LISTENING FOR THE LORD!
WE all think
We are going= TO FIND GOD
In the great big things
Of this world
But=more likely than not
We are going
To find God=in the normal=gentle things
Elijah found this out
He finds God=IN A WHISPER
Jesus found God=in the cross
I found God=IN LIFE
In every breath that I take
LISTENING FOR THE LORD!
“At the mountain of God=Horeb
Elijah came to a cave
Where he took shelter
But the word=of the Lord
Came to him
‘Go outside=and stand
On the mountain
Before the Lord=the Lord will be PASSING BY’
A strong an heavy wind……..
But the Lord=was NOT in the wind
After the wind……..an earthquake
But the Lord=was NOT in the earthquake……..
After the earthquake…….fire
But the Lord=was NOT in the fire
After the fire
There was a TINY WHISPERING SOUND”
1 Kings19:9a, 11, 12
Elijah found God
IN A WHISPER
The Lord spoke to him
ENCOURAGING HIM
Sometimes=we just have to be SILENT
We have to be still
We just have to=LISTEN FOR
For the WORD OF GOD
LISTENING FOR THE LORD!
“He will guard=the feet
Of his faithful servants
But the wicked=will be SILENCED
In the place=of darkness”
1 Samuel 2:9
“Then Eli realized
That the Lord-was calling
To the boy
So Eli told Samuel
‘Go and lie down=
And if he calls you-say
‘Speak Lord=for your servant
IS LISTENING’
So Samuel went
And lay down=in his place” 1
Samuel 3:9
Have you found the Lord?
Are you LISTENING
FOR HIM?
Are you looking for him
In the SIMPLE
Every day moments=of your life?
IF you are
You have probably FOUND HIM
MANY TIMES OVER=in your life
Dear Lord=we PRAY
That you help us to FIND YOU
In our quiet selves=
In the EVERY DAY MOMENTS
Of your whispering love
LISTENING FOR THE LORD!
And hearing him
In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our FOREVER PRESENT=Holy
Father God!
