I WEAR THE SCARS

 

 

I wear the scars

Of a lifetime of illness

I wear the scars

Of seven operations

But you know what

Life hasn’t beaten me yet

 

It can’t take my heart

It can’t take my soul

It can destroy my body

But in a way

I still feel whole

 

I wear the scars

Of many failed relationships

And no matter

How hard I tried

I couldn’t make it right

 

But

It can’t take my heart

It can’t take my soul

In a way

They destroyed my mind

But in a way

I still feel whole

 

I have been the subject

Of much lies and gossip

But I guess we all have

 

Why do we do that

To each other

Because you know what

From time to time

We are all going to slip

 

Lies and gossip

They can’t take my heart

They can’t take my soul

And if I don’t let it

It can’t leave me

Feeling less than whole

 

Yes I have the scars

Both physical and mental

But I still feel whole

I still feel whole
