SEEING THE FATHER=IN JESUS
NO ONE=in this world
Has ever seen the FATHER=of God
But some=have seen the SON-
Jesus Christ
Today=the apostle Philip
Asks Jesus to see=THE FATHER
And Jesus tells him=SOMETHING SURPRISING
“WHOEVER has seen me=
Has seen the FATHER”
John 14:6
No one in this world=has
EVER SEEN the FACE
Of the Father God=not Abraham=Not Moses
PROBABLY just the SON=Jesus
But DO we have to SEE=
The Face of the Father God=
To know EXACTLY=who he is?
He EMBODIES the same qualities
As his Son=Jesus Christ=love=forgiveness
And KINDNESS=in an INFINITE WAY
Jesus tells us some BEAUTIFUL THINGS
In John 14=SEEING THE FATHER=IN JESUS
Not only Philip=But Thomas asks
SOMETHING of Jesus as well
“Thomas said to him’=
‘Lord we DON’T KNOW
Where you are going=so
HOW can we KNOW the way?’”
John 14:5
“Jesus answered’=
‘I AM the way=
And the truth=and the life
No one comes=TO THE FATHER
Except through me
If you really know me
You will know=MY FATHER as well
From now on=you do KNOW HIM
And have seen him’”
John
14:6-7
How GREAT is it=to know Jesus
How great is it=to KNOW THE FATHER
Knowing one=is KNOWING THE OTHER
They BOTH are perfect love
The apostles were BLESSED=
They could PHYSICALLY see Jesus
Unlike us=who can=ONLY KNOW Jesus
In the Eucharist=and in faith
Nevertheless we do KNOW
The face of God=SEEING THE FATHER
IN JESUS=Knowing the Father
“My heart=says of you=
‘SEEK HIS FACE!’=
Your face Lord=I will seek”
Psalm
27:8
“Do not=HIDE YOUR FACE
From me=do not
Turn your servant away
In anger=you have=been my helper”
Psalm 27:9
ONE DAY=when we LEAVE this world
We will SEE=the face of Jesus=and if
We are FORTUNATE=the FACE of THE FATHER
And they will say=to us
“WELL DONE=
GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT”
Matthew 25:21
SEEING THE FATHER=IN JESSUS
Seeing them BOTH TOGETHER=I will
WAIT a lifetime for them
I hope you will too!
In Jesus’ name=and in the name=OF HIS FATHER=THE HOLY FATHER
