THE KEY THAT OPENS THE DOOR

It is EASY for

A person

To become RELIGIOUSLY SMUG

If we go to church-

If we donate to the poor=

And AVOID big sins

Like adultery and stealing=

We can become pretty CONFIDENT

That we WILL

ENTER the kingdom of GOD

“Remember your MERCIES=O Lord” Psalm 25:6

That was the EXACT MISTAKE=

The chief priests and elders

MADE in the time of Jesus

They were self-righteous=

They thought they

Were BETTER than everyone else

They AVOIDED someone like

PROSTITUES and tax collectors=

But Jesus SHOCKS everyone

By telling them

That=these DESPISED ONES=

Were the ones

Getting into the KINGDOM OF GOD

The KEY that opens

The door is MERCY=

The prostitutes and tax collectors

KNEW they were sinners

And they looked to God

FOR MERCY=but we

Are ALL SINNERS=

And we should ALL

Be looking to God FOR MERCY

And we should all

Be giving each other MERCY=

And then we can ASK

God and JESUS for mercy too

“Remember Lord=

Your great MERCY and love

For they are from of old” Psalm 25:6

“Lord I have heard

Of your fame=

I stand in awe

Of your deeds Lord=

Repeat them in our day

In our time-make them known

In wrath=REMEMBER MERCY” Habakkuk 3:2

“Woe to you

Teachers of the law

And Pharisees=You hypocrites!

You give

A tenth of your spices--------

Mint-dill-cumin

But you have

Neglected the more important

Matters of the law--------

Justice-MERCY-and faithfulness” Matthew 23:23

And woe to us=if we

Are NOT SINCERE

In our MERCY=toward others

The KEY that

OPENS THE DOOR to find the

Kingdom of God

Is living with MERCY

Toward others

Then we can ASK

For MERCY from God

For our very own selves

“I will give you

THE KEYS=of the kingdom of heaven

Whatever you bind

On earth=will be bound

In heaven=and whatever you loose-

On earth

Will be loosed in heaven” Matthew 16:19

Dear Jesus=you are

The KING OF MERCY=

Forgive us our sins

And SHOWER your merciful love

Upon us and others

As we SEEK to live

And treat others

WITH MERCY

For we know=LIVING WITH MERCY

Is the KEY=

If we seek to reach

The KINGDOM of heaven

In the name of Jesus=and our ever MERCIFUL FATHER
