CALLED TO LOVE=NOT TO JUDGE

CALLED TO LOVE-NOT TO JUDGE

The other day

I overheard a conversation

Between a man

And a woman

The young man said:

“I don't judge”

And the young woman responded:

“I do judge-I judge myself”

“There is NO PARTIALITY with God”                                                 Romans 2:11

“Now-let the fear of the Lord

Be on you

Judge carefully

For with the Lord our God

There is NO INJUSTICE-

Or impartiality-or bribery”                                                       2 Chronicles 19:7

I don't know

What the young man  and woman

Were talking about

But the truth is

Judging is NEVER HELPFUL

NOT even when

We are judging ourselves

I found that out

WHEN I was a young man-

I said to my mom and dad,

“WHY weren't you harder on me?”

And they responded:

“NO one could be

Or would be

As hard on you

As you are on yourself”

And the TRUTH is

As CHRISTIANS-and DISCIPLES of Christ

In today's world

OUR job is to

Love God and to

LOVE ONE ANOTHER

It is NEVER TO JUDGE

Each other-or even ourselves

That is God-OUR FATHER'S JOB

Jesus said,

“A new command-

I give to you:

LOVE ONE ANOTHER

As I have loved you

So you must-love one another

By this

EVERYONE will know

That you are my disciples

IF you love one another”                                                           John 13:34-35

“Love does NO HARM

To a neighbor

Therefore-LOVE-

Is the FULFILLMENT of the law”                                                  Romans 13:10

We are

CALLED to love

Not to judge

Go the extra mile

For one another

For we do not know

WHERE they have been

PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE-

Do not judge one another

“Let the Lord

JUDGE the people”                                                             Psalm 7:8

“I care very little

IF I am judged

By you-or any human court

I do not

Even judge myself

My conscience is CLEAR

But that does not

Make me innocent

It is the Lord

WHO JUDGES ME”                                                                1 Corinthians 4:3-4

HOW OFTEN

do we expect things of others

That we can't

LIVE up to ourselves?

Do we ESTABLISH high standards

For others-and then not help them

Meet our expectations?

Dear Lord-WE PRAY

HELP US to remember

That we are

CALLED TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR

And that judgment

Does-indeed-belong to you
