IT IS ABOUT THE BROKEN

IT IS ABOUT THE BROKEN


Jesus fed 5,000=
With five loaves of bread=
And 4,000 with seven loaves
Of bread


But the disciples STILL seemed
To be WORRYING
About the amount of bread


But Jesus REMINDS them today=
It is NOT about the bread
It is about the BROKEN


It is about NOTICING what
Has been discarded=left over=
And deemed LESS THAN RELEVANT


“Do you NOT REMEMBER.......how many
Wicker baskets
FULL of fragments
You picked up?” Mark 8:18-19


Yes=Jesus reminds the disciples
Of TWO OCCASIONS


How he commanded then
To GATHER up
The crumbs


There were once
Twelve baskets full
And once seven


IT IS ABOUT
THE BROKEN


Yes=it is about=
THE BROKEN=those people
In this world
That the world discards


They are relevant=
They are IMPORTANT to God=
ALL people are important to God


“Woe to you-
Teachers of the law
And Pharisees=you HYPOCRITES!


You give a tenth
Of your spices=mint-
Dill-and cumin


But you have NEGLECTED
The MORE IMPORTANT matters
Of the law=
Justice-mercy-and faithfulness” Matthew 23:23


“But what does it matter?
The IMPORTANT THING
Is that
In every way


Whether from false motives
Or true
CHRIST is preached


And because of this=
I REJOICE” Philippians 1:18


Yes=all people are
LOVED by God=
All people
Are IMPORTANT to God


What a world this
Would be=if every member
Of this world
Were VALUED by society


“When he found one
Of GREAT VALUE
He went away


And sold everything
He had
And bought it” Matthew 17:46


Every person is a TREASURE
And we should be
TREATED as such


Jesus tells us=HIS
MODERN DAY DISCIPLES
To pay attention
To what


This world counts as WORTHLESS=
Those who seem
To count for NOTHING


We are all=OF GREAT IMPORTANCE
To God=especially
The BROKEN PEOPLE
Of this world


In the names of Jesus=and our FATHER who VALUES US ALL
