HUMILITY
Did you ever
Stop and think
That the one quality
Jesus really wanted us
To learn from him---was humility
Humility is/means
To be humble
It means to have
A modest opinion of yourself
It means to think of others
As better than yourself
Are you serious Lord
Have you seen
The world we live in today
But Jesus knows
He knows
That human nature is human nature
And this same human nature
That we see in our world today
Is the same human nature
That was around 2000 years ago
Can you imagine---BEING GOD
And living
In a selfish sinful world
He knows
What you and I put up with every day
Because he did it too
“Do nothing
Out of selfish ambition
Or vain conceit
Consider others
Better than yourselves
Each of you should look
Not only to your own interest
But also
To the interest of others”
Philippians 2:3 & 4
He knows
He did it
CAN YOU IMAGINE
Sitting around a table
With eleven of your friends
Then getting up
And getting a basin of soap and water
And washing all of their feet
Including the one
That you know who is
going to betray you
And send you to humiliation ( NOT humility ), and death
But Jesus did it
And could do it
Because HE KNEW who he was
And he was
Trying to TEACH us something
“Not so with you
Instead
Whoever wants to be great
Among you
Must be your servant
And whoever wants to be first
Must be slave to all
For even the Son of Man
Did not come to be served
But to serve
And to live his life
As a ransom for many” Mark 10:43-45
HE KNOWS
He knows
How hard it is to be a true Christian
In today’s world
“Remind the people
To be subject to rulers and authorities
To be obedient
To be ready to do
Whatever is good
To slander no one
To be peaceful and considerate
And to show true humility
Toward ALL men”
Titus 3:2
