“Understanding God’s Works” 12/22/84
Prayer of Faith
I asked for strength, that I might achieve
But I was made weak, that I might humbly obey.
I asked for health, that I might do great things
I was given infirmity, that I might know what is great.
I asked God for riches, that I might be happy
But I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked God for all things, that I might enjoy life
But I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for, but everything needed
Almost in spite of myself, my prayers were answered.
I am among all men, most richly blessed.

This has been pretty much the story of my life
Today is also the feast of Saint Augustine—who converted to
Christianity—
After much prayer by his mother Monica whose feast day was
yesterday.
Monica is a patron Saint for Christian Mothers and Augustine
went on
To become very learned and a Doctor of the Church. Theirs is a fascinating
Story—look in to it if you have the time.
