HUNGERING FOR GOD


TWO of the things
We all have in COMMON
In this world


Is that
We all HUNGER FOR GOD
And we all have a hunger
For food in our lives


Today is HOLY THURSDAY---
Jesus' LAST MEAL on this earth
And CHRISTIANS around the world
COMMEMORATE the last PASSOVER
Meal Jesus SHARED with his friends


HUNGERING FOR GOD=for his Father=
More than food=Jesus was


“If a family
Is too SMALL for a whole lamb


It shall JOIN the nearest household
In procuring one
And shall SHARE in the lamb


In proportion
To the number of persons
Who partake of it” Exodus 12:4


HUNGERING FOR GOD!


We ALL like to partake
Of a meal
With our family and friends
And Jesus was NO DIFFERENT


As he came to
HUNGER for God and through God
With his ETERNAL COVENANT


“WHILE they were eating
Jesus took bread
And WHEN-
He had given thanks


He broke it and GAVE it
To his disciples
Saying:
'TAKE and eat-
This is my body'” Matthew 26:26


“Then he took a cup
And WHEN he had given thanks
He broke it and gave it to them-
Saying:
'DRINK form it-ALL of you


THIS is my blood of the COVENANT
Which is poured out for many-
For the FORGIVENESS OF SINS'” Matthew 26:27-28


Jesus was about
READY-to go to his Father-GOD


He was HUNGERING FOR GOD


And we the disciples
Who came AFTER Jesus
HUNGER for God the Father too


And we SHARE many meals
With our family and friends


As Jesus did-
At the LAST SUPPER


HUNGERING FOR GOD


“People do not despise
A thief=if he steals


To SATISFY his hunger
When he is starving” Proverbs 6:30


“BLESSED are those who hunger
And thirst for righteousness


For they will be FILLED” Matthew 5:6


That is
What Jesus was
That is
WHO we can be


“NEVER again will they hunger
Never again
Will they thirst


The sun
Will NOT beat down on them
Nor any scorching heat” Revelation 7:16


At the HEART of JEWISH
And Christian worship-
IS the desire to SHARE a meal


A meal in which the SHARING
Creates a community


And from that very community stems
THE HUNGER FOR GOD-and-
THE HUNGER for Jesus


Which can ONLY be satisfied
BY GOD'S OWN SELF
