OUTSIDERS ARE IMPORTANT TOO
Today we read=about
A couple of OUTSIDERS
Who make a difference
It is never fun=to
BE EXCLUDED=it is never fun
NOT to be a member
Of a group
But we CAN still make
A difference=we can still
MAKE a profound difference
In the way
Jonah and=The Good Samaritan did
“Where do you come from?
What is your country=and to
What people=do you BELONG?”
Jonah 1:8
MOST of us know
What it feels like
To be an OUTSIDER
We all want
To be WELCOMED
And accepted
But often times=
We are judged-and misunderstood
And all of this=makes us
FEEL INSECURE
“The secret things
BELONG to the Lord
Our God
But the things revealed
BELONG to us
And to our children forever
That we may follow
All the words-of this law”
Deuteronomy 29:29
“Dominion and awe
BELONG to God
He establishes order
In the heights of heaven”
Job 25:2
Today we have the story
Of the OUTSIDER Jonah
He has the experience
Of being thrown
Off the boat=INTO the raging sea
But there is more to
The story=Jonah’s presence
And message=enables others
To SURVIVE
Jonah was an OUTSIDER=
And from this story=we see
OUTSIDERS ARE IMPORTANT TOO!
“Be wise=in the way=
You act toward OUTSIDERS
Make the most
Of every opportunity” Colossians
4:5
And in the GOSPEL today
We have=the story of
THE GOOD SAMARITAN
Another outsider
He teaches us
What a NEIGHBOR IS
And how to truly LOVE
And CARE for someone
He is a surprising HERO
Used by Jesus=
A person on the outside of society
Who really cares=
OUTSIDERS ARE IMPORTANT TOO!
“He must also
Have a good reputation
WITH OUTSIDERS
So that=he will not fall
Into disgrace
And into the devil’s trap” 1
Timothy 3:7
Jonah and the Good Samaritan
Are EXAMPLES of outsiders
Who make a difference
DEAR LORD=help us
To VALUE OUTSIDERS=
And always welcome them
With hospitality
OUTSIDERS ARE IMPORTANT TOO!
In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our EVER WELCOMING HOLY
FATHER God!
