PRESSING ON WITH THE TRUTH

There are many

SMALL and FEARFUL people

In this world

They feel UNCOMFORTABLE

When we speak

The GOOD NEWS

Of the gospel

When we PRESS ON

With the LORD'S TRUTH

Of love-forgiveness-and KINDNESS

Or when we have a NEED

To CONFRONT them

“The king was deeply distressed

By his stepdaughter's REQUEST

But because of his OATHS

And the guests

He did not wish

To BREAK his word to her” Mark 6:26

Today we read

Of the PASSION

Of John the BAPTIST

And his CHALLENGE

Of the king's marriage

PRESSING ON with the TRUTH=

SHARING THE GOSPEL!

“But they found out

About it=and fled to

The Lycaonian cities of

Lystra and Derbe

And to the surrounding country

Where they

Continued to PREACH the GOSPEL” Acts 14:6-7

“He gave me

The priestly duty

Of proclaiming

The GOSPEL of God

So that the Gentiles

Might become an offering

ACCEPTABLE by God=

Sanctified by the Holy Spirit” Romans 15:16

John was charismatic

And UNCONCERNED about what others

Thought of him

He was UNAFRAID

To speak the TRUTH

In any situation

King Herod made a promise

To his stepdaughter=and for that

John was beheaded and killed

PRESSING ON with the TRUTH

No matter

What the consequences

“When hard PRESSED

I cried to the Lord

He brought me into

A spacious place” Psalm 18:5

“I PRESS ON

Toward the goal

To win the prize

For which GOD

Has called me

Heavenward in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:14

So we PRESS ON

With the TRUTH=we PRESS

ON=sharing the GOSPEL

Despite the PRESENCE

Of many

SMALL and fearful people

In this world

We PRESS ON=BLESSED

By the opportunity to be

FOOLS FOR Jesus

Dear Lord=help us to=

Like John=and your SON=JESUS=

Speak the truth

With COMPASSION and confidence

In today's world

In Jesus' name=the name of his COUSIN=John=and that

Of the ALMIGHTY FATHER
