JUST PEOPLE LIKE US!

 

Today=we read IN ACTS

About the early CHURCH=and

Some of the stories of the apostles

They are SO REAL=SO HUMAN

 

We FIND all sorts of things going on

And conflicts too=

People FALLING ASLEEP during preaching=

People trying to TRICK the apostles=and people

Arguing over food

 

My friends=my brothers and sisters

There are no perfect churches=

NO perfect people=EXCEPT ONE

The CHURCH wasn’t perfect=back then

And it is NOT perfect today

The CHURCH is=

JUST PEOPLE LIKE US!

 

 

“…….The Hellenists COMPLAINED

Against the Hebrews……..”                                                                                              Acts 6:1

 

Sometimes=we are IN HARMONY=

But sometimes=we are all

IN CONFLICT=

Human nature SHOWS ITSELF=and our apostles

FIND themselves=trying to solve squabbles

AMONG the people

PEOPLE JUST LIKE US!

 

“…….who plots evil-

With deceit in the heart-------

He always stirs UP CONFLICT”                                                                                                       Proverbs 6:14

 

“Hatred stirs UP CONFLICT=

But love=covers over all wrongs”                                                                                                 Proverbs 10:12

 

There were PROBLEMS

In the early church=but

There were SOLUTIONS too

Just like there are=IN OUR CHURCH TODAY

 

The EARLY APOSTLES

Brought the community together

And picked out those=who

WOULD DISTRIBUTE SUPPLIES

Equitably and fairly

 

They picked out DEACONS

To solve the problems=and the conflicts

WERE RESOLVED

 

There will always be problems

But the CHURCH

CAN always solve them=by bringing

THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER

 

People are people

Some are good =some bad

But they are=JUT PEOPLE LIKE US!

 

The LESSON is this=

We are all sinners=BUT

When we are living=with the GUIDANCE

Of the Holy Spirit=and with FAITH

We CAN overcome everything

 

“And I tell you=

That you are Peter=and

On this ROCK=I will

Build my church=and

The gates of Hades=WILL NOT OVERCOME IT”                                                                             Matthew 16:18

 

“I have=told you these things

So that in me=You may have peace

 

In this world=you will have trouble

BUT TAKE HEART!=I have

OVERCOME THE WORLD”                                                                                                   John 16:33

 

My dear friends=WHEN

We live in the SPIRIT

And with FAITH=we can overcome anything

 

Christ and His apostles=ENLIGHENED the world

And BUILT the Church

 

It will always CONTINUE

Because they were just people=

JUST PEOPLE LIKE US!

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the name=of our FOREVER PERFECT LIVING=PERFECT LOVING=Holy Father God
