How do you
Lose a friend
Never take their phone calls
Never return their phone calls
Never answer their letters or e-mails
Never send them
A birthday card
Never acknowledge their presence
In any way
It is
The same way with God
Never say
Good morning God
Never say
Thank you for this wonderful life
That you have you given me
Become
So enthralled
With the people
And gifts of your life
That you fail
To acknowledge the giver
Dear Lord
We pray to you
To help us always acknowledge
That your love for us
Is the great reality
Of our lives
Help us
To always acknowledge
That our connection to you
Is what drives us
Is what
Makes us who we are
Help us
To always know
That we can share
Everything with you
Even that deepest darkest most shameful part
That we want no one else to see
ONLY YOU
And so Lord
We pray
That we may
Never lose any of our friends
By failing to acknowledge their existence
But most of all
We pray
That we may never lose you
Because your love for us
Is the great reality
