PLAIN AND ORDINARY YOU?


He wouldn't love you

If you ACHIEVE outstanding things
And he doesn't love you
Any less=


If you accomplish nothing
With your life
He loves you
For WHO YOU ARE


He loves you
THE PLAIN AND ORDINARY YOU


“A prophet is NOT
Without honor=except


In his native place
And his own house” Matthew 13:57


Sometimes we hear
About the politicians
Who often are NOT POPULAR
In their own states
But are popular NATIONALLY


It is COMMON WISDOM
And Jesus presents it
As such


A prophet is
NOT HONORED=in
His own home town


But they=his town
RECOGNIZED his wisdom


“Coming to his hometown
He began
Teaching the people
In their synagogues
And they were amazed


'WHERE did this man
Get this WISDOM
And these miraculous powers?'
They asked” Matthew 13:54


But they didn't want
To accept Jesus as
THE MESSIAH


Maybe because of the familiarity
Maybe because they KNEW
His parents


They were looking
For a high priest
They were looking for
A military leader


They didn't want to
ACCEPT the PLAIN AND ORDINARY Jesus
They thought=he was
Just a guy from Nazareth


But we are SPECIAL
To Jesus=us PLAIN
AND ORDINARY FOLKS
Like you and me


“........since what
May be known
About God=is PLAIN to them


Because God has
Made it known to them” Romans 1:19


“When they saw
The courage
Of Peter and John


And realized
That they were unschooled
ORDINARY MEN


They were astonished
And they took note
That these men
Had been with JESUS” Acts 4:13


And us=PLAIN ordinary people
Are the 21^st century apostles
OF JESUS


His SPECIAL ORDINARY men and women
Of today


Dear Lord=please give us the
FAITH and the VISION
To see you
In EACH and every one of us
The MEN AND WOMEN of today


In the name of Jesus=and his ALWAYS LOVING FATHER

ARE YOU A FRIEND OF GOD










Are you a friend of God


Before you answer
Let me tell you what James, the Apostle,
And half-brother of Jesus once wrote,


“You adulterous people
Don’t you know that friendship
Towards the world
Is hatred towards God


Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world
Becomes an enemy of God” James 4:4


So
What does it mean to be a friend of the world
As opposed to God


I believe
It is simply
Putting the love of money and materialism
Over the love of God
And the love of your neighbor


Or putting our own selfish desires
Of the flesh
At the expense of God and family


Or calling ALL miracles----“medical” or scientific miracles


Or putting our own selfish addictions
Over the love of God and family


Let’s be clear
Being a friend to God
Isn’t the absence of money
The absence of our sexuality
Or the absence of medical miracles
In our lives


To be a friend to God
Just means to keep our priorities
In their proper place
ALWAYS keeping God and family
ABOVE everything else


Proverbs 17: 17 tells us,
“A friend loves at all times
And a brother is born in adversity”


So we know
That God LOVES US at all times
Even when we have turned our back on him


He is just waiting for you
Waiting for me
To ask for another chance


We KNOW
That we will get another chance
If we just SINCERELY ask


Matthew 7:7-8 says,


“Ask
And it will be given to you
Seek and you will find
Knock and the door will be opened to you


For everyone who asks---receives
He who seeks---finds
And to him who knocks
The door will be opened”


And when we get our second chance
We are to follow the commandments
And LIVE by God’s own spirit


“The fruit of the spirit is love,
Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gentleness, and self-control


Against such things---there is no law” Galatians 5:22-23


My friends
God is our BEST FRIEND
We just have to:


Keep our priorities straight
Follow his commandments
And do our best to live
With the qualities of GOD’S OWN SPIRIT


God is
NOT looking for perfection
Just our best effort


IF we give it
Count yourself


AS A FRIEND OF GOD

The SOCIAL MEDIA culture
Breads the FOMO syndicate


Otherwise known
As FEAR OF MISSING OUT
But we never have
To worry about
What we are missing


Because WHEREVER you are=
That is where GOD IS=
God is
RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE


“I had rather
One day in the COURTS


Than a thousand elsewhere” Psalm 84:11


God walks right BESIDE us
He lives with us
He is with us
EVERY SINGLE MOMENT
Of our day


There is something
TIMELESS about God
He existed long
BEFORE we ever lived


He exists right now


And he will exist LONG
After we have gone


And while we are alive
He is RIGHT
WHERE we are=he
Walks with us
Every step of the way


He is=our God is
TIMELESS AND INFINITE
He is everlasting


“Before the mountains
Were born
Or you brought forth


The whole world
From EVERLASTING to EVERLASTING
You are God” Psalm 90:2


“Do you not know?
Have you not heard?


The Lord is the EVERLASTING GOD
The CREATOR
Of the ends of the earth


He will not
Grow tired or weary
And his understanding

And RIGHT WHERE you are
Is exactly where
We are supposed to be


Our God is PRESENT
And that is where
We are supposed to be


Being in the “COURTS”
Is the perfect place
The perfect timing
For our lives


Everything in our lives
Is UNFOLDING=exactly
The way that
They are supposed to


NO MATTER how or
What the circumstances
Look to you


“The UNFOLDING of
Your words give light


It gives understanding
To the simple” Psalm 119:130


So no matter what things
LOOK LIKE on social media
ALWAYS REMEMBER


You are
NOT missing out
On anything


You are EXACTLY
WHERE you are
MEANT TO BE

Have you ever knelt
Down on your knees
And pleaded to God
For something-in prayer


I get down on my knees
Several times each day


Sometimes to say thank you
And PRAISE GOD


Sometimes to PRAY
For another human being


And sometimes to PLEAD
With God
For something-I think I need


“I pleaded-and the spirit of wisdom
CAME TO ME” Wisdom 7:7


Pleading-kind of means-SURRENDERING-
And we are told
In today's world
That we are


To be in CONTROL
And that we are NOT to
Surrender to anything


I beg to differ


It is ONLY when
I got down on my knees
And SURRENDERED myself and my life
To God


That my life
BEGAN to make any sense to me


It was ONLY
At the end of myself
And the beginning of God


That life began
To make any sense to me


“The fear of the Lord
Is the beginning of WISDOM


ALL who follow
His precepts
Have good understanding


To him
Belongs eternal praise” Psalm 111:10


“When pride comes
Then comes disgrace


But with humility
COMES WISDOM” Proverbs 11:2


I mean
Which of us
Doesn't like to be in charge


Which of us
Doesn't like to be in control
Of our own lives


It takes a lot of FAITH
It takes a lot of TRUST
And it takes a lot of HUMILITY
To turn our lives
OVER to God


“Do nothing
Out of selfish ambition
Or vain conceit


Rather-IN HUMILITY-
Value others ABOVE yourselves


NOT looking
To your own interests


But each of you
To the interests of others” Philippians 2:2-4


We have to move
BEYOND-our own selfish interests
And we have to
Let go of our own ego


By losing ourselves
We find guidance
Through HOLY WISDOM and the Holy Spirit
Which leads to HOLINESS


“Make every effort
To live in peace with everyone
And try to be HOLY


Without holiness
NO ONE will see the Lord” Hebrews 12:14


How about that
So some questions remain:


Are you ready
To PLEAD for humility and HOLY WISDOM?


Are we ready
To give up CONTROL
Of our life


And hand ourselves over to God
And his HOLY WISDOM and HOLY SPIRIT?


In order
To TRULY FIND OURSELVES


For in reality
This is the only way
It can be truly done

In a SURPRISING HUG=a firm
Hand shake=a great CONVERSATION=
Or maybe when you-
Take the OPPORTUNITY
To FILL someone's NEED


“The kingdom of HEAVEN
Is like a treasure
BURIED in a field


Which a person finds
And hides again


And out of JOY
Goes and sells
All that he has


And buys the field” Matthew 13:44


The UNEXPECTED MOMENTS
OF LIFE=
The kingdom moments
Of God


“The Lord
Has established the throne
In heaven


And his KINGDOM
Rules over all” Psalm 103:19


“Even so
When you see
These things happening


You know
That the KINGDOM OF GOD

“Listen my dear
BROTHERS and sisters


Has not God chosen
Those who are poor
In the eyes

To be rich in faith

Likes to look=
In money and in power


Money and power
Doesn't bring LASTING JOY


It is in a CHILD'S SMILE
It is in the beauty of NATURE=
The crystal BLUE OCEAN-
The bright YELLOW SUN


In nature=in LIFE
That is what brings
The LASTING JOY
In this world


It is in the
LITTLE THINGS of life
That we recognize
GOD'S PRESENCE


“Surely you
Have granted him
Unending blessings


And made him glad
With the JOY
Of your PRESENCE” Psalm 21:6


So look for God
In the
UNEXPECTED MOMENTS OF LIFE


NOT in money and power
In this life

WHO'S IN CONTROL

WITNESS

WHO’S IN CONTROL










Who is in control
Of your life


Many of us
Think we are in control of our own life
Or at least
We like to think so


But just think about it
In the course of an ordinary day
When our day
Doesn’t go---or turn out
The way we had planned


How quickly
We get angry---lose our temper
Or flip someone an obscene gesture


Proverbs 29:11 says,
“A fool gives vent
To his anger
But a wise man
Keeps himself under control”




And that’s
Just what can happen
In the course of an ordinary day


What about the big stuff
What if we get an unexpected health diagnosis
What if we have financial obligations
That we can’t meet
What if
We can’t feed our families
What if our significant other
Is having an affair


Who is in control
When bad things
Or unexpected things happen in our life


Who is control then


We are deceiving ourselves
If we think
We can control our life


“The mind of a sinful man
is death
But the mind
Controlled by the spirit is life and peace
The sinful mind
Is hostile to God


It does not submit
To God’s law---nor can it do so
Those controlled by the sinful nature
Cannot please God


You however
Are NOT controlled by the sinful nature
But by the SPIRIT
If the spirit of God
Lives in you” Romans 8:6-9


I think of Saint Peter’s answer
For all the Apostles
When Jesus asked,
“You do not want to leave me too do you?”


Saint Peter said,
“Lord, to whom shall we go
You have the words of eternal life
We believe and KNOW
That you are the HOLY ONE of God” John6:67-69


Who or What will you and I run to
When the difficult times come


All we need to do
Is look back to the past difficult times
Of our life
And remember he HEALING
That we experienced before


We just need to turn
Our eyes and thoughts back to God
The SOURCE of everything good, pure, and HOLY
The CREATOR of life itself


SO WHOSE IN CONTROL


The one true creator of us all,


“By the 7^th day
God had finished the work
He had been doing


So on the 7^th day he rested
From all the work


And God BLESSED the 7^th day
And made it HOLY
Because on it
He rested from ALL the work of creating
He had done” Genesis 2:2-3

FACE TO FACE meeting
With God?


Or maybe a SIT
DOWN meeting with Jesus=
Where you could ask him
Why this happened-
Or why that happened?


Today=we read about someone
Who did just that=MOSES


“On seeing the column
Of cloud
Stand at the entrance
Of the tent


All the people would rise
And worship
At the entrance
Of their own tents


The Lord used to speak
To MOSES=FACE TO FACE
As one man
Speaks to another” Exodus 33:10-11


“The Lord would speak
To Moses=FACE TO FACE
As one
Speaks to a FRIEND” Exodus 33:11


That is right=God=is YOUR FRIEND
And every day
When you sit down
To PRAY


Though you CANNOT see him
You can SHARE your
INNER most thoughts and feelings
With God
And him with you


All we have to do
Is LISTEN=open up our hearts
And mind=and listen to God


Man-to-man
One-on-one
FACE-TO-FACE


“Many Lord are asking
'Who will
Bring us prosperity?'


Let the light
Of your FACE

“He who vindicates me
Is near

Will bring charges

There is
So much darkness
So much evil
In this world


It is a WONDER
IF any of us

We have to experience

How much we depend on it


We have been living
In total darkness for so long


It is refreshing
When we see an ORIGINAL
And someone in authority
And living HUMBLY-

Seeing the light of God

CLOSER TO OURSELVES=

ANXIETY is common
In today's world=it is
Something we all DEAL WITH
In one form=or another


And yet I feel
As we GROW AND MATURE
And become closer
To ourselves


We become CLOSER TO GOD
And deal with our anxiety
BETTER than we used to


“.......Tablets that were made
By God=
Having inscriptions


On them=
That were engraved
By God himself........” Exodus 32:16


Today we celebrate the
FEAST of saint Martha=
Who is very ANXIOUS
As we read
In Luke 10


Jesus-in fact-tells her
She is ANXIOUS or at
Least worried


“Martha-Martha=
The Lord answered
'You are WORRIED and upset
About many things=
But few things
Are needed-------


Or indeed only one


Mary has chosen
What is better
And it will not be
Taken away from her'” Luke 10:41-42


Mary was INTENT on
LISTENING to Jesus
And hearing the WORD OF GOD


Becoming CLOSER TO OURSELVES
Becoming CLOSER TO GOD


Martha must have taken
Jesus to HEART


Because later on
In John12
She utters ONE of the greatest
Gospel statements of FAITH


When it appears
Her brother Lazarus
Has died=
Jesus says to her


“I am the RESURRECTION
And the life


The one who believes
In me=WILL LIVE
Even though they die


And whoever LIVES
By believing in me
Will never die


Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26


“Yes Lord'=Martha replied
'I BELIEVE
That you are the MESSIAH
The SON OF GOD


Who is to come
Into the world'” John 11:27


As we all know=the
BROTHER of Martha and Mary
Was brought back to life
By Jesus


May we all deal
With our ANXIETY
Like Martha did


By becoming
CLOSER TO OURSELVES
By becoming
CLOSER to God


Miracles still HAPPEN!
In today's world


And even if we are
ANXIOUS and troubled
Let us become LIVING TABLETS


That REVEAL God and Jesus
To others=Dear Lord
We have=COME TO BELIEVE

NOTHING SO HARD AS FORGIVENESS

NOTHING SO HARD AS FORGIVENESS


I believe the WHOLE
NEW TESTAMENT boils down
To loving God=loving others


FORGIVING OTHERS (as well as
Ourselves)=and the living
Of the BEATITUDES


And there is NOTHING
SO HARD AS FORGIVENESS


“.......teach us to PRAY........” Luke 11:1


ALL we have to do
Is think of and
APPLY the LORD'S PRAYER


“FORGIVE us our trespasses
As we FORGIVE those
Who trespass against us” Matthew 6:12 and Luke 11:4


And we KNOW in order
To be FORGIVEN by God=
We need to forgive others


And we need to do it
FOR OURSELVES=in order to
BE FREE=as well as the
OTHER guy=the other girl


But I have to tell you
There is NOTHING SO DIFFICULT
In all of creation


As to FORGIVE SOMEONE=
When you have been seriously wronged


Sometimes I close my eyes
And open my hands=as I envision
A WILLINGNESS for
My heart to change


PRAYING to change myself=
CREATE in me a CLEAN HEART
O Lord


“The SPIRIT of the Lord
Will come powerfully
Upon you


And you will
Prophesy with them
And you will be


CHANGED into a different person” 1 Samuel 10:6


“........my heart
IS CHANGED within me
All my compassion
Is aroused” Hosea 11:8


“Listen=I will tell you
A mystery


We will not all sleep
And we will all
BE CHANGED........” 1 Corinthians 15:51


And we need to FORGIVE
As often=as we are hurt
Jesus told us that


Some people we can ELIMINATE
From our lives
We can forgive them
And MOVE ON


But there are some people
That REMAIN in our lives
And we NEED to forgive them
As OFTEN as need be


“Then Peter came to
Jesus and asked
'Lord-how many times
Shall I FORGIVE
My brother and sister
Who sins against me?
Up to seven times'


“Jesus answered=
'I tell you=not seven TIMES
But SEVENTY-SEVEN TIMES'” Matthew 18:21


My dear brothers and sisters=
There is NOTHING SO HARD
AS FORGIVENESS


But if you are a TRUE CHRISTIAN=
It comes with the territory


And it FREES us up from
The inside out=it can
MAKE or break us
As a human being

We live in a
HYPOCRITICAL WORLD=
Where often-
Those close to us
BETRAY US


I have experienced this=
A few times
In my own life


“Gather the wheat
Into the barn” Matthew 13:30


Over the past few years=the
CATHOLIC CHURCH has
Been bombarded with news
Of the sinfulness
Of the CHURCH


Many people=many priests
Have been HYPOCRITICAL
To their VOWS


It is very UPSETTING=
And has led to a CRISIS
In faith for many


I DON'T KNOW what the answer
Is=but I do know the Church
Tries to do many good things
And I do know


That I have known
Many priests=in my life
Who I am PROUD
To know


And are a CREDIT to
GOD AND LOVE


HYPOCRITES are a part of life=
And NOTHING is worse
Than feeling like
YOU HAVE BEEN BETRAYED
By those
That we are DEPENDING ON


By those=
That WE LOVE


“But I will
NOT take my love
For him


Nor will I ever
BETRAY my faithfulness” Psalm 89:33


“If you take your
Neighbor to court


Do NOT BETRAY
Another's confidence” Proverbs 25:9


“When evening came-
Jesus was receiving
At the table
With the TWELVE


And while they
Were eating=he said
'Truly I tel you
One of you

Of Jesus' twelve apostles
One betrayed him=
The others squabbled
About who was
The greatest


And Peter=the ROCK=
Of the church
DENIED him three times


But Jesus loves us=he
PURIFIES US=and the BEST
That we can do


Despite the hypocritical
Human nature=that we have
Is KEEP moving
Forward in LOVE


BE LOYAL to God
Be loyal to the CHURCH
Or whatever COMMUNITY CHURCH
That you belong to=
Regardless of denomination


We are ALL in this together
We should be ONE CHURCH=
Unified-and PURIFIED
As CHRIST'S LOVE=was to God
And to ALL OF US


“Lord=the God of our fathers=
Abraham=Isaac=and Israel
Keep these desires and thoughts
In the hearts


Of your people FOREVER
And keep their hearts
LOYAL to you” 1 Chronicles 29:18

We all want to hear=
To UNDERSTAND the word
Of God=
At least I know-
That I DO


“HEAR the parable
Of the sower” Matthew 13:18


But sometimes we have to WAIT-
We have to prepare ourselves=
We have to make ourselves
READY to receive
The WORD OF GOD


The seeds are the
WORDS of God=and these
DIVINE SEEDS are filled
With the POTENTIAL
To produce high yields
In all of us


IF we are ready
To receive the
Words of LIFE


The soil is our SOULS


PREPARING ourselves-
To make ourselves READY
To hear the word of God


Prepare your hearts
Prepare your soil=
So the word of God
Can GROW inside of you


And grow to
REACH their full potential
So you can make a DIFFERENCE
In this world


“You PREPARE a table
Before me
In the presence
Of my enemies


You anoint my head
With oil
My cup OVERFLOWS” Psalm 23:5


And that is
What the word of GOD=does
When we are PREPARED
To receive it


It makes us READY
To handle any situation
It comforts us-
It allows GOD'S LOVE and KINDNESS
To grow
Inside of us

To PREPARE

BEFORE we hear
The word of God


We must prepare
OUR hearts and our minds
To accept
The teachings of God


We must prepare ourselves
We must MAKE ourselves READY
To listen to=to accept


And to MEDITATE
On the word of God


So we are ready
To move FORWARD=in life
No matter
What life throws at us


ONLY when the ground
Is willing=
Only when the seeds
GROW STRONG in our hearts


Can we DEVELOP
The beautiful virtues
Of our heart-and
In our lives

JAMES THE GREATER




James the Greater
Was a son of Zebedee
Was an Apostle
And together
With his brother John
Were called “sons of thunder”


“Going on from there
He saw two other brothers
James-son of Zebedee
And his brother John


They were in a boat
With their father Zebedee
Preparing their nets


Jesus called them
And immediately
They left their boat
And their father
And followed him” Matthew 4:21-22


Thus James
Was an original Apostle


We know that James
Along with Peter
And his brother John
Were present at the Transfiguration


“After six days
Jesus took with him
Peter, James and John-the brother of James
And led them up to a high mountain
By themselves” Matthew 17:1


There they saw Jesus
Talking with Moses and Elijah


And we know
That James and John were so presumptuous
SO HUMAN
That they asked for their spot
In the kingdom


“Teacher,” they said,
“We want you to do for us
Whatever we ask”


“What do you want me to do
For you,” Jesus asked


They replied
“Let one of us
Sit at the right
And the other at your left
In your glory”


And Jesus told them,
“Whoever wants to become great
Among you
Must be a servant
And whoever wants to be first
Must be slave to all” Matthew 10:35-44


In other words
They have to prove themselves first


As we too
Must prove ourselves
To be a servant of God


He was the first Apostle
To die for the Christian faith


Legend has it
That he preached the Gospel in Spain
After the Resurrection


That is why today
He is the patron Saint of Spain


He was put to death by the sword
By King Herod


So today-his feast today
We pray Dear Lord
That we prove ourselves just like Saint James


Only NOT by dying
For the faith


But by LIVING for it

However= many of us CHOSE
That we do NOT
Need to believe in God=
To believe in Jesus


SOME of us just don't
Want to believe
That we need to
BE FORGIVEN for anything


“Just so-
The Son of Man
Did not come


To be SERVED
But to serve


And to GIVE his life
As a ransom FOR MANY” Matthew 20:28


Isn't it INTERESTING=
That the SCRIPTURE verse
Ends with the word “MANY”
And not “ALL”


Jesus knew-
That not everyone
Would be receptive
To his MESSAGE


I know for me=
It rings=ABSOLUTELY TRUE=
Nothing in this life
Makes SENSE to me
WITHOUT THE MESSAGE of God
And the message of Jesus
In it


BELIEVING IN GOD=
BELIEVING IN JESUS!

NOW a days
Not only do we have jobs
But we have CAREERS
That we specialize in


It may SURPRISE you
To know
That God
Has a LOT to say
ABOUT WORK


First off he says
Do your work IN SIX DAYS


“Six days do your work
But on the seventh day
DO NOT WORK” Exodus 23:12


After ALL
GOD CREATED the world in six days
And on the seventh day
He RESTED


These days
I do NOT work for money
BUT nevertheless
I consider the work
That I do
Very important


Perhaps more important
Than when I worked for a career


I am working for the LORD
In fact, Jesus considered HIS MISSION AS WORK


“As long as it is day
WE MUST do the work of HIM
Who sent me


Night is coming
When no one can work


WHILE I AM
in the world
I am
THE LIGHT of the world” John 9:4-5


And we
Should have the SAME WORK ETHIC
That Jesus did


Though we
MAY NOT be the light
Of the world


We may be
The ONLY LIGHT OF GOD
That some people
May see


And whatever work
That we do
We should do it well
We should
Have PRIDE in our work
Even if
It is just sweeping floors


And ALWAYS know
That God wants you
To be HAPPY in your work


“MOREOVER
When God gives any man
Wealth and possessions
And enables him
To enjoy them
To accept his lot
And be HAPPY in his work-
This is a GIFT OF GOD” Ecclesiastes 5:19


And KNOW
That whatever God began in you
He WILL carry it on to completion


God will NEVER forget you

BE HAPPY
In your work
WHETHER it is
THE WORK OF GOD
OR the work of your career

Have you ever PRAYED to God
For something specific=
For a SPECIFIC ANSWER


And then when the answer
COMES=it is NOTHING like
You imagined


Your immediate response is=
What is this?
WHAT IS GOING ON?


“What is this?” Exodus 16:15


The Israelites were praying
For BREAD from heaven-
And they received QUAIL


“That evening QUAIL came
And covered the camp
And in the morning
There was a layer
Of dew=around the camp


When the dew
Was gone
Thin flakes like frost
On the ground
APPEARED on the
Desert floor


When the Israelites
Saw it=they said
To each other=
'WHAT IS IT'


For they did NOT KNOW
What it was” Exodus 16:13-15


The Lord ALWAYS
Gives us answers
To our prayers


He knows what is
BEST for us=
What is best
For our SPIRITUAL GOOD


So MY PRAYER for you
Is that when you get
That “WHAT'S GOING ON?” answer
To your prayer


That you are able
To bear with it
And see how it WORKS OUT-
If not=for your own good
At least for
The GOOD OF OTHERS


KEEPING you all
IN my very dear prayers


Sometimes when
We get bewildered
By our answers
All we can do
Is KEEP TRUSTING the Lord
And his provisions for us

No fear of bad news


Their hearts are steadfast
TRUSTING in the Lord” Psalm 112:7


“Stop TRUSTING

TODAY we read about
The dramatic and POWERFUL story
Of the parting of the RED SEA


On how God helped SAVE
And DELIVER the Israelites
From the Egyptians


They asked God to help them=
TO DELIVER THEM=and he did


I asked God for a
SECOND CHANCE at life
And he delivered me
We all need HELP
We all
Need to be DELIVERED


“God has DELIVERED me
From going down
To the pit


And I shall LIVE
To enjoy
The light of life” Job 33:28


“I sought the Lord
And he answered me


He DELIVERED me
From all my fears” Psalm 34:4


“But at that time
Your people--------


Everyone whose name
Is found
Written in the book--------
WILL BE DELIVERED” Daniel 12:1


We might NOT be
DROWNING in the Red Sea=
But sometimes we feel
As though we are drowning
And need to be DELIVERED

FINDING JOY IN OUR SUFFERING
SUFFERING is never fun=
Is never easy=and
I would BET
Most of you would tell me
I am crazy=
If I tell  you
We CAN FIND JOY
In our suffering
Only by UNITING
Our suffering with CHRIST'S suffering
For the sake of others-can
WE do so
But Saint Paul tells us
That is so
Saint Paul ENCOURAGES me/us
"Now I REJOICE
In what I am SUFFERING
For you
And I fill up
In my flesh
What is STILL lacking
In regard to
Christ's afflictions........"                                                                                                      Colossians 1:24
Saint Paul has
MATURED spiritually
To the point
Where he FINDS JOY
In his hardship
And his suffering
That is what
We HAVE to do too
Saint Paul ENDURES suffering
For the community=his community
OF CHRIST'S PEOPLE
We can only do this
By making God=OUR PRIORITY
FINDING JOY in our suffering
And maybe some day
We will SEE the glory
That Christ felt
That Saint Paul felt=
That the apostles felt
"But those who SUFFER
He delivers
In their SUFFERING
He speaks to them
In their affliction"                                                                                                                   Job 36:15
"Not only so
But we also glory
In our SUFFERINGS
Because we know
That SUFFERING produces perseverance

And HOPE does not put

SOMETIMES=we have to remember
When the tough-difficult times come
That GOD CAN BE in them too-
He could be trying to
STEER us in a new direction=
He could be REACHING OUT
And trying to steer us
To his COMFORTING PRESENCE
Our LIVING-LOVING God
Is always present=
Sometimes it is
Just a TOUCH=
A gentle presence
Calling us to a deeper
TRUST in God
The soft gentle TOUCH
Of God and Jesus
We LOOK for God
In the great and POWERFUL
Wind=in earthquakes=in fire
But he is often
In a "GENTLE WHISPER"
As 1 KINGS 19:12=tells us
God is GENTLE-
GOD IS SOFT
Our God is a GREAT GOD=
And is in the big
Things=of this world
But he is soft and gentle too=and
He likes to put us
AT EASE
"May I continue
To find favor
In your eyes
My Lord,'=she said
'You have put me
At EASE by speaking kindly
To your servant.......'"                                                                                                      Ruth 2:13
So when you are
LOOKING for God and Jesus' answer
Sometimes just look
For their SOFT GENTLE TOUCH
In the name of Jesus=and the GENTLE LORD GOD OUR FATHER

LOVING WITHOUT MEASURE

LOVING WITHOUT MEASURE
LOVING someone else
Is a GIFT from God=
It is the greatest gift
That we can BESTOW
On someone
And when we TRULY love someone
We do not use
A measuring stick=
We just love them
UNCONDITIONALLY
"I say to you
Something GREATER than the temple
Is here
If you knew
What this meant=
I DESIRE MERCY-
Not sacrifice........"                                                                                                                        Matthew 12:6-7
In today's reading
The Pharisees' accuse Jesus' disciples
Of BREAKING
The SABBATH LAW
But Jesus TURNS it around
As he so often does-
He turns it around-
UPSIDE DOWN=when he accuses
The priests
Of WORKING on the SABBATH
Jesus loved us all
UNCONDITIONALLY=WITHOUT MEASURE
He gave up his life
FOR US ALL!
"Give=and it will
Be given to you
A good MEASURE
Pressed down=shaken together
And running over
Will be poured
Into your lap
For with the MEASURE
You use=it will be
MEASURED to you"                                                                                                                     Luke 6:38
LOVING WITHOUT MEASURE
Means SACRIFICING yourself
For others=
It means
GIVING YOURSELF AWAY
And it means
You are living
A life of SERVICE
NOT living your life
To be served
As Jesus' life
PROVES so eloquently
"SERVE the Lord
With fear
And celebrate his rule
With trembling"                                                                                                                     Psalm 2:11
"If we are thrown
Into the blazing furnace
The Lord we SERVE
Is able to deliver us
From it
And he will deliver us
From Your Majesty's hand"                                                                                       Daniel 3:17
Jesus makes it CLEAR
That when we LOVE
WITHOUT MEASURE
It FREES us up=it
Does NOT BIND us
In any way
We are no longer
BURDENED with our own
Selfish need to win-
At all costs
When we love God
And when we love others
WITHOUT MEASURE
The love of God
Is MAGNIFIED
In the way
WE SERVICE OTHERS
Dear Lord=help us to
LOVE YOU-and to love others
So that we all know
The GLORY of God
And the PEACE OF CHRIST
In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our ALL LOVING FATHER

THE SAME GOD!
There is ONLY ONE GOD
That EXISTS in the world
And it is=
THE GOD OF LOVE
And Jesus Christ=HIS SON
Is the only one=who
Got it right=to LOVE
All the ime
IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
"This is what=you shall
TELL the children
Of Israel
I AM
Sent me to you"                                                                                                                      Exodus 3:14
God was LOVE before
The BEGINNING of time=
God is LOVE TODAY=
And God will
FOREVER BE LOVE
God leaves NO DOUBT
For Moses when he said=
"I AM WHO AM"
It is more than
A name
It is SALVATION HISTORY
It is LOVE=
GOD IS LOVE
From the beginning of TIME
"The fear of the Lord
Is the BEGINNING of wisdom
All who follow
His precepts
Have good understanding
To him
Belongs eternal praise"                                                                                                               Psalm 111:10
"The fear of the LORD
Is the BEGINNING of wisdom
And knowledge
Of the HOLY ONE
Is understanding"                                                                                                                             Proverbs 9:10
"In the BEGINNING
Was the WORD
And the Word
Was with God
And the Word
WAS GOD"                                                                                                                                         John 1:1
We all worship
THE SAME GOD!
The GOD OF LOVE
It was the same God
For Moses
It is the SAME God
For Abraham, Isaac,
And Jacob
And it is the SAME
God=for Jesus of Nazareth
And ALL of his followers
The God OF LOVE!
One of the GREATEST
LINES for me of
The NEW TESTAMENT=is
"COME to me-all
Who are weary
And burdened
And I will
GIVE YOU REST"                                                                                                                             Matthew 11:28
God WAITED on Moses
In love
God waited on=
Abraham=Isaac=and Jacob
IN LOVE
And God was with Jesus=
EVERY step of the way
In love
And he is there
For ALL OF US
It is the SAME GOD
The God of LOVE
LOVING US=throughout
All of etrnity
"Go up and take possession
Of it=as the Lord
The GOD=of your ancestors
Told you=
Do not be afraid
Do NOT be discouraged"                                                                                                       Deuteronomy 1:21
YES that SAME OLD GOD
OF LOVE=will be with us
THROUGHOUT all of eternity
In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our loving FATHER=THE GOD OF LOVE
