WE ARE ALL ON A MISSION OF MERCY FROM GOD! In the Xth chapter Of Saint Luke's Gospel Jesus tells ONE of the GREATEST parables ever told The parable of THE GOOD SAMARITAN-and for the record Jesus NEVER once calls the Samaritan “good” But he DOES use the parable In RESPONSE to the question By an expert in the law: “And who is my neighbor?” For the record A man is beaten and robbed And left by the side of the road A priest and a lawyer- BOTH pass by-and ignore him- But a Samaritan helps him “A Samaritan traveler Who came upon him Was moved with COMPASSION At the sight” Luke 10:33 The Samaritan bandaged his wounds And took him to an inn- And paid for him- To be taken care of We should ALL be Like the Samaritan- We should all be LOVING OUR NEIGHBOR And we are ALL On a MISSION OF MERCY From our God We all see Victims in life-either- On the evening news- Or up close and personal In our life Are we responding WITH MERCY? Are we responding with COMPASSION? “Have mercy on me My God Have MERCY on me For in you I take refuge I will take refuge In the shadow of your wings UNTIL the disaster Has passed” Psalm 57:1 “Therefore-as God's CHOSEN PEOPLE- Holy and dearly loved CLOTHE yourself with compassion-kindness- Humility-gentleness-and patience” Colossians 3:12 YES that is what The SAMARITAN did For the injured stranger And that is What we should do For each other in life This kind of compassion COMES from The heart of God And this is the KIND OF COMPASSION And MERCY that Jesus himself GAVE to us He gave us ALL he had Withholding nothing from us Dear Lord-in this YEAR of MERCY Let us be a REAL NEIGHBOR Like the GOOD SAMARITAN And like Jesus himself Give away ALL of ourselves for others There are victims and people All around us with problems Let us live our lives Like the real neighbors That we are Like we are ON A MISSION OF MERCY FROM GOD Robert P.Wallman 10-2-16 Ps INSPIRED by an article in LIVING FAITH MAGAZINE by Mark Neilsen
