AGAIN AND AGAIN
Today=Peter goes to Jesus
With a question
And Jesus gives
THE MOST INCREDIBLE ANSWER
“Lord=if my brother
Sins against me
HOW OFTEN
Must I FORGIVE him?
Up to SEVEN times” Matthew 18:21
“Jesus answered=
'I tell you
Not seven times
But SEVENTY-SEVEN times'” Matthew 18:22
In other words=AGAIN AND AGAIN
There is no limit
Forever and ever
In baseball-you
Get three strikes=
In football=you get four downs
To make ten yards
I WONDER how many
Of us
Have a RULE
In how many times
We will forgive someone
Some people
Won't forgive EVEN ONCE
I am not saying
Set yourself up
For the same HURT
Again and again
But FORGIVE=AGAIN AND AGAIN
And be ready=to MOVE ON
“But who can discern
Their own errors?
FORGIVE my hidden faults” Psalm 19:12
“And FORGIVE us our debts
As we also have FORGIVEN
Our debtors” Matthew 6:12
“And when you stand praying=
If you hold anything
Against anyone
FORGIVE THEM=
So that your FATHER
In heaven
May FORGIVE you your sins” Mark 11:25
Peter thought
That seven times was ENOUGH
For him to forgive
But Jesus EXTENDS that
To seventy-seven times=
In other words=AGAIN AND AGAIN=
Or forever and ever-
FORGIVENESS is so difficult
When we have been injured=
It is difficult to
Not respond
To not retaliate
But Jesus tells us
We must forgive
Over and over=
Or AGAIN AND AGAIN
“FORGIVE us our sins
As we also FORGIVE
Everyone who sins against us=
And lead us not
Into temptation” Luke 11:4
“Bear with each other
And FORGIVE one another
If any of you
Has a grievance against someone
FORGIVE as the Lord
Forgave you” Colossians 3:13
We would do well
To imitate our Lord
And FORGIVE how many rimes
The Lord has forgiven us=
AGAIN AND AGAIN
Like Jesus did for Peter=
And ALL of the apostles=
And all of us too
When we GIVE
The virtue of forgiveness
We imitate Jesus
May we do it=AGAIN AND AGAIN
In Jesus' name and in the name of our ever FORGIVING FATHER
