
As yourself


ALL the law
And the prophets

Have two godchildren-and four nieces

Or at least TRY TO

Dear LORD=WE pray


HELP US
To learn to BELIEVE that

Today we have
The story of TWO PROMISES


ONE is an OLD MAN who scoffs
At first=thought the ANGEL
Was FULL OF IT


And then there was the VIRGIN MARY=
Who responded=
“NOTHING will be impossible
For God” Luke 1:37


“O ROOT of Jesse
Sign of God's LOVE
For all his people


Come to SAVE US
Without delay” Gospel antiphon


God ALWAYS keeps his
PROMISES=and so IF you make one
To him


Or HE has made one to you
Expect them to COME TRUE


CHRISTMAS is coming soon
And it is impossible
To ignore


The SANTAS in the malls-
The trees TOPPED with stars
And the cards and carols=
They all say=
CHRISTMAS IS HERE


But Christ is COMING
BELIEVE that


Believe in the
PROMISES OF GOD


“Then they believed his PROMISES
And sang his praise” Psalm 106:12


“For no matter
How many PROMISES
God has made


They are “YES”
In Christ
And so through him


The “AMEN” is spoken
By us=in the
GLORY OF GOD” 2 Corinthians 1:20


Zechariah didn't believe
He was going to have
A son with Elizabeth


Didn't believe enough
To name him--------”JOHN”


He didn't believe
In THE PROMISE OF GOD


But Mary did=she BELIEVED
She was pregnant
By the HOLY SPIRIT


She believed
In the PROMISES


So WHICH are you=
Are you a BELIEVER
In GOD?
Or are you not?


There is no gray area
There is NO
Mr. IN BETWEEN


Are you the STUBBORN
Old man like Zechariah?


Or are you the
VIRGIN-CHILD Mary
Who always believed?


REMEMBER=Paul's definition
Of LOVE
“Bears all things=
BELIEVES all things=hopes all things=
ENDURES all things”                                         1 Corinthians 13:7


Believe in THE PROMISES of God=
THEY COME TRUE

We all want to do
God's WILL-of course-
But DISCERNING the will
Of God is difficult


We have to WAIT with courage
And with PATIENCE to hear
God's will-and sometimes-
It takes a LONG long time

It SEEMS like we are
ALWAYS waiting for something
In life

For retirement-to JOIN AARP
We PRAY to God
For certain things


And sometimes we just
have to WAIT
For GOD'S ANSWERS

YIELDS patience


It is one's glory
To overlook an offense” Proverbs 19:11


“Therefore-
As GOD'S chosen people
Holy and dearly loved


CLOTHE yourself with compassion-
Kindness-humility-and PATIENCE” Colossians 3:12


When we “WAIT”
For the Lord
To move us
IN a certain direction


We REMEMBER
Not to get ahead
Of God's PLANS
For our lives


WAITING on God's WILL
With patience


Waiting for the Lord
To move us in
A SPECIFIC DIRECTION


Waiting on
The WORD OF GOD


“Wait for the Lord
Be STRONG and take heart
And WAIT-for the Lord” Psalm 27:14


“I wait for the Lord
My whole being waits” Psalm 130:5


“Yet the Lord
LONGS to be gracious
To you


Therefore-he will RISE UP
To show you compassion


For the Lord
Is a God of justice
BLESSED are all
Who WAIT for him” Isaiah 30:18


It takes a lot
Of courage to wait
FOR GOD'S WILL


To be KNOWN to us


Dear Lord-HELP US to be patient
And WAIT for the discernment
Of God's WILL-before-
We MOVE in a particular direction


Help us to HAVE
The courage and the wisdom
To WAIT PATIENTLY for your plan
For me


Rather than TRYING to figure
It out-ALL on our own-

FULFILLING THE LORD'S DESIRES


IMAGINE this:


You are ENGAGED
To be married=
But you find out
Your girlfriend is pregnant


You want to BREAK UP=
But an ANGEL tells you
Mary was CONCEIVED
By the HOLY SPIRIT!


You FOLLOW God's plans=
And FULFILL the Lord's desires


“When Joseph awoke, he did
As the ANGEL of the Lord
Had COMMANDED him


And took his wife
Into his HOME” Matthew 1:24


And the rest
As they say is HISTORY


When we FOLLOW
God's plans=we are tested=
We are CHALLENGED


But it is REWARDING to FIND
Our way=it is rewarding
To follow
The PLANS OF GOD


To FOLLOW his desires


“Take delight
In the Lord


And we will give you
The DESIRES of your heart” Psalm 37:4


“What a person DESIRES
Is unfailing love


Better to be poor
Than a liar” Proverbs 19:22


And that is
What Joseph had for Mary
UNFAILING LOVE


And that is what God
Had for Jesus-Mary-and Joseph
Was=unfailing love


Though they
Were severely tested


And he=God has for
Us too=is UNFAILING LOVE
If we just continue
To have the FAITH
That things will turn out
ALL RIGHT


But wouldn't it be EASIER
To have that FAITH
If we had an ANGEL
Or messenger
Appear to us too


Continue to BELIEVE=
God will FULFILL his
DESIRES through you


“For it is
With your heart
That you BELIEVE
And be justified


And it is with your mouth
That you profess your FAITH
And be saved” Romans 10:10


“And this is his command=
To BELIEVE
In the name of his SON=
Jesus Christ


And to LOVE one another
As he commanded us” 1 John 3:23


We may NOT have an ANGEL
Like Joseph


But we have SCRIPTURE=
We have Sacred Tradition=
And we have the saints=
And EVERY day angels=as well
As our faith


God=Jesus=will indeed
FULFILL HIS DESIRES through us


In the names of Jesus and=our ALL LOVING FATHER=
Whose love is UNFAILING and EVERLASTING

Drugs-pornography-etc., etc., etc.


It can even be another person
Or group of people
That aren't any good for you


Don't sacrifice your lives
To the idols of this world


“If the world hates you
Keep in mind
That it
Hated me first


If you
Belonged to the world


It would love you
As its own


As it is
You do not belong
To the world


But I have CHOSEN YOU
Out of the world


That is WHY
The world hates you” John 15:18-19


You belong
TOTALLY to God


“Who has a claim against me
That I must pay?


Everything under heaven
BELONGS to me” Job 41:11


Eternal life
IS already in us


ALL we have to do
Is to KEEP our priorities in order


And choose GOD AND FAMILY
Over the idols
In this world


CHOOSE what is true and good
For our souls


“Now CHOOSE LIFE
So that you
And your children may live


And that you may LOVE
The Lord your God
Listen to his voice
And hold fast to him


For the Lord
IS YOUR LIFE
And he will give you
MANY years in the land


He swore to give
To your fathers-
Abraham-Isaac-and Jacob” Deuteronomy 30:19-20


And we must always REMEMBER
We are the ADOPTED CHILDREN
Of God


We are inquisitive
We are tempted


We can REACH
For God and FAMILY
And the good things
Of this world


Or we can choose
The idols of our world
(sex-money-worldly values-etc., etc., etc.)


What path
Are you going to choose?


The choice is ours
But remember

For us=in today's world
We all have a
CALLING in life


For SOME of us=OUR CALLING=
Our MISSION is in God=and
What he is telling us to do


It can be a BIT
Confusing=and that is the way
It was for Jesus' disciples


“Then the disciples UNDERSTOOD
That he was
Speaking to them of
JOHN the Baptist” Matthew 17:13


I can SYMPATHIZE with the
Disciples' sense of disorientation
And INABILITY to understand Jesus


It isn't all that different=
For us=HIS DISCIPLES
In today's world


But maybe the MOST
Important thing=isn't that
We get it exactly right


Just that we are AVAILABLE
To ANSWER THE CALL
Of God and Jesus
In today's world


We don't have to worry
About getting it right=for God
ALWAYS gets it right
In the LONG RUN


We just have to be
AVAILABLE=for the
CALLING OF GOD


“And everyone who CALLS
On the name of the Lord
Will be saved


For on Mount Zion
And in Jerusalem
There will be DELIVERANCE


As the Lord
Has said


Even among the survivors
Whom the LORD CALLS” Joel 2:32


“And everyone who CALLS
On the name of the Lord
WILL BE SAVED” Acts 2:21


It is a CONFUSING TIME
In the world today=
There are MANY who
DON'T BELIEVE God exists


And lets NOT FORGET
It was confusing
For the EARLY DISCIPLES too


They had just witnessed
The TRANSFIGURATION=the appearance
Of Elijah and Abraham


And Jesus tells them
To KEEP IT to themselves


I would want to
YELL it from the
Tallest mountain=as I am SURE

Getting it right=just ANSWER
THE CALL


The LORD will get it RIGHT

FINDING GOD
IN THE PRESENCE
OF ONE ANOTHER




We don't ever
Have to worry about
FINDING GOD


For his PRESENCE
Is within us


He walks with us
Through every situation
We encounter in life


“Because of my integrity
You uphold me
And set me in your PRESENCE-
FOEVER” Psalm 41:12


“Dear children
Let us NOT love with words or speech
BUT with actions and truth


This is how
We know
That we belong
To the truth


And HOW we set
Our hearts
In his presence” 1 John 3:18-19


But it is NOT ENOUGH
To know
That God lives WITHIN us
And that he is present
In our hearts


We MUST KNOW
That the PRESENCE OF God
Ia ALIVE=in our brothers and sisters
In Christ


Of ALL people of God


And all people
WHETHER they believe in God
Or not


And treat them accordingly
With DIGNITY=with KINDNESS=
And with LOVE


“A new command
I give you:


LOVE ONE ANOTHER


As I have loved you
So you must love
ONE ANOTHER


By this
Everyone will know
That you are my disciples
IF you love one another” John 13:34-35


We must UNDERSTAND
That LOVE is not just a noun
But it is also a verb
And verb implies action


And we need to be
NOT just hearers
of the words-BUT DOERS


“Be doers of the word-
And not hearers only-
DO what it says” James 1:22


LOVE-love-love=EVERYONE


For the presence of God
Is in them


Do you have an action plan
For loving others
Mine is very simple:


Birthday cards-friendship cards-
Poems-and an encouraging word
(and HELPING when I can)


And most of all
LETTING the person know
That you CARE about them


You would be surprised
How an ENCOURAGING WORD
Can pick you up


MANY of you
Have picked me up
In my time of need


And I am HERE for you
If you need me


And don't UNDERESTIMATE
TH POWER OF PRAYER for others


OFTEN times
This is our BEST weapon
And we can let others know
That they are in our prayers


“You have made known
To me
The paths of life


You FILL me with joy
In your presence”


Dear Lord: WE PRAY


Thank you for your presence
Of living in us


And we ask you
To HELP US
To let others know


That we FIND
THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Beside RESTFUL WATERS he leads me

I have ALWAYS LOVED the 23^rd psalm-WHERE do you FIND the VERDANT PASTURES in your life-or the RESTFUL WATERS


FOR me-it is in my home-in my bedroom at rest-or WHEN I FIND the time to write new poetry-while looking at the lake outside of my apartment-or WHEN at the OCEAN-wherever it is for you-I am sure that it is a place that BRINGS you peace-and I AM SURE that it is a place that reminds you of HOW MUCH LOVE God has for you-as it does me


it is a GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us and a great day to RECOGNIZE the green pastures and fresh waters-and SPEND TIME with God there today












LOVE-A DREAM WORTH LIVING




“IF I have ALL FAITH
So as to move mountains
But I do not have love
I AM NOTHING” 1 Corinthians 13:2


WHEN I was younger
In my late teens
In my early 20's
I had a PLAN A


And Plan A
Was to meet someone
Settle down
Have a family and a career
And LIVE HAPPILY ever after


And I am SURE
There are those of you
That had that same dream
As I


It's funny
HOW things work out


MY WHOLE LIFE
Changed on my 22^nd birthday
With an operation


AND GOD
Brought me back to him


And maybe GOD
HAS BROUGHT YOU
Back to him
In some other way


I HOPE SO


For there are many of us
Out there
Who have lost track
Of themselves
And their dreams
Of CHANGING the world


By living the wrong dream
And they can't
FIND THEIR WAY
Back to God


Love is
THE ONLY DREAM
Worth living


“LOVE is patient
Love is kind


It does not envy
It does not boast


It is not proud
It is not rude


It is not self seeking
It is NOT easily angered
It KEEPS no record
Of wrongs


LOVE does not delight
In evil
But REJOICES
With the truth


IT ALWAYS PROTECTS
Always trusts
Always hopes
Always perseveres


LOVE NEVER FAILS” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8


As we
Go about our journey
In life
We forget
That love


THE GIVING AND RECEIVING
Of love
IS the only dream
Worth living


NO OTHER
Kind of investment
Of our time and treasure
WILL BRING us peace


The funny thing
About love
Is that
The more we give
THE MORE we have to give


GOD-YOU ARE LOVE
YOU ARE my very life

2,019=A NEW START AWAITS


2,019 is rapidly approaching=
As we MOVE through Advent
And AWAIT BABY JESUS


A new start AWAITS=for
Us all=in
Just a FEW WEEKS

O maggot Israel


I will HELP YOU
Says the Lord” Isaiah 41:14


Worms and maggots are
NOT things I like
To think of


But God=Isaiah tells us
NEW HOPE
Awaits for us all


God will HELP Us
In 2019
He will BEGIN to
BRING our dreams
Into fruition


God=above=RECOGNIZES
The decomposing culture
Of Israel


He recognizes a subdued
And HOPELESS CULTURE=and
Expresses a DESIRE
To help them


I wonder what Isaiah
Would WRITE about the
CULTURE of America
In 2019


In any case=I am SURE
Our God would want to
HELP America collectively


And us INDIVIDUALLY
Next year


A NEW START-
AWAITS US ALL


Let the PAST go
Let the things
In the past
BE THE PAST


Look to NEW BEGINNINGS


“The fear of the Lord
Is the BEGINNING
Of wisdom


All who follow
His precepts
Have good understanding


To him
BELONGS eternal praise” Psalm 111:10


“The BEGINNING of wisdom
Is this=get wisdom


Though it cost
All you have
Get understanding” Proverbs 4:7


“That which
Was from the BEGINNING

Which we have seen

This life we have

God NEVER abandons us
A FRESH START is coming

TODAY'S SAINT=Saint LUCY

SAINT LUCY---VISION




Lucy was a virgin
A martyr
And today she is considered to be
The patroness of the blind


She died in the year of 304
During the persecution of Diocletian


She was
A wealthy Sicilian
Who refused marriage offers
Gave her goods
To the poor
And was accused
By one of her suitors
To the authorities


The judge ordered her
To be sent to a brothel
And become violated


But she became miraculously immovable


He tried to have her burnt
Also unsuccessful


Finally---she was killed
By a sword


Legend has it
That her eyes too---were torn out
Only to be miraculously restored


Dear Lord---I pray---we pray
That in a world
That has become blinded
By your vision for it


Blinded by greed
Blinded by sexual lust
And just blinded
By our own pure selfishness


We pray
That we have the faith
Of Saint Lucy
And we pray for your vision


Your vision for our world
And your vision---for each of us individually
And all of us collectively
To be returned to us---TO YOU
