WHEN JESUS SPEAKS=PEOPLE LISTEN Years ago There was a commercial That went: “When EF HUTTON speaks- People listen” And it showed a crowd Going drop dead quiet As a golfer begins To hit his golf ball Into the hole I can ONLY IMAGINE That this is the way It was-some 2,000 year ago WHEN people gathered in temples- On hillsides-and in quiet upper rooms To hear Jesus speak “........But they could Find no way To accomplish their purpose Because ALL the people Were hanging on his words” Luke 15:48 Yes=Jesus' words THOSE APPEALING WORDS The words of life When “important” people speak The world listens Who was ever More important than Jesus? Press conferences are called And we tune in To listen to the politician- The over paid athlete- And the glamorous movie star But whoever spoke More appealing words than Jesus “As for everyone Who comes to me And hears my words And puts them Into practice I will show you What they are like They are like a man BUILDING a house Who dug down deep And laid the foundation On rock” Luke 6:47-48 And that is what We have to do Is BUILD OUR LIVES On the foundation of Jesus' words And live by that example So people will see Jesus In us=IN OUR LIVES “If you REMAIN in me And my words remain in you Ask whatever you wish And it will be done For you” John 15:7 When Jesus speaks= PEOPLE LISTEN= We listen And his words STICK with us for a lifetime Jesus spoke with authority With truth And without fanfare In his authority And in his LOVE The people heard Something different and true As we today STILL hear something true and different We hear his words We RESPOND to his words And his words will live FOREVER and ever “Heaven and earth Will pass away but my words Will NEVER pass away” Matthew 24:35 Dear Lord= May your words FILL OUR LIVES For when you speak PEOPLE LISTEN Robert P.
