When I didn’t know what to do

When I didn’t have a clue

Yes I found myself in you

 

I found myself in love

I found myself in forgiveness

I found myself

Everywhere that there was kindness

 

I found myself

In the heart of a child

I found myself in the smile of a friend

I saw myself in the stranger walking by

For God’s sake

We don’t even know

Where they might have been

 

When I didn’t know what to do

When I didn’t have a clue

Yes

I found myself in you

 

I found myself

In the homeless person on the street

I found myself in the aging of a parent

Everywhere that I looked

I found myself

Because when I saw you

I found me too

 

I saw myself

In the so--called “losers” of the world

I found myself in you

 

You have to remember

There for the grace of God go I

I found myself in you

 

So when I didn’t know what to do

In every other human being
