Jesus PROMISES us that
EVERYTHING in this world
Will pass away=all that is=
EXCEPT his EVERLASTING-truthful-
And LOVING WORDS


“Heaven and earth will PASS AWAY-but my words-
Will NOT pass away” Luke 21:33


This is ONE of=if not
My MOST FAVORITE line from
The bible=Jesus tells us that
THE WORD OF God brings
ETERNAL LIFE


MOST of you who have been
READING my writings for years


KNOW-that I made a deathbed
PROMISE=when I was 22=”to LIVE
For my family-friends-and
ALL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE”


I have TRIED to keep this PROMISE=
For 41 years now-yet-
I can't take any credit


ALL CREDIT goes to God and Jesus
For my life=till the end of time=for I BELIEVE
I will LIVE FOREVER IN FAITH
In God and Christ
(as MANY of you will too)


RELYING on the PROMISES of God=
God does not lie=God does
KEEP HIS PROMISES


“My God
On whom I can RELY


God will go BEFORE me
And let me gloat-over those-
Who slander me” Psalm 59:10




“WHO among you-
FEARS the Lord
And obeys


The WORD of his servant?
Let the ONE
Who WALKS in the dark
Who has no light
TRUST in the name-
Of the Lord


And RELY
On their GOD” Isaiah 50:10


We LIVE in a culture
That is AFRAID of death


Yet it lacks
RESPECT for life


We must RELY
On the PROMISE of Jesus
To be with us ALWAYS


IF we BELIEVE in God
If we believe in Jesus
If we live BY HIS WORDS
We will live ETERNALLY
With God and Christ


“Your word Lord-is ETERNAL-
It stands FIRM
In the heavens” Psalm 119:89


“Trust in the LORD FOREVER-
For the Lord-


The Lord himself=
Is the ROCK ETERNAL” Isaiah 26:4


We are the AMBASSADORS of
CHRIST'S LOVE=inviting ALL to live
ETERNALLY in him


A tender word=a warm SMILE=
POINTS to Jesus and God and HOW NEAR
His eternal kingdom is


KEEP LIVING God's words=keep RELYING
On the PROMISES of God
It will NEVER FAIL YOU

I wonder if he felt like
He was “JUST PETER'S BROTHER”


Nevertheless=he left all behind
To FOLLOW Jesus


What are we/what am I/willing
To LEAVE EHIND in order to
FOLLOW Jesus?


Am I CAPTIVATED by Jesus?


“At ONCE they left their nets and
FOLLOWED HIM” Matthew 4:20


There is ONE MAJOR EXCEPTION
Where Andrew is mentioned without Peter=
He was MENTIONED to be a Disciple
Of John's


John said to Andrew
And another disciple


“LOOK there is
The LAMB OF GOD”


At that point=Andrew and this
Other disciple BEGAN to follow Jesus


CAPTIVATED by Jesus
Was Saint Andrew


Are we too=CAPTIVATED=
We should be captivated
By Jesus' GENTLE and LOVING WAYS


“A gentle answer=
Turns away wrath


But a harsh word
STIRS up anger” Proverbs 15:1


“Take my yoke upon you
And LEARN from me


For I am GENLE and
HUMBLE in heart
And you will find rest
For your souls


For my yoke is easy
And my burden is LIGHT” Matthew11:29-30


Andrew MUST have gone home
And told his brother Peter
About Jesus


But there was a PRICE to pay
They had to LEAVE their
Old lives behind


What are WE willing
To leave behind-in order-
To FOLLOW Jesus?


Materialism-drugs-pornography-
Alcoholism-whatever it is-
There is a COST to be-
A TRUE FOLLOWER of Jesus


“Then he said to them all:
'WHOEVER wants to be my disciple
Must DENY themselves


And take up their CROSS DAILY
And FOLLOW ME'” Luke 9:23


Are you CAPTIVATED by Jesus
Like Andrew was?

PICK up your cross=CAST your nets=
FISH for people=and FOLLOW Jesus
AL the days of your life

SAVED=to find our SALVATION=
But there are a lot of
FALSE PROPHETS=a lot of FALSE
Things in this world
To HANG your hat on


But we can FIND our REDEMTION=
Our salvation=only in God=
ONLY IN JESUS!

Today Jesus warns us AGAINST
Putting our beliefs in anyone-
Or anything other than himself


Putting our FAITH in=putting our BELIEFS
ONLY IN JESUS!


Especially when life around us
Is FILLED with wars-earthquakes-
And darkness


And inside of us=we
Are FILLED with TURMOIL


Putting our TRUST in=our faith in=
And our BELIEFS=ONLY IN Jesus!

To stumble=it would be better
For them-to have a large millstone
HUNG around their neck

On thing you can be SURE of
GOD is REAL-
Jesus is real-and PRESENT
Of all things of life=
Good and bad


“Because of my INTEGRITY-
You uphold me


And set me in
YOUR PRESENCE FOREVER” Psalm 41:12


Dear LORD=you ALONE
Are our SAVIOR


We place our TRUST in you=
For we BELIEVE you are with us
During ALL the events of our life=
Smooth=and when things are rough


For it is ONLY IN JESUS!=that we do indeed=
FIND OURSELVES

We all KNOW=Jesus gave
All that he was=his
Last breath for the people
Of this world


Today we READ about the
POOR WIDOW and putting her LAST
Two coins into the collection basket


“.........And he NOTICED a poor widow
Putting in two small coins” Luke 21:2


Some people like to SHOW OFF
Their wealth=and that is EXACTLY
What the scribes were doing


But Jesus POINTS to the widow=
Who GIVES not from her surplus=
But from her meager resources


And that is ALL-any of us
Can do-is GIVE what you have


GIVING all that you have=
In time-TALENT-and energy for others


And that is exactly
WHAT JESUS DID


GIVING all that you have
GIVING YOUR TOTAL SELF


“All day long-
He craves for more


But the righteous GIVE
Without sparing” Proverbs 21:26


“Give=and it WILL BE
GIVEN to you


A good measure-pressed down
Shaken together and running over
Will be POURED-

There was a RECENT STORY
In the news about=
A HOMELESS MAN who gave
His last $20 to get gas
For a woman=so she could get home


She=IN THANKS=set up=a
“GO FUND ME” page for him=
And he now has $300,000


For which he says he is
GOING to use to
HELP OTHERS


GIVING all that you have=that is
The least any one of us
Can do=and should TRY TO DO


If we can do nothing else=
We can PRAY FOR OTHERS


GIVE what you got=give all
That you have and BE KIND=
BE KIND=BE KIND


And GENEROUS and PURE OF HEART


“GOOD will come to
Those who are GENEROUS
And lend freely


Who conduct their affairs
With justice” Psalm 112:5


“The GENEROUS-
Will themselves be BLESSED


For they SHARE their food
With the poor” Proverbs 22:9


ALWAYS REMEMBER=
Give all that you HAVE TO GIVE
Like Jesus=Like the POOR WIDOW=
And like the HOMELESS MAN

2,000 years ago=as well as TODAY
We were in DESPERATE NEED
Of a leader=a SHEPHERD
That BRINGS us back to God


THANK GOD for the SHEPHERD=
Thank God for our Shepherd=our God=
Our Jesus=who LEADS all the other SHEEP=
Comes and FINDS us INDIVIDUALLY=and
BRINGS us back to God


“I will RESCUE THEM
From every place=
WHERE they were scattered


When it was cloudy

WHERE do we go=when we ARE
In our dark days=and LOST
In the clouds


We go to the ONE we can

THANKING God for the SHEPHERD
Thanking The LORD for the one
We can TRUST=our Jesus


When we are LOST
When the threatening hours

They were together 46 years

Had only one other date
In her ENTIRE LIFE


They are UNITED=and for me=

My special someone


But I have a LOVE
For all mankind=trying to FOLOW
My brother and hero Jesus


Jesus had a LOVE that
NEVER DIED=I am trying to LIVE
In that same manner=

But a love that LIVES ON & ON=

Be UNITED with God

Do you ever have DOUBTS=

HOW can you doubt God when
You EXPERIENCE the NEWNESS and
LIGHT of the SUN? It is IMPOSSIBLE!

DON'T LISTEN to the doubts

As we approach THANKSGIVING
this year=we think about ALL
That we have to be THANKFUL for


But=there is also a lot
Of unexpected trouble in this world


WHAT do we say to someone
WHEN someone dies=when someone
LOSES someone in life?


All I know is that I am
THANKFUL for my life=and when
We CRY=GOD CRIES=
Jesus cries too


Their tears are OUR TEARS=
They care DEEPLY for us
And they LOVE US IMMENSELY


“As he drew near-
He saw the city-
And WEPT over it........” Luke 19:41


On this THANKSGIVING DAY=
I am GRATEFUL
For so MANY things


A tremendous FAMILY=62+ years of life=FRIENDS=
And the OPPORTUNITY to LIVE
Each day=starting ANEW=
In God's LOVE


However=I am most THANKFUL=
For an EVER-PRESENT God=
That is still there=IN
The midst of our suffering


A God that is ALWAYS PRESENT=
EVEN in the midst of our broken
And imperfect world


“For what you have done-

In the PRESENCE
Of your faithful people


And I will HOPE in
Your name-
For your name is GOOD” Psalm 52:9

It is said that the EIGHT
Wealthiest people in the world
Have MORE money than 50%
Of the world's population


Today we READ=about Zacchaeus=
A tax collector who CLIMBED
A sycamore-fig tree
To see Jesus


Jesus told Zacchaeus that he MUST stay
At his house today


Zacchaeus' RESPONSE=
“BEHOLD-half of my possessions-Lord
I shall GIVE to the poor


And if I have extorted anything
=From anyone
I shall REPAY it
Four times over” Luke 19:8


HELPING THE POOR


What if those 8=
Gave ½ of their billions
To HELP the poor


What a DIFFERENCE that
Would MAKE in world poverty


Better yet=what if EVERYONE of us
Could make a DONATION of just $10
To


HELPING the poor and poverty-stricken
In this world


“This poor man CALLED
And the Lord HEARD him


He saved him out
Of ALL his troubles” Psalm 34:6


“WHOEVER is KIND to the poor
Lends to the Lord


And he will REWARD them
For what they have done” Proverbs 19:7


“All they ASKED
Was that we should
Continue to REMEMBER


The poor=
The very thing
I had been EAGER
To do all along” Galatians 2:10


There are MANY other ways
That we CAN help the poor too


We can VOLUNTEER in
Our parishes/or churches
Or EVEN in our local communities


We can WORK with the
Legislature=to enact laws
That HELP the poor


And=of course=
We can PRAY-
For the poor=everyday


For GOD'S HELP for those
In NEED of food
And those-POOR IN SPIRIT


“BLESSED are the poor
In SPIRIT=for theirs is

A lot of people-
In this world=
THINK they are really something


But IN today's reading
From Luke (Luke 18:35-43)=we
Read just a few words
From a RIDICULED BEGGAR


“Jesus=Son of David=
Have pity on me” Luke 18:38


And EARLIER=in the same set
Of parables=we read about
A Pharisee and a tax collector


The Pharisee self-righteously thinks
About how DEVOUT he is and how he-
IS BETTER then everyone else


But the tax collector offers
THIS simple prayer:
“O GOD=be MERCIFUL to me=
A sinner” Luke 18:13


How HUMBLE is that


It is BETTER to try
To be HUMBLE=and PRAY
With humility


Than think of ourselves
Better than we are
For the LORD KNOWS-this world
Can and WILL knock us down
A peg or two


“You SAVE the humble
But bring low those
Whose eyes are haughty” Psalm 18:27


“Take my YOKE upon you
And learn from me-
For am gentle
And HUMBLE OF HEART


And you will find REST
For your souls” Matthew 11:29


“But he gives us
More grace


That is WHY Scripture says:
'God OPPOSES the proud-
And shows FAVOR to the HUMBLE'” James 4:6


TRY to be HUMBLE=
Pray in humility


Try saying this PRAYER-
As many OTHERS DO:
“Lord Jesus Christ-Son of GOD-
have MERCY on me-a sinner”


We can REPEAT this over and over
SEVERAL times throughout the day


Dear Lord=we PRAY=with humility
IN HEART=the way=Jesus always did


We pray with NO PRIDE=with
With no expectation=and in PURE HUMILITY=
The way the ridiculed beggar did
The way the tax collector did


The way Jesus himself did


Dear Lord=we are IMPERFECT=
We RECOGNIZE our deficiencies


Please LIFT us up
As we pray to you
In deep HUMILITY


“By the humility and GENTLENESS
Of Christ
I APPEAL to you=I Paul


Who am “TIMID”
When face to face with you


But “BOLD” toward you
When AWAY!” 2 Corinthians 10:1

We are called to HELP

Fear God and keep
His commandments

“I have FULFILED my duty

In all good CONSCIENCE

YES=no days off as Christians=
We are ALWAYS on duty
To worship and PRAISE GOD


And to STEP forward
And help others in their NEED


We should never be
Spiritually lazy=for we know DEEP
Down in our souls
That is NOT
What the Lord wants


Taking time off from
Our CHRISTIAN DUTY-
Slowly kills our souls


Dear Lord=thank you for
The NUDGE=when we want
To rest
When we want
To sleep


Help us to step FORWARD
To help those in need
As we PLEAD for your MERCY
And START ANEW


“Do not hold against us

May your MERCY
Come quickly
To meet us

AND FOLLOW YOU


“Whoever=

Is NOT worthy of me

For my sake

Dear Lord=it is you=

Jesus and his apostles were
BIG-TIME LOSERS


Jesus hung out with tax collectors
And prostitutes=was POOR=and was
REJECTED by those in power


He died a horrible death=was publicly ridiculed
And was sentenced to a
Long-tortuous death-as a criminal


“But first he MUST suffer greatly=
And be REJECTED=
By his generation” Luke 17:25


TODAY=Jesus is KNOWN as maybe=
The GREATEST PERSON of all time=
Not only a winner=BUT a GOD=the GOD


And his apostles=disciples=and Mary Magdalene
Are PART of the GREATEST STORY
Ever told


We too=are NO LONGER
Losers=but we are WINNERS=
Because we are ADOPTED CHILDREN
Of God


We are WINNERS in the NAME
Of CHRIST Jesus


“But WHEN the set time-
Had fully come=
God sent his SON


Born of a woman
Born under the law
To REDEEM those under the law


That we might RECEIVE-
ADOPTION to sonship


Because you are his sons
God sent the SPIRIT
Of his Son
Into our hearts


The Spirit who calls out

YES=we are NO LONGER losers=
But winners=
WINNERS in Christ


By BELIEVING in Jesus-we
Become=VICTORIOUS over the
Grave too


We all SUFFER at times
During this life
We all feel like “losers”
At times


But the KINGDOM of GOD
Is among us=and we
Are MEMBERS of it


Because of our ASSOCIATION with Christ
And his VICTORY=
OVER all things in life


Since we BELONG to Jesus-
And REMAIN in him
We are victorious too
WE ARE WINNERS


“May we SHOUT
For JOY=over your victory


And lift up the BANNERS
In the name of our God” Psalm 20:5


“For the Lord
Takes DELIGHT in his people


He crowns the HUMBLE
With VICTORY” Psalm 149:4

How about that
WE have been predestined and
CALLED to be like Jesus

God intends us
For IMMORTALITY=we were
BUILT FOREVER and
That is OUR DESTINY


“SURELY your goodness and LOVE

Jesus RESTORED our birthright=
His PERFECT LOVE restored us

But with GOD'S help=

For that SAME offense
Seven times? It takes a lot
Of PATIENCE to let go
Of that ANGER and be
COMPLETELY FORGIVING

WE should ALWAYS be FORGIVING=
IF for no other REASON=than forgiveness

With this same ATTITUDE of FORGIVENESS
At all times


EASIER said than done

To be like God

YES=be FULLY ALIVE to

SUFFERED in his body


ARM yourselves also
With the SAME ATTITUDE-
Because whoever suffers


In the body=
Is DONE with sin” 1 Peter 4:1


We are ASKED=to LOVE
As God loves=and FORGIVE=
As God forgives


It makes SENSE=the more
We become AWARE=
Of our ONENES with God


The MORE we live=
With ULTIMATE JOY like God does


So try to LET GO
Of your anger and hurt=
It is the ONLY CHOICE
That gives us PEACE


With GOD'S HELP=we can live

It is AVAILABLE=

WE shouldn't be so quick

That the ten virgins

They TOOK on too much RESPONSIBILITY


Maybe they were CARING for a
Sick mother=or maybe=
They had to do EXTRA housework


RESPONSIBILITY can be DRAINING-
And wear heavy-
On the SOUL=and burn out
Our lights


The LAMP of our spirits
CAN run out of light-
For ANY NUMBER of reasons


So KEEP your light lit=
LIGHT YOURSELF UP for God
=WHENEVER it is possible


“For you
Have DELIVERED me from death
And my feet
From stumbling


That I may WALK-
Before God=
IN the light of LIFE” Psalm 56:13


“LIGHT in a MESSENGER'S EYES=
Brings JOY to the heart


And good news-
Gives health
To the bones” Proverbs 15:30


“For you were ONCE DARKNESS-
But now-you-
Are LIGHT in the LORD


Live as CHILDREN
Of the LIGHT=


For the FRUIT of the LIGHT-
CONSISTS in all goodness=

SERVING THE LORD!


We all have NEEDS in
This world=but at the END
Of the day=
We ONLY have ONE MASTER


And for me=that MASTER=
Is God and Jesus=FOLLOWED closely
By FAMILY=
WHOM are you going to
SERVE in this world?


“NO servant can serve
TWO masters=he will either
Hate one=and LOVE the other


Or be-
DEVOTED to one
And despise the other


You CANNOT SERVE
God and mammon” Luke 16:13


“Mammon” REFERS to
Wealth and riches


And-BOTH- to some degree
Are NECESSARY-
For all of us


We NEED food-clothing-and shelter=
But we should NOT put ANY of this
Above God and family


Jesus UNDERSTANDS this-and-
Accepts this=as long as
We do NOT PUT anything
ABOVE serving of our God and FAMILY


“But as for ME-
And my HOUSEHOLD-
We will SERVE THE LORD” Joshua 24:15


“IF we are thrown
Into the blazing furnace


The God we SERVE-
Is ABLE to deliver us-
And he WILL deliver us
From Your Majesty's hand


But EVEN if he does not
We want you to KNOW-
Your Majesty=
That we will NOT serve
Your gods=or worship


The IMAGE of gold
You have set up” Daniel 3:17-18


“For the LOVE OF MONEY=
Is a ROOT of-
ALL KINDS of evil


Some people-EAGER for money
Have WANDERED from the FAITH
And pierced themselves-
With many griefs” 1 Timothy 6:10


Jesus UNDERSTANDS that we
Have PHYSICAL needs


For that reason=ONE of his
GREATEST MIRACLES=was feeding 5,000
With a FEW loaves of bread-
And a couple of fish


And for that REASON=
Jesus CHANGED water into wine
And allowed the CELEBRATION
To CONTINUE at Cana


But throughout his ministry=
Jesus SERVED only ONE master


And we should do the SAME=
SERVE the Lord first!=
And our FAMILY second


We need to ASK ourselves=
WHO are we SERVING our
Lives FOR TODAY?


What is the FOCUS of the CHOICES
We are MAKING for our lives?


Dear LORD=we PRAY=that we USE=
All of our RESOURCES for SERVING
YOU TODAY!


We HUNGER for and SERVE YOU LORD!

UNFOLDING PLAN for eternal happiness
And GOODNESS in this world?


FULL OF GOODNESS?


“For the Lord GOD is a SUN

The Lord bestows
FAVOR and Honor

“A good name-
Is more DESIRABLE-than great riches


To be ESTEEMED

SOME of=many of our
Brothers and sisters=
Are FULL OF GOODNESS
In the Lord


“For we are GOD'S HANDIWORK
CREATED in Christ Jesus
To do GOOD WORKS


Which God PREPARED=in advance=
For us to do” Ephesians 2:10


“LIVE such GOOD LIVES-
Among the pagans
That though they ACCUSE YOU
Of doing wrong


That they may SEE
Your GOOD DEEDS
And GLORIFY GOD=on the day
That he visits us” 1 Peter 2:12


Be AWARE that others
Are FULL OF GOODNESS too


And though their perspectives
May DIIFER from ours
That they are GOOD PEOPLE too


They are just seeing
The world DIFFERENTLY


Can we admit to OURSELVES
That sometimes others have an INSIGHT
That I/WE do not see?


Sometimes people's MOTIVES are different
Than ours=But they are
FULL OF GOODNESS too


They too are GENUINE and JUSTIFIED
Just as we-OURSELVES=ARE


LIVING & LOOKING for ONE UNIFIED WORLD

PERSEVERANCE=ARE YOU IN IT
FOR THE LONG HAUL?


Have you ever PYSICALLY BUILT
Anything in your life? I WISH that I
COULD say that I have=but I am NOT an
Architect=and have NO ABILITY that way


But it takes a LOT OF PERESEVERANCE=and
It TAKES a lot of PERSEVERANCE=to
BUILD a life=you have to SEE the end=
The ABILITY to see the WHOLE PICTURE
From the very BEGINNING


PERSEVERANCE=you have to BE
IN IT for the long haul


“Which of you-
Wishing to CONSTRUCT a tower
Does not FIRST sit down


And CALCULATE the cost=
To see if their-is enough
FOR ITS COMPLETION?” Luke 14:28


I can ONLY IMAGINE how much
TIME-energy=and SKILL it takes
To BUILD something from the
Beginning-because-I can't honestly
Do it


But I am BUILDING A LIFE=and=
I am WORKING HARD at it=and I
Am putting a lot of TRUTH=LOVE=
And SINCERITY into it


PERSEVERANCE=COMPLETING the task=
Building something=even BETTER=building a life
TO COMPLETION


“For the LORD-your God-
Will BLESS you-
In all your HARVEST


And in ALL the work
Of your hands
And your JOY=WILL BE COMPLETE” Deuteronomy16:15


“However=I consider-
My will worth NOTHING
To me


My only AIM
Is to FINISH the race
And COMPLETE the task


The Lord JESUS has given me--------
The task of TESTIFYING
To the good news
Of GOD'S GRACE” Acts 20:24


It takes a lot of PERSEVERANCE-
To BUILD a good life


It takes a LOT of perseverance
To COMPLETE a life MARATHON


PERSEVERE my friends=are you in it
For the LONG HAUL?


We NEED to honestly
Assess our STAYING POWER-
NOT simple in building something
Like an ARCHITECT


But in BUILDING A LIFE=
Day-by-day


“CONSIDER it pure JOY
My brothers and sisters
WHENEVER you FACE trials-
Of many kinds


Because you KNOW
That the TESTING of your FAITH-
PRODUCES PERSEVERANCE


Let perseverance FINISH its work-
So that you may be
Mature and COMPLETE=
NOT LACKING ANYTHING” James 1:2-4


PERSEVERE my dear friends=
And you will TRIUMPH=in the WORK
OF YOUR LIFE

FINDING JOY IN SUFFERING

FINDING JOY IN SUFFERING


I don't know anyone
Who likes to SUFFER


I certainly don't-
Do you?


BUT Jesus found JOY
in suffering
Because he was offering
HIS LIFE up for others-
FOR US


And I think that
That is the ONLY WAY-
We can find JOY in it=
Is offering up ourselves-
OUR sufferings for others


Saint Paul wrote:
“Brothers and sister:
NOW I rejoice
In my suffering
For your sake


And in my flesh
I am filling up
What is lacking


In the afflictions of Christ
On behalf
Of his body-
Which is the CHURCH
….....” Colossians 1:24


FIND joy in suffering
OFFER it up for God
Offer it up for others
And a UNIFIED CHURCH in Christ Jesus


The world tells us
Our goal in life
Should be happiness


And we find that happiness
In money and materialism-
In sex-and in having a perfect body


NOTHING could be
Further from the truth
For All these kinds of happiness
Are fleeting


We can only find true happiness-
TRUE JOY=in FINDING GOD
In finding Jesus


Nowhere else


“You make known to me
The PATH OF LIFE


You fill me with JOY
In your presence


With eternal pleasures
At your right hand” Psalm 16:11


“The prospect
Of the righteous is JOY


But the HOPES of the wicked
Come to nothing” Proverbs 10:28


A few hundred years later
Saint Francis of Assisi
Came along


He spoke to
His companion=Brother Leo


“PERFECT JOY-is-upon
REACHING their destination-


IS to be rejected-called names-beaten
and tossed aside


And to bear it all
And be JOINED
With the sufferings of Christ”


That would be PERFECT JOY
For Saint Francis


A bit extreme
To say the least


BUT we should ALWAYS
Offer up our sufferings to God
For the sake of others


I have always done so=SINCE
Being besieged by intense
Chronic pain since the age of 22


“NOW if we are children-
Then we are heirs-
Heirs of God
And co-heirs of Christ


IF indeed
We share in his sufferings
In order


That we may also
SHARE in his glory” Romans 8:17


UNITE your sufferings
With God and Jesus
For the sake of OTHERS


There is NO other way
TO FIND JOY IN SUFFERING

WILL YOU BE PRESENT AT
THE BANQUET OF THE LORD?


At the END of time=
Jesus is GOING to SEND INVITATIONS
To attend HIS BANQUET


But what are you SAYING NOW?
Are you PREPARING to ATTEND?


“WHEN the time for the
Dinner came=he DISPATCHED his servants
To say to the INVITED:


'COME=everything is now ready'


BUT one by one=they ALL=
BEGAN to excuse themselves” Luke 14:17-18


Those who REFUSED=were NOT EVIL=
They had good reasons=just had things=
MORE INPORTANT than the Lord


They had livestock=that needed tending=
They had OTHER INVITATIONS=
Their life was just too BUSY


How about you?
Are you TOO BUSY for the Lord?


MAKE ROOM for the Lord=don't be
Too busy for the LORD'S BANQUET=
Make TIME=be there=BE PRESENT


“Because of my INTEGRITY=
You uphold me


And set me
In YOUR PRESENCE=forever” Psalm 41:12


“HOW can we THANK GOD=enough=
For you in return


For all the JOY we have
In the PRESENCE of our God
Because of you?” 1 Thessalonians 3:9


It doesn't matter how much
We ACCOMPLISH in life


It matters how much TIME
We HAVE for the LORD=
And how much LOVE we have=in RETURN


BOTH for God
And our NEIGHBORS


Human love is IMPERFECT
And MOST of us=don't come
By it NATURALLY


We need to CHOOSE=
To LOVE OUR GOD=the way
That he loves us=and CHOOSE
To LOVE our neighbors


Say YES to God=Say “YES” to
The invitation=
Spend TIME with our Lord and
Your neighbors=and by all means
LOVE THEM!


“There is a TIME
For everything-
And a SEASON=
For every activity
UNDER the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1


“SOW righteousness for yourselves
REAP the fruit
Of UNFAILING LOVE


And break up
Your unplowed ground


For it is TIME
To SEEK the LORD


Until he comes
And showers his RIGHTEOUSNESS on you” Hosea 10:12


It is TIME=to SAY YES
To the Lord


It is time to say to MASS
Or to church service


And PREPARE for an eternity
With the LORD=our God


LOVE is a GIFT from God for all
Of eternity=Will you be PRESENT=
At the BANQUET of the Lord?

Our Pope FRANCIS=sets the TONE=
He walks the streets=he RIDES
The buses=and he EVEN washes
Inmates' feet in prison


He REMINDS us of his namesake=the
“POOR MAN of Assisi”=Saint Francis=
Who LOVED the poor=like his own self=
Saint Francis of Assisi is widely received to be
The man MOST LIKE Christ=who ever
WALKED this earth


SEE the FACE of Christ in them=
SEEING the face of Christ
In the POOR


“Many Lord=are asking=
'Who will BRING us PROSPERITY?'


Let the LIGHT of your face
SHINE on us” Psalm 4:6


“For God-who said=
'Let LIGHT-
SHINE out of darkness'


Made his light
Shine in our HEARTS


To GIVE us the LIGHT
Of the knowledge of GOD'S GLORY-
Displayed in

SEEING the FACE of Christ
In the poor


We can't help the POOR
IF we are feeling PITY
For them


We must RESPECT them as PEOPLE
As human beings=CARRYING the IMAGE
Of the FACE of Christ


For WHEN we SEE the
FACE OF CHRIST in the poor-
And ACKNOWLEDGE our own lowliness


Then the food becomes-
The LIVING BREAD of God
The living bread of CHRIST


In fact=NOURISHING us all


“YOUR PEOPLE settled in it
And from your bounty=GOD=


You PROVIDED
For the poor” Psalm 68:10


“BETTER the poor-
Whose WALK is blameless


Than a fool-

FACES a multitude of DECISIONS-
Everyday


Millions and millions
In a lifetime


MOST of us are JUST
TRYING to do the RIGHT THING
For ourselves and our families


“O Lord=my HEART is NOT PROUD
Nor are my eyes haughty” Psalm 131:1


I am SURROUNDED by people
Making decisions=just TRYING
To do the RIGHT THING


Decisions=decisions=sometimes we
Make the RIGHT ones=and sometimes
The wrong ONES


“EACH of you should GIVE
What you have DECIDED
In your heart to give


NOT reluctantly or under compulsion
For GOD loves-
A CHEERFUL GIVER” 2 Corinthians 9:7


“MULTITUDES-multitudes-
In the VALLEY of decision


For the DAY of the Lord-
Is NEAR-
In the valley of DECISION!” Joel 3:14


Dear Lord=WE are just TRYING
To GET our things RIGHT=trying
To DO what is BEST
For us in this world


NO HARM INTENDED to anyone
Or anything else


But SOMETIMES we make
The right decisions
And sometimes we get it WRONG


DEAR LORD=help us to CORRECT
Our MISTAKES=
And TRY to do better
The next time


And PLEASE BEAR with us Lord
For our own LIMITATIONS=
And our own MISSED CALLS


WE are JUST trying to do
THE RIGHT THING!


Dear Lord=HELP US always
To choose PATIENCE over pride=
NOT always so easy to do

EXALTING THE HUMBLE=
EVERY DAY PEOPLE


There are many HUMBLE people
In this world=EVERY DAY PEOPLE


People who work as clerks-
Custodians-laborers=who go to
WORK everyday=and who LIVE their lives
With GRACE


They don't ask for anything special=
But these “every day” PEOPLE=HUMBLY living
ARE the people=Jesus=
WANTS to exalt


“.........But the ONE who humbles himself
WILL be EXALTED” Luke 14:11


I KNOW many “every day” people
As I am SURE you do too=
For WE are part of them


We are the meat of SOCIETY=
We need janitors-we need custodians=
For we all WORK TOGETHER
To make this world work


We are the HUMBLE=
We ARE the every day=people
We are SPECIAL=but then we are
ALL SPECIAL under=and IN God's kingdom
AREN'T WE?


“The Lord
Is in his holy temple


The Lord is-
On his heavenly throne


He OBSERVES everyone on earth
His eyes-examine them” Psalm 11:4


“For EVERYONE
Belongs to me
The parent-as well as the child-


BOTH alike=belong to me
The one who sins
Is the ONE-
Who will die” Ezekiel 18:4


“By this-EVERYONE will know-
That you are MY DISCIPLES


IF you LOVE ONE ANOTHER” John 13:35


YES!=we all BELONG to God=
Especially these EVERY DAY=HUMBLE
Hard-working people


I think the TRULY humble person=
The HUMBLE person
Have that self-esteem
That does NOT require accolades


Yes-JESUS-will EXALT the HUMBLE
For their contributions=for we are ALL
Very SPECIAL in the eyes
Of the Lord


ESPECIALLY those HUMBLE-
Those hard-working people


“If you SHOW
SPECIAL attention to the man
Wearing fine CLOTHES and say


'Here's a good seat for you'
BUT say to the poor man
'You stand there' or
'SIT on the floor
By my feet'


Have you not discriminated
AMONG yourselves=and become JUDGES
With evil thoughts?” James 2:3-4


Yes=the LORD LOVES=every-day=hard-working
HUMBLE people-and
He will EXALT THEM


But he BRINGS down the braggarts=
Who will ONE WAY or another
FIND themselves humbled

And often times=LIFE deals you
A set of UNFAIR CIRCUMSTANCES
That you did not earn or DESERVE

STILL be grateful and GRACIOUS
In all circumstances

SPEAKING of the HUMBLE
Today=we CELEBRATE Saint Martin
De Porres


He was born in Lima, Peru-
And JOINED the THIRD ORDER
Of Dominicans


He REQUESTED simple tasks
To do:


Working in the laundry room
HELPING on the farm
And NURSING sick friars


He believed in small things-
DONE in great love and in the
POWER OF PRAYER


We can all LEARN from him


Despite discrimination due to his race-
And subsequent abandonment by his father-
Society-and members of HIS OWN
Religious community


He CHOSE to forgive over and over
He chose to be HUMBLE


He REMAINED GRACIOUS no matter
How he was treated=he had NO ROOM
For bitterness in his life


“.........But the one who HUMBLES himself
Will be EXALTED” Luke 14:11


When Saint Martin de PORRES died
In 1639=the ENTIRE city of Lima
EXALTED this humble man


So when life TREATS us UNFAIRLY=let
Us remember the EXAMPLE of Saint Martin de PORRES
And respond in a HUMBLE-life-forgiving=life-sustaining ways
