BE OF HUMBLE SERVICE


What is the KEY to life?
What is the key to GREATNESS?


What if I told you it
Was HUMILITY? That it is SIMPLE TRUTH?
That is of BEING OF HUMBLE SERVICE
And doing simple acts of KINDNESS
For others-
BEING THE LEAST


“Rather-whoever wishes to be GREAT
Among you
Shall be your SERVANT” Matthew 20:26


That is where the GOSPEL
Takes up today-Mrs. Zebedee wants
Her sons to be great-but
She doesn't get the point of
Jesus' life-as no one else does either


Mrs. Zebedee ASKS a favor of Jesus-
For her sons


“She says='Grant that
ONE of these two sons
of mine-
MAY sit at your right


And the other at your left
In your kingdom'” Matthew 20:21


Jesus says a few things-and-
Then goes on-
“........INSTEAD-whoever
WANTS to be great
Among you-
MUST be your servant


And whoever wants
To be first
Must be your slave-


Just as the SON OF MAN
Did not come
To be served
But to SERVE


And give his life
As a RANSOM for many” Matthew 20:26-28


So do you STILL want to be great?
Then
BE of HUMBLE SERVICE


Be a servant-and SERVE
For all-be the LEAST


Somehow-being great=doesn't seem
So GLAMOROUS-does it?


So this LENT
Do something out of SERVICE
For others


Open doors for others
VISIT the sick and confined
CLEAN UP after a party
Volunteer for an UNPLEASANT task


There are COUNTLESS things
That we can DO for others


BE OF SERVICE for others
MAKE another person feel good


“He GUIDES the humble
In what is right
And teaches them
The way” Psalm 25:9


“TAKE my yoke upon you
And learn from me


For I am simple
And HUMBLE OF HEART
And you will find REST
For your souls


For my YOKE is easy
And my burden light” Matthew 11:29-30


Dear Lord=HELP us to IMITATE YOU
And be HUMBLE OF HEART
And of SERVICE TO ALL


Help us to UNDERSTAND
That ONLY by being the least
That we CAN truly become great
