THE POWER OF THE PARABLE
Do you know what
A PARABLE is?
A parable is a SIMPLE STORY
To illustrate a MORAL or SPRITUAL LESSON
As told by Jesus in the gospels
And Jesus uses it
OVER and over again to TEACH
His apostles=to teach his disciples=
And to still teach US TODAY
“He spoke to them ANOTHER PARABLE=
'The KINGDOM of God is like yeast.........'” Matthew 13:33
The parables Jesus USES today
Are in Matthew 13:31-35
WHERE he tells us about a
MUSTARD SEED and where he tells
Us about yeast
“The kingdom of heaven
IS like a mustard seed
Which a man took
And planted in his field” Matthew 13:31
“The kingdom of heaven
Is like YEAST
That a woman took
And MIXED into
About 60 pounds of flour
UNTIL it worked all
Through the dough” Matthew 13:33

The DEEPER meaning of
What Jesus wants to TEACH US
WE are the mustard seed and
We ALL are the yeast
In these stories
And they HELP us to UNDERSTAND
The reign of GOD=and we help
EACH other=by SHARING our own
LIFE stories with one another
All of this information
About parables
ALLOWS us to ask TWO questions:
- WHY are we the MUSTARD SEE?
“Though it (the mustard seed)
Is the SMALLEST of the seeds
When it GROWS=
It is the LARGEST
Of garden plants
And becomes a tree
So that the birds
COME and PERCH in its branches” Matthew 16:32
We ARE the MUSTARD SEED
And we will GROW
Into a GREAT FOLLOWER of Christ
- And WHY did Jesus
“Jesus spoke ALL these things
To the CROWD in PARABLES;he
Did NOT say anything
To them
WITHOUT using a parable
So was FULFILLED
What was spoken
Through the prophet:
'I will OPEN my mouth
In PARABLES
I will utter HIDDEN THINGS
Since the
CREATION of the world'” Matthew 13:34-35
And so we HAVE
THE POWER OF JESUS' PARABLES
In the name of Jesus and that
Of HIS DIVINE FATHER
