SITTING IN HIS LOVING PRESENCE
The GOSPEL in Luke today
Tells us again=
That there is
ONLY ONE thing needed
And that is SITTING
In the LOVING PRESENCE
Of Jesus=paying attention
To him=
And his TEACHINGS
“Mary…..sat beside the Lord…..
Listening to him speak
Martha=burdened
With much serving
Came to him and said
‘Lord=do you not care
That my sister
Has left me=by myself
To do the serving?
Tell her to help me’
The Lord said
To her in reply
‘Martha-Martha
You are ANXIOUS and worried
About many things
There is NEED=of
ONLY ONE THING=
Mary has chosen
The better part…..’”
Luke 10:39-42
And isn’t that
The TRUTH=we burden ourselves
With many things
In this life
WHEN all we really
NEED to do=
Is pay attention
To the Lord
All we need to do
Is LISTEN to Jesus
And follow his teachings
SITTING IN HIS
LOVING PRESENCE!
I don’t think
Of it=so much
As Jesus castigating Martha
But picture Jesus
Telling Martha in a LOVING TONE
To calm down
And relax
That ALL things will pass
In this life=EXCEPT
The loving presence
Of Jesus our Lord
And we should listen
For that=
We should PAY ATTENTION
For that
SITTING AND FINDING the
Loving presence of our Lord
“All the ways
Of the Lord
ARE LOVING=and faithful
Toward those
Who keep the demands
Of the covenant”
Psalm 25:10
“Keep on LOVING
One another=
As brothers and sisters”
Hebrews 13:1
“This is how we know
That we love
The children of God
BY LOVING GOD
And carrying out=his commands” 1
John 5:2
Dear Lord=we PRAY
That when we are
ANXIOUS like Martha
That we pause and listen
FOR YOUR LOVING PRESENCE
Just like Mary did
HELP us to STAY
Close to you Lord
AND YOUR LOVING PRESENCE!
In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our EVER
PRESENT=living-loving=HOLY FATHER GDOD!
