OUR FATHER DOES INDEED KNOW BEST Years ago-in the 1950's There was a radio show Called-”FATHER KNOWS BEST” Later it became a television show Under the same name With a stellar cast including- Robert Young and Elinor Donahue It was about a sensible father TRYING to help his three children Navigate life's problems More often than not His advice was right on Isn't it the same TRUE for us As we-the children of God Try to navigate our problems Our God-our Father's advice Is usually right on-as we Pick up the answers To our life's problems in SCRIPTURE- In church on Sunday- Or in our daily prayers With God and Jesus “Then James and John-the sons Of Zebedee-came to Jesus And said to him- 'Teacher-we want you to do for us WHATEVER we ask of you'” Mark 10:35 Oh boy- How much we are like The old disciples Or they are like us Things are ALWAYS alright With us and God As long as he is GIVING us whatever we want We want what we want And that's the end of it And if we don't Get what we want We whine-we whimper- And we complain But God-OUR LOVING FATHER- And his Son DEFINITELY know what is BEST For us We find it HARD to accept That our God and Jesus KNOW more about what is good For us-than we do “TRUST in the Lord- And do good Dwell in the land And enjoy safe pasture” Psalm 37:3 “Desire without knowledge Is not good- How many more Will hasty feet miss the way” Proverbs 19:2 Father-our Father- Does indeed know what is BEST For us LISTER for his advice Listen for his answers “The way of fools SEEM right to them But the wise listen to advice” Proverbs 12:15 LISTEN to advice Through your God-though your priest or pastor And advice given to you by God - Through prayer and SCRIPTURE “Listen to advice And accept discipline And at the end You will be counted Among the wise” Proverbs 19:29 Dear Lord-we your children FACE many obstacles in this world HELP us to always listen For your answers For you-OUR FATHER-OUR LORD- DO KNOW WHAT IS BEST For us Robert P.
