OVERCOMING OUR SINFUL WAYS!

 

MEN AND WOMEN=have

Been in a BATTLE=with themselves

SINCE the beginning of time

 

Today we have TWO EXAMPLES

Of men=who overcame themselves-WHO

OVERCAME their sinful ways

OVERCOMING OUR SINFUL WAYS!

 

“The Lord=WILL RESCUE ME

From every evil threat=and bring me

To his heavenly Kingdom”                                                                                                   2 Timothy 4:18

 

Today=we CELEBRATE=

The feast of two great Saints TOGETHER

Saints Peter and Paul

 

WHO OVERCAME=their sinful ways

And FOUND THEMSELVES in Christ=that is

EACH ONE=of our challenges too

To overcome ourselves

OVERCOMING OUR SINFUL WAYS!

 

“And I tell you=That

You are Peter=and on this rock

I will=build my church

 

And the gates of Hades=

WILL NOT OVERCOME IT”                                                                                                      Matthew 16:18

 

“Immediately=the boy’s father exclaimed=

‘I do believe=help me=OVERCOME MY UNBELIEF’”                                                          Mark 9:24

 

Peter and Paul=both had their FAILINGS

Their sins=but

The Lord rescued them

 

Just as=HE RESCUES US=as we

FIGHT OUR BATTLES=with good and evil

IN our lives

OVERCOMING OUR SINFUL WAYS!=just as

Saint Peter and Saint Paul did

 

Peter REBELLED against Jesus=

By trying to prevent him=from accepting

THE CROSS

 

Then at the cross=PETER DENIED

He ever knew Jesus

 

But the Lord=FORGAVE HIM=and

BUILT his Church with him

 

Paul violently=OPPOSED Christianity=and

Tried to KILL CHRISTIANS=yet

The Lord FORGAVE HIM=and he went on

To BECOME=Christianity’s greatest missionary

 

Peter and Paul=OVERCAME

THEIR SINFUL WAYS=How about us?

We CAN do it too

OVERCOMING OUR SINFUL WAYS!

 

“Do not=BE OVERCOME=by evil

BUT OVERCOME EVIL=with good”                                                                                               Romans 12:21

 

“……..For everyone=Born of God

OVERCOMES THE WORLD=

This is=the victory=that has

OVERCOME THE WORLD=even our faith”                                                                             1 John 5:4

 

The Lord SHOWED Peter and Paul

MERCY AND FORGIVENESS=there is

NO REASON to think=that he won’t do

THE SAME=for us

 

Ny friends=we are=IN A BATTLE

WITH OURSELVES=just like Saint Peter

And Saint Paul

 

With the Lord=ON OUR SIDE

We will=WIN our battles too

OVERCOMING OUR SINFUL WAYS!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our EVER FORGIVING=EVER LOVING=ever living=Holy Father God!
