A WOMAN RECOGNIZED
(Saint Mary Magdalene)
Today we HONOR-
Saint Mary Magdalene
Mary Magdalene was known
As JESUS' BEST FRIEND=and
The Saint
To the APOSTLES
"Jesus said to her=
'Woman=why are you weeping?
Whom are you looking for?'"                                                                                                  John 20:15
Women=in Mary's time
Had little STATURE
In society=yet
WE RECOGNIZE her as a
Woman of FIRSTS
MARY was the first person
Jesus REVEALED himself to
After his Resurrection=
She was truly BLESSED
A WOMAN RECOGNIZED!
"By their fruit
You will RECOGNIZE them-
Do people pick grapes
From thornbushes-
Or figs from thistles?"                                                                                                             Matthew 7:16
"This is how
You can RECOGNIZE
The SPIRIT of God
Every spirit that acknowledges
That Christ has come
In the flesh
Is from GOD"                                                                                                                                    1 John 4:2
"We are from God
And whoever knows God
Listens to us
And whoever is NOT
From God
Does not listen to us
This is how we RECOGNIZE
The Spirit of truth
And the spirit of falsehood"                                                                                                      1 John 4:6
At first=after the RESURRECTION
Mary did not recognize Jesus
But then SHE DID=
She was a WOMAN OF FIRSTS
She=Mary-is the FIRST
To see the open tomb
She is the first
To TELL the other disciples
That the tomb
IS EMPTY
And she is the first
To SEE the RISEN LORD=
And the first person
To whom he speaks
She is truly Jesus'
STUDENT=and his best friend
A WOMAN RECOGNIZED
"Indeed there are those
Who are last=
Who will be FIRST
And FIRST who will
Be last"                                                                                                                                         Luke 13:30
"And God has placed
In the church
FIRST of all apostles
Second-prophets
Third-teachers
Then miracles........"                                                                                                               1 Corinthians 12:28
"WE love because he
FIRST loved us"                                                                                                                                1 John 4:19
And of ALL the people
In the world=Jesus CHOSE
To love Mary=FIRST
And most
So in this 21st century=
A TIME for all women
We HONOR MARY
As the WOMAN OF WOMEN
A SAINT among us all=she was
Truly FIRST in
The HEART OF JESUS
A WOMAN RECOGNIZED by Jesus
And by us
In Jesus' name=and in the name=of GOD=our ALL LOVING FATHER
