JOURNAL=4-25-15=PRIDE AND HUMILITY “CLOTHE yourself with HUMILITY in your dealings with one another.....” 1 Peter 5:5 Peter REMINDS us to be HUMBLE-for the Lord himself was humble-HE tells us and TRIES to teach us to treat one another WITH KINDNESS AND COMPASSION-for as TRUE CHRISTIANS that is what we called upon to do Peter also REMINDS US that we will ALL be tempted-and that we will all sin-at one time or another-so we should NOT approach our brothers and sisters with PRIDE WE are to take our WORRIES to God-and KNOW that our FELLOW BELIEVERS are undergoing sufferings also TREAT one another with humility-NOT PRIDE Dear Lord-WE PRAY-that we TREAT all CHRISTIANS and ALL people with a SPIRIT OF COMPASSION-and MERCY-but never judgment it is A GREAT DAY to be ALIVE in GOD'S LOVE for us-and a great day for living in HUMILITY AND LOVE PRIDE AND HUMILITY We are ALL proud Of ourselves in life At one time Or another PROUD of who we are PROUD of What we have accomplished Or maybe just proud Of someone else in our family God tells us WE are NOT to be proud “To fear the Lord Is to hate evil I hate pride and arrogance EVIL behavior and perverse speech” Proverbs 8:13 I don’t think There is anything wrong About feeling GOOD about ourselves Feeling good About something that we have accomplished But I think There is an inherent danger In this In ALLOWING ourselves to think We have become BETTER than The man or woman Standing or sitting Right beside us “The eyes of the arrogant man Will be humbled And the pride of men Brought low The Lord ALONE Will be exalted in that day” Isaiah 2:11 God wants us to know That we could accomplish nothing Without him And that we are ALWAYS dependent on him And other people In this world God wants us to know That all of us Are DEPENDENT on him and others In fact IF God ceased to love us For just one second We would cease to live OUR very next breath Is dependent on him And he wants us To be more like Jesus The MOST HUMBLE man or woman To ever walk this earth “DO NOTHING out of selfish ambition Or vain conceit BUT IN HUMILITY Consider others Better than yourself Each of you Should look NOT ONLY to your own interest But also To the interests of others Your attitude Should be the same As that of Jesus Christ” Philippians 2:3-5 Jesus is our ROLE model FOR HUMILITY And God has lifted His name up Above every other We ALL live in a world Of self-promotion But God says FOLLOW the example of Christ Jesus And-IF-it is meant to be so LET HIM-LIFT YOU UP Robert P.
