THE CALLING OF US


Today we have a story
About the CALLING
OF MATTHEW


I don't know about you
But I find it COMFORTING
That Jesus called
ALL of us
To the table


He called the sinners
Like Matthew-
The tax collector
As well as
The SO-CALLED righteous


“The Pharisees.....said to his disciples.....
'Why does your teacher
Eat with tax collectors
And sinners?'


“Jesus heard this
And said.....
'Go and LEARN
The meaning
Of the words


I desire MERCY-
Not sacrifice


I did not come to CALL
The righteous-
BUT SINNERS'” Matthew 9:11, 12, 13


Jesus called ALL
To his table=
That INCLUDES you and me


THE CALLING OF US
Sinners and righteous people


“Jesus stopped and said=
'Call him'” Mark10:49


“Paul=a SERVANT of Christ Jesus=
CALLED to be
An apostle


And set apart
For the gospel of God------------” Romans 1:1


Matthew was called
Paul was called
And we ARE CALLED
By Jesus


To be the 21^st CENTURY
Apostles=of our Lord and Savior
Christ Jesus


I try to PICTURE Jesus
Calling you and me=
NOT because of
Our goodness


But because of our SINS=
He came to SAVE all
Of us


None of us-
Are so good=so righteous
That we do not need
The MERCY of God and
Jesus=and we are called
To pass on that mercy
TO OTHERS


THE CALLING OF US=
The mercy of God and Jesus


We were called to BE SAVED
And to be MERCIFUL
To others


“To you-they cried out
And were SAVED


In you they trusted
And were not
Put to shame” Psalm 22:5


“........Hand this man
To Satan
For the destruction
Of the flesh


So that his spirit
May be SAVED
On the day
Of the LORD” 1 Corinthians 5:5


Today this day=we CELEBRATE
THE CALLING OF US


For we are ALL
To sit
At the table=of the LORD
(Saints and sinners)


In Jesus' name=and IN the name of the Father=who is CALLING US
