MOVING FORWARD IN FAITH=SAINT MARTHA!

 

Jesus was a FRIEND

Of Martha’s=and her sister Mary

And brother Lazarus=Jesus was

A FREQUENT GUEST

At their home=they were people

OF GREAT FAITH

 

Today we read

TWO PASSAGES about Saint Martha

 

“Martha said to him=

‘Yes Lord=I have come

To BELIEVE

That you are the CHRIST=

The SON OF GOD’”                                                                                                             John 11:27

 

But also we read about Martha=

In an earlier account by John

 

About Jesus Childing Martha

About her overzealous HOSPITALITY

Her cleaning and cooking

When she should have been

Sitting at his feet

 

And LISTENING to Jesus’ teachings

Instead of=getting ready

For the=their company

 

“Martha said=

‘Don’t you CARE

That my sister=has left me

To do the work=by myself?

Tell her to HELP ME!’”                                                                                             John 10:40

 

“’Martha-Martha’

The Lord answered=

 

‘You are worried

And upset about many things

But few things are needed-------
Or indeed only one

 

Mary has CHOSEN

What is better=and it will not

Be taken away from her’”                                                                                  John 10:41

 

Do you SEE how Martha

Has MOVED forward in faith?

Do you see

How COURAGEOUS she was?-

With the Lord

 

Something we all

Have to be

Something we all

Have to do

 

MOVING FORWARD in the Lord=

BEING COURAGEOUS!

 

We see the FAITHFUL SIDE

Of Martha in Luke

 

We see how Martha=how

Martha moves FORWARD

Leaving her grieving behind

To RECEIVE Jesus

 

And in that moment

We see her

MOVING FORWARD with her FAITH

 

“’Yes Lord’=she replied

‘I BELIEVE

 

That you are the MESSIAH

The Son of God=

Who is to come

Into the world’”                                                                                                           John 11:27

 

What follows

Is the MIGHTY MIRACLE

Of the raising of Lazarus

 

We note

Martha’s profound FAITH=

Martha’s profound courage

BEFORE the miracle occurs

 

Keep MOVING FORWARD

Like saint Martha=keep

BEING COURAGEOUS in the Lord

 

“Be on your guard=

Stand firm=in the faith

 

BE COURAGEOUS=be strong

Do everything in love”                                                                                                            1 Corinthians 16:13

 

Saint Martha=is the

PATRON SAINT=of cooks=

And those who SERVE=

As well as those=IN GRIEF

 

Dear Lord=PRAY FOR US

That we can MOVE FORWARD in faith

Just like Saint Martha

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name of our ever FAITHFUL HOLY FATHER!
