THE CROSS IS IN VIEW


Jesus REMINDS US today=
That for those who
FOLLOW HIM


The CROSS is never far
From view


That is ESPECIALLY true today=
The day before LENT
The cross is apparent
For all of us


“HUMBLE yourselves
Before the Lord=
And he will exalt you” James 4:10


We are on the THRESHOLD of Lent
And Saint James reminds us
That we should
EXAMINE OUR CONSCIENCE


And set the tone
For our penitential season


The CROSS=Jesus' cross
And our own cross
IS IN VIEW


“Whoever does not
Take up their CROSS


And follow me=
Is not worthy
of me” Matthew 10:38


“For Christ did
Not send me
To baptize=


But to preach
The gospel--------


NOT with wisdom and eloquence=
Less the CROSS OF CHRIST
Be emptied of its power” 1 Corinthians 1:17


“And being found
In appearance
As a man=
He humbled himself


By becoming
Obedient to death--------
Even death ON A CROSS” Philippians 2:8


But for us
MODERN day Christians
It is NOT


About death on the cross
But about OUR LIVES=
Living them
On our INDIVIDUAL CROSSES


In the manner
Of Christ HIMSELF


Saint James reminds us=
He CALLS OUT
Our double-mindedness


And our inclinations
To LIVE IN
Our passions


So today-
On our FAT TUESDAY
Let us keep
A realistic eye
On our moral compass


Let us keep
OUR CROSSES IN VIEW


The cross today=
IS IN OUR VIEW


Let us get ready
Let us LOOK at the CROSS


“And having
Disarmed the powers
And authorities


He made a public spectacle
Of them


Triumphing over them
BY THE CROSS” Colossians 2:15


So how can we STRENGTHEN
Our relationship
With Jesus this Lent?


Let us KEEP THE CROSS
In full view=
BOTH his and ours


In the names of Jesus=and our ever LIVING LOVING God the FATHER
