I wear the medal

Of 7 operations

I wear the medal

Of a lifetime of chronic illness

 

I wear the stigma of a bankruptcy

I wear the cross of many failed relationships

I wear the cross of love

 

I wear the cross of botched medical care

I wear the cross

Of when nothing and no one

Seemed to want to share

I wear the cross of love

 

I wear the cross

Of a lifetime of problems

I could do nothing  about

I wear the cross of love

 

But most of all

I haven’t given up

So I carry the promise of Hope

So I carry the cross of love

So I carry the cross

Of up above

 

I carry the cross

Of falling down

Over and over and over again

I carry the cross

Of not knowing when to say “WHEN”

 

So I decided

To carry the promise of love

I decided to carry the promise of hope

And to carry

The promise of God up above

 

The promise of God who says

“My Son I will never forsake you”
