OUTSIDE of the guidelines
Of marriage?


“For God does NOT call us
To IMPURITY-
But to HOLINESS” 1 Thessalonians 4:7


The pagan culture
In which the Greek culture lived
Had LITTLE REGARD for chastity


So the community
That Paul had-had to be REMINDED
That they were called
To LIVE a COUNTER-CULTURAL LIFE


They were NOT called
To live an ACTIVE-
Sexually promiscuous life
But ONE OF HOLINESS


Living a HOLY LIFE
Living a MORAL life
With INTEGRITY


“May INTEGRITY and UPRIGHTNESS
PROTECT ME


Because MY HOPE-Lord-
Is in you” Psalm 25:21


“Righteousness-
GUARDS the person of INTEGRITY


But wickedness-
Overthrows the sinner” Proverbs 13:6


“Now this is OUR BOAST
Our CONSCIENCE TESTIFIES
That we have conducted ourselves


In the world
With INTEGRITY and godly sincerity” 2 Corinthians 1:12


It is NOT EASY
To live with chastity-integrity-
Sexual PURITY=and HOLINESS
In this 21^st century


To LIVE the
COUNTER-CULTURAL LIFE


When NO ONE ELSE
Is doing it
There is LITTLE SUPPORT
For this type of life
In our CONTEMPORARY CULTURE


Yet we are CALLED by God
CALLED by Jesus
To live a MORAL LIFE
FILLED with integrity and holiness


“ASCRIBE to the Lord
The GLORY due
His name


WORSHIP the Lord
In the splendor
Of his HOLINESS” Psalm 29:2


“It is because of him
That you ARE Christ Jesus
Who has BECOME for us
WISDOM from God-


That is-our righteousness-
Holiness-and REDEMPTION” 1 Corinthians 1:30


I have had the PRIVILEGE
Of KNOWING some young adults
Who LIVE COUNTER-CULTURALLY


They really want to LIVE CHASTELY
They really want to LIVE
With MORALITY and INTEGRITY


They PRAY REGULARLY-refrain
From pornography-
And they SEEK OUT OTHER
Young adults-who SHARE THEIR VALUES


So WHOEVER you are=
Whatever AGE you are=live the
MORAL LIFE
Live the life/a life
Of HOLINESS and INTEGRITY


BE AN EXAMPLE=
And BLESS this world
With YOUR PRESENCE


In the NAME of Jesus OUR LORD-
And his MOST HEAVENLY FATHER

So we NEED
To be READY


What WILL the Lord
SEE in you today?
What did he see

So many of us
LIVE our lives with
QUALITIES that are NOT ATTRACTIVE


Like argumentativeness-gossip-
Greed-gluttony-fear-or laziness


I HOPE God sees GOOD
Things in you today=
Like LIVING IN HARMONY-
Generosity-and LOVE


Maybe even ALL
FRUITS of the SPIRIT Galatians 5:22


“I will PROCLAIM
The Lord's decree:


He said to me-'YOU are my son
TODAY-I have BECOME your father'” Psalm 2:7


“The Lord has done it
This VERY DAY
Let us REJOICE today
And be glad” Psalm 118:24


CHANCES are-all our
Behavior=yesterday=was NOT
Like CHRISTIANS should behave


MAYBE we even
Went to some PLACES
That TRUE Christian
Shouldn't go


Let us ASK GOD
To HELP us live TODAY with
CHRISTIAN LIKE QUALITIES


QUALITIES like
The FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT


“But the FRUIT of the SPIRIT
Is LOVE-joy-peace-
FORBEARANCE-GOODNESS-kindness-
FAITHFULNESS-gentleness-and SELF-CONTROL” Galatians 5:22-23


Let us MOVE closer=CLOSER
To God=and HAVE a little MORE
Of these qualities in our life
EACH DAY


Let us REMEMBER
That God and Jesus
Are with us ALWAYS


What will GOD SEE
In us TODAY?


Let us RESOLVE to make
EACH DAY
A LITTLE BETTER than the last

THANK God-we don't have
To go through that
To SHARE the gospel
With others


LIVE LIVE that SPEAK=
USE WORDS=IF NECESSARY


Speak the GOSPEL
In whatever way that you can

'GO into the whole world
And PREACH the gospel

LIVE by EXAMPLE
Let your LIGHT SHINE
USE WORDS-if necessary

Acceptable to God

There are billions of people-
LIVING-who have NOT HEARD
Of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Since I am COMPELLED
To preach-
WOE to me


If I do
Not preach the gospel” 1 Corinthians 19:16


We may NOT ALL
Have to go through
What Paul did


But we are all CHALLENGED
To LIVE the gospel
To live our lives
In the GOSPEL OF LOVE


Saint Francis of Assisi said-
“Preach the gospel ALWAYS-
If necessary-USE WORDS”


I INTEND to do just that

It is a TOUGH LIFE
That we live in-
It takes an ACT OF WILL
On our part

Yes GOD'S WILL=takes a lot
Of faith-HOPE-and love=
NOT to mention work-labor
And ENDURANCE


Faith-hope and LOVE does
NOT come easily-and life is a TEST
That takes a lot of ENDURANCE


To keep getting up
OFF THE MAT


Life is a MARATHON
To be sure and it does
TAKE a lot of ENDURANCE


It is a case of will
An ACT OF WILL=
Of mind over matter


“MAY the God
Who gives endurance
And encouragement


Give you the SAME ATTITUDE
Of mind-toward each other
That Christ had........” Romans 15:5


It sometimes SEEMS like
We can't do enough
For our TROUBLED world


And even after a
LIFETIME of EFFORT
We are NO better off


Do NOT GIVE UP

The most PROFOUND CHANGES
BEGIN in your life=WHEN

PAY HOMAGE to God and others
For the ROLES that they
Have PLAYED in your life

I think I was ALWAYS
A person
FILLED with GRATITUDE


But I first became
TOTALLY CONSCIOUS of it=after God
SAVED my life=and SUSTAINED me
In life=4 times on my deathbed
In the 1970's


And I feel TOTAL GRATITUDE=for the role
My parents=and sisters have played
In my life


And my EXTENDED FAMILY
And friends=as well as my churches


SO MANY PEOPLE=have helped me
In SO many ways


TOTALLY FILLED with GRATITUDE=
Just to wake up every day


NOT to mention food on the table=
And a roof OVER my head


“LET the MESSAGE of Christ
Dwell among you richly
As you TEACH


And admonish one another
With ALL WISDOM
Through psalms=hymns=
And songs of the SPIRIT


Singing to God
With GRATITUDE in our hearts” Colossians 3:16


Yes=saying thank you=
To God=in ALL circumstances


Saying THANK YOU to God=
And others=for every little thing=
EVERY little experience
Of my life=even LIFE ITSELF


I was GIVEN UP for dead
When I was 22=
Due to a temperature of 108 degrees
Because of gangrene and peritonitis


And a BLOOD count of 3
Due to an internal bleeder


I will be 63 YEARS YOUNG
Next January


FILLED WITH GRATITUDE and THANKFULNESS
To God=my FAMILY & my friends


“OUR DAYS may come
To 70 years
Or 80 IF our strength ENDURES
….....” Psalm 90:10


Thanking God for it ALL
Thanking God
FOR EVERY EXPERIENCE


Thanking God
For the PLANS=he has for MY LIFE


“'For I KNOW the PLANS
I have for you,' declares the Lord


'Plans to PROSPER you
And NOT to harm you


Plans to give you HOPE
And a future'” Jeremiah 29:11


NEVER forget to say
Thank you for God-
EVEN for the setbacks

Where you go

So our IN-LAWS
ARE our family too
And deserve OUR LOYALTY


BUILD HARMONIOUS TIES


And Jesus tells us
EVERYONE that BELIEVES
In the WORD OF GOD


Are our FAMILY
Just like our mother and brother

'Who is my mother

Are my brothers?'


Pointing to my disciples

'HERE are my mother

For WHOEVER does the will

IS my brother

YES-Jesus died for ALL-
And we ALL should LIVE
For GOD & FAMILY


We are ALL
A part of the HUMAN FAMILY

He leads out


The prisoners with singing
But the rebellious

“SHE gets up
While it is

She provides food
For her FAMILY
And portions

We are ALL a part
Of GOD'S KINGDOM
We all BELONG
To the Father-and-
HIS SON-Jesus

What a world this would be-

Do you SEE
The KINGDOM of God
In this world?


Barely-in RANDOM ACTS of KINDNESS-
And in acts of PERFECT FORGIVENESS


You got to STRETCH some-
But you can see it
In CERTAIN EVENTS


“Your KINGDOM
Is a Kingdom
For all ages


And your dominion
ENDURES-

YES-the Kingdom of God
Is NOT a place=


But is EVERYWHERE PERFECT LOVE-
PERFECT FORGIVENESS=and perfect kindness
Does EXIST


MAYBE this Kingdom of God
Is in places like:


WHERE MERCY is given
Behind the walls of a JAIL


A GENEROUS act behind
ENEMY LINES
During a war


Or a HUG between
An EXTRANGED Father and a son


The KINGDOM OF GOD does exist
Will ALWAYS exist=and exists
In the FUTURE
WHEREVER perfect love is GIVEN


Otherwise Christ's life
Was MEANINGLESS=and us BELIEVERS
KWOW that that is NOT TRUE


“The Lord has ESTABLISHED
His throne in heaven


And his kingdom
RULES over all” Psalm 103:19


“As you go-
PROCLAIM this message:


'The kingdom of heaven
Has come NEAR


HEAL the sick
Raise the dead
Cleanse those


Who have leprosy
Drive out demons


FREELY you have RECEIVED

SEEING the KINGDOM of God?
YES!-I see it=I see it
In EVERY act
Of PERFECT LOVE


I see it in every

Yes=GOD'S KINGDOM
Is the ULTIMATE AIM=

And WHENEVER we can

WHO gets the wages?
Of course-they ALL get the SAME
In Jesus' KINGDOM


Dear Lord=help us
To be AUTHENTIC
In today's world


Help us
To SHARE what we have
WITH OTHERS


Do you get it?
WE ALL DO!


Our God
Is a GENEROUS GOD


“GOOD will come
To those who are GENEROUS
And lend freely


Who CONDUCT their affairs
With justice” Psalm 112:5


“The generous
Will themselves BE BLESSED


For they SHARE their food
With the poor” Proverbs 22:9

Life is a MYSTERY=you
NEVER KNOW what is coming

Can be COMFORTING-frightening-
Puzzling-or/and REVEALING


A LOT like life


I usually REMEMBER my dreams-
And they are OFTEN mixed UP=in
Time=place- people-etc.,


Life is PERPLEXING-a lot
Like dreams=and they are a
REMINDER as to how LITTLE
I really UNDERSTAND about life
And even myself


“Jesus looked at them and said,
'For men this is IMPOSSIBLE-
But for God
ALL THINGS are possible'” Matthew 19:26


YES-life is a MYSTERY-
You never know what is coming-
Or WHEN


PERPLEXING- a lot like dreams
Get ready=
HERE COMES LIFE!


The ETERNAL mystery
And POSSIBILITY of life
With GOD=ALL things are possible


“IN the last days
God says


'I will pour out my SPIRIT
On all people
Your sons and daughters
Will prophesy


Your young men
Will see visions
Your old men

YES-this old 62-year-old man
DREAMS dreams


He dreams wild crazy dreams=
That I wish
SOMEONE could EXPLAIN to me


But the ONE DREAM
That I still have=is
That ALL PEOPLE could
Come TOGETHER=UNDER ONE GOD


One life=one religion=
ONE SPIRITUALITY


Christ GAVE his life and love
For ALL people under God-
WHY can't all people COME
Together under the GOD OF LOVE?


The layers=the heights=and depths
Of LOVE


This dream looks IMPOSSIBLE
But all things ARE POSSIBLE
With God


LIFE is a MYSTERY=but
ALL things are POSSIBLE
Under God


“'If you can?' said Jesus,
EVERYTHING is possible
For one who BELIEVES'” Mark 9:23


I BELIEVE LORD!
I believe in one country
I BELIEVE in one world
Under the GOD OF LOVE


God CREATES us and SUSTAINS us

Possessions are a funny thing=
MANY of us think
The MORE we accumulate=the
More we have=the more
We are worth=DEMONSTRATES
Our value in this world


Yet Jesus TEACHES US the SECRET
To HAPPINESS=he gave EVERYTHING
He had away=he gave ALL
He had for this world


DOWN to his last breath=
He KNEW a person's value
Was summed up in what
Is IMMEASURABLE


LOVE-integrity-honesty=and
Our SPIRITUAITY and Christianity


The giving AWAY of all we ARE
All we have=for OTHERS


“........He went away sad-
For he had MANY POSSESSIONS” Matthew 19:22


Today-we hear about-
The RICH young man


The young man=who KNEW
The SCRIPTURES=he KEPT the commandments
But asks Jesus=what he is
STILL MISSING


“'ALL these I have kept'=
The young man said,=
'WHAT do I still lack?'” Matthew 19:20


Jesus answered=
“If you want to be PERFECT-
Go-SELL your possessions
And give to the POOR


And you will have TREASURE
In heaven
Then COME and follow me” Matthew 19:21


My=FRIENDS=we live
In a MATERIALISTIC society=
WHO could do this?


Could you? Would you? WOULD I?


The answer is NO=yet
We know=because of Jesus' example


The KEY to life
The key to LIVING forever
Is giving ourselves away=TOTALLY

CAN YOU look at people
OUTSIDE of your own group
And still MARVEL at their faith?


“O woman-GREAT is

That is WHERE we pick up
TODAY'S GOSPEL


What is REMARKABLE about
Jesus-and the Canaanite woman-is
That he did NOT send her away


The disciples want him(Jesus)
To do just that-send her away-
For she is NOT ONE of
The CHOSEN PEOPLE


And the woman PERSISTS
In her faith


The woman kneels before Jesus
And says-”Lord-HELP ME!” Matthew 15:25


Jesus replies-
“It is NOT RIGHT to take
The children's bread-and
Toss it to the dogs” Matthew 15:26


“YES it is Lord-even the
DOGS eat the crumbs
That fall from their master's table” Matthew 15:27


YES-Jesus HEALS the daughter=
Because of the mother's great faith


He steps out=Jesus STEPS OUT
Of his comfort zone


How WILING are you?
HOW WILLING am I
To do just that?


Yes Jesus stepped
BEYOND gender and race
He SAW into the HUMAN HEART


“You JUDGE by human standards
I pass judgment
On NO ONE


But if I do judge
My decisions are TRUE
Because I am NOT ALONE


I stand with the FATHER

Yes-you and I-MUST

I am SIMPLY AMAZED-
WHEN I see someone=

I have SEEN it on television
When someone has lost
Their spouse=or a child


I am SIMPLY AMAZED at this


For me-I THINK for many
Of us=FORGIVENESS=
Doesn't come that easy


It is
THE WORK OF A LIFETIME

Jesus-of course-responded-
“I tell you-NOT seven times

What is that you say LORD?
Yes-FORGIVENESS-as OFTEN as I
NEED to give it-is
THE WORK of a lifetime


There is a saying that goes
“FORGIVENESS is for the FORGIVER”


I totally agree-but it is
NOT that easy-and it is something
I NEED to work at


I suspect=MANY of us do

But it is POSSIBLE with God

IF your make a difference=in ONE
Person's life=you have done
A LIFETIME of work


And Jesus himself=tells us=
The numbers are two and three

There AM I

Yes-GOD IS THERE=God
Is everywhere=where we are
THINKING OF HIM


In church on Sunday
In bible study
In prayer group


YES=God is there=
Jesus is there=PRESENT in
Our hearts and minds


SOMETIMES-numbers do matter
But there is a danger
In BELIEVING=that we
Only succeed=when we reach
Many people


1,2, and 3 are SIGNIFICANT numbers=
And they can CHANGE the world
Jesus CHANGED the world with only 12


The PRESENCE of God
IS what it is
ALL about


“Because of my INTEGRITY
You uphold me


And set me
In your PRESENCE forever” Psalm 41:12


“HOW can we thank God ENOUGH

Usually what you achieve winds up
In a TROPY case-and it can lead to
Great wealth/or FAME


But MARY shows us
A different path to greatness
-A simple YES=and lots and lots
Of HUMILITY


“For he has LOOKED upon
His handmaid's lowliness;


BEHOLD-from now on
ALL AGES will call me BLESSED” Luke 1:48


A SIMPLE YES to God
A simple YES to an angel
And Mary embarks on a lifetime
BEGINNING


With CARRYING the SON
Of God-and ending in TRAGEDY-
ONLY to see her Jesus
RISE from the dead


There is MORE to GREATNESS
Than what we think=Mary
SHOWS us a different way


COMING from the least and
Lowly among us


Mary was GREAT because

Mary was HUMBLE=her SON-Jesus=

We LEARN
Greatness comes from the MIRACULOUS too

What TRUE RELIGION is

To LOOK AFTER orphans and widows
In their distress


And to keep oneself
From being POLLUTED

God LOVES the poor

In Israel-at that time-
ORPHANS had no one
To care for them

Under the law=hence-CHRIST'S

HINDERED by language-customs-

MAKES me wonder
WHAT we can do to help
The POOR and disadvantaged
Of our time

From those too strong
For them


The poor and the NEEDY-
From those who rob them'” Psalm 35:10


“WHOEVER is KIND to the poor
Lends to the Lord

INVITE the poor-the crippled-

SOURCE of encouragement and INSPIRATION

Whatever we DECIDE to do=God & JESUS
Are already THERE-helping-
BEFRIENDING those individuals

Into 4 quarters-the 4^th watch
Was from 3-6am


So Jesus is even WITH US then=
Especially THEN=in the cold
Dark-lonely hours
Of the night


So just think how the
Apostles FELT=in the 4^th watch
In the middle of a storm


Jesus got into the boat
CALMED the sea-and
Calmed their fears


Just the way he CALMS us down-
WHEN we are all alone
In the 4^th watch
Of the night


Jesus is ALWAYS with us
He always CALMS our fears=
Just as he did
For the apostles


“THEY were glad
When it grew CALM


And he GUIDED them
To their desired haven” Psalm 107:30


“A hot-tempered person
STIRS up conflict


But the one who is PATIENT
CALMS a quarrel” Proverbs 15:18


“FOOLS give full vent

I have spent many DAYS
In the hospital-
OVER the years


Didn't particularly like
The 4TH WATCH there—so much
LONELINESS-so much stillness


It was EASY to get depressed
About health matters
Family matters-and the FUTURE


But there=ALONE & AWAKE=
I also FOUND God
I also found Jesus


WALKING with me
During the dark hours
Of the night


CALMING ME=walking with me
Just like he did the APOSTLES


“EVEN though I walk
Through the darkest valley


I will fear-no evil
For YOU are with me


Your rod and staff
They COMFORT ME” Psalm 23:4


“Whoever WALKS in integrity
Walks securely


But whoever takes crooked paths
Will be found out” Proverbs 10:9


My friends=have COURAGE
Jesus is ALWAYS with us


EVEN during the dark hours
Of the night
THAT 4^th WATCH=

I can't even get what I want

It is EASY to get discouraged

ENCOURAGE US


To let us know-
OUR FAITH does MAKE a difference


Maybe Jesus is TEACHING US
That no matter-how SMALL-
Our faith is


That our faith is POWERFUL
And worth nurturing-
That even if it is
Just a MOLEHILL


Our faith may be
UP to the task


“IF you do not
STAND FIRM in your faith


You will not
Stand at all” Isaiah 7:9


“By FAITH
In the NAME of Jesus


This man-whom you see
And knew
Was made STRONG


It is Jesus' name and the FAITH
That comes through him
That has COMPLETELY HEALED him

I know I was SAVED
By my faith when I was 22-and
I have LIVED to give
ANOTHER 40 years of TESTIMONY


NURTURING and strengthening
Our faith takes us all=
IT TAKES COMMUNITY


A COMMUNITY of a church-
And a community of churches
To BEGIN to make change


We need realize=we need
To bump up AGAINST other people
To BUILD UP FAITH
To CREATE and make change
In this world


Let us BUILD UP
The community of FAITH together


We need to PRAY PRIVATELY TOO
But we need to build up
The COMMUNITY OF FAITH


“There is a TIME for everything

And on this ROCK

He takes care of your and me


And then-of course-we have-
The story of Abraham and Isaac=but
God PROVIDED the lamb=at the
Last minute=in place of Isaac


“Isaac spoke up and said to
His father
'Father?'


'Yes my son,' Abraham replied


'The fire and wood are here,'
Isaac said-
'But WHERE is the lamb
For the burnt offering?'


Abraham answered-
'GOD himself will PROVIDE
The LAMB
For the burnt offering'


And the two of them
WENT on together” Genesis 22:7-8


And at the last minute
God did PROVIDE the lamb
Thus SAVING ISAAC


And GOD will PROVIDE
For you and me


He WILL give us
WHAT we NEED
When we did it


Each time my bank account
Is near EMPTY
God provides for me-often times-
THROUGH family or friends


So LET US continue
To GIVE from our scarcity
And God will provide us
With MORE BOUNTY to give


“You crown the year
With your BOUNTY


And your carts
OVERFLOW with abundance” Psalm 65:11


“Your PEOPLE settled in it
And from your BOUNTY


God-you PROVIDED
For the POOR” Psalm 68:10


“I will SATISFY the priests
With abundance


And my people
Will be FILLED
With my BOUNTY


Declares the Lord” Jeremiah 31:14


I am a person
With very little RESOURCES


God has PROVIDED for me
ALL MY LIFE


Thank YOU GOD
Thank you family and friends


God will provide
I AM LIVING TESTAMENT


In the name of JESUS-our Lord-

THE AUTHOR OF LIFE




Do you know
What an AUTHOR is


The word “author” is defined as
“One who originates or creates; SOURCE”


And that is WHAT our God is
THE SOURCE
The CREATOR of this world
And I have to wonder
How he FEELS about us
In today's world


BEGINNING with Adam-us men-
have made a mess
Out of this world


And with the example of HIS SON-Jesus Christ
He showed us
HOW to get things right


The PERFECT LAMB
The perfect example
For us on how to live


OUR GOD
Is THE AUTHOR of life
His Son-Jesus
Is the perfect example of
How to live
With PERFECT love
With perfect forgiveness
And with perfect kindness


“The heavens declare
The glory of God
The skies proclaim
The work
Of his hand


Day after day
They pour forth speech
Night after night
They display knowledge


There is no speech
Or language
Where their voice
Is not heard


The voice goes out
Into ALL the earth
the words
To the end
Of the world” Psalm 19:1-4


The earth was made perfect
BY GOD
So that we could
LIVE on it and in it


In fact
The only thing
On this earth
That is not perfect is us-human beings


And God
In the FORM of his SON
The perfect example
SHOWED us how to live
A life out of LOVE


For our God
Is the God
Of PERFECT ORDER
NOT the author of confusion
The way this world
Exists today


“FOR GOD is NOT the author
Of confusion
But of peace
As in ALL churches of the saints” 1 Corinthians 14:33


Think about it
The SAINTS are GOD'S PEOPLE too
And they got it
ALMOST perfect-like Christ-
Our God did


We can do better


We can make God
THE AUTHOR OF ALL LIFE
PROUD of us-yet again


“And being made perfect
He became the AUTHOR
Of eternal salvation
Unto all them
That obey him” Hebrews 5:9


All we have to do
Is LISTEN to our God
And obey him
And look to our model
His Son-Jesus Christ
In how to act


“THIS is the covenant
That I will make
With the House of Israel


I will put my law
In their inward parts
And WRITE it
In their heart


And I will be THEIR GOD
And they shall be
MY PEOPLE” Jeremiah 31:33
(repeated in Hebrews 8:10)


So let us get it RIGHT
ONCE AGAIN
As they did
After the Resurrection


Let us listen
To our God
Let us obey
And FOLLOW the example of Christ


So that we can make
Our God
THE AUTHOR OF LIFE


NOT only proud of his creation
The earth


But PROUD of HIS people
ONCE AGAIN

Life is FULL of
Twists and turns=ups and downs=
You just never know
What is coming next


Which makes the PATH OF FAITH
Very difficult=which makes it
INCUMBENT on us=
To LIVE with lots of FAITH


WAIT and SEE which way
LIFE IS TURNING


Live with PATIENCE


“They waited-
NOT for his counsel” Psalm 106:13


In one breath-
LIFE can leave you
DISCOURAGED & PERPLEXED


We need COMPANIONS and TEACHERS
Along the way=particularly those
That teach us PATIENCE


WAIT & SEE


“WAIT for the Lord
Be strong-and-
Take HEART


And WAIT for the Lord” Psalm 27:14


“I WAIT for the Lord-
My whole being WAITS


And in his word
I PUT MY HOPE” Psalm 130:5


“Not only so
But we ourselves
Who have the first fruits
Of the SPIRIT


Groan inwardly
As we WAIT eagerly
For our adoption
To SONSHIP


The redemption of our bodies” Romans 8:23


I have had many TEACHERS-
Many ENCOURAGERS in this life


But none so important as those-
Who taught me PATIENCE-
Those who taught me
NOT to give up on myself


WHEN things were going all wrong=
GOD never gave up on me
My FAMILY never gave up
On me


And I never gave up
On myself
Though I came dangerously close


WAIT and SEE
Don't give up
The VALUE of PATIENCE
Is extremely important
In your life


“A person's wisdom
YIELDS PATIENCE


It is to ONE'S GLORY
To OVERLOOK an offense” Proverbs 19:11


“Then Isaiah said-
'Hear now-you house of David


IS it not enough
To TRY
The patience of humans?


Will you try
The PATIENCE OF GOD also?'” Isaiah 7:13


WAIT & SEE
DON'T give up on yourself
Or on God


GOOD THINGS are yet to come


God has a PLAN for
YOUR LIFE=and that is ALL
You NEED to know


TRY to hang on-it will
COME-you will FIND SUCCESS
In your life

Of the SPIRIT

BEING CONTENT=EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED


In today's reading-
We READ about
Aaron and Miriam
Being JEALOUS


That the LORD-
SPEAKS so PLAINLY
Through Moses=and not them


“........Face to face I speak to him
PLAINLY and not in riddles” Numbers 12:8


How about you-have you
Ever been JEALOUS or envious
Of the talent-or-BLESSINGS
That another has received


It is EASY to do


But if we DEDICATE ourselves to God
And concentrate on our own PURPOSE
We can be CONTENT
With our own talents and blessings


“The fear of the Lord
LEADS to life


Then one rests CONTENT-
Untouched by trouble” Proverbs 19:23


“I know
WHAT it is to be
In NEED


And I know
What it is to have plenty


I have LEARNED the secret
Of BEING CONTENT
In any and EVERY situation


Whether well fed or hungry
WHETHER living in plenty
Or in want


I can DO ALL things
Through him
Who GIVES me strength” Philippians 4:12-13


BE CONTENT within yourself
God gives you what you need
EXACTLY when you NEED IT


I have NEVER been married-
Nor have I had my own children


YET I am not bitter=
I am HAPPY for those who
HAVE beautiful spouses-FAMILIES-
And their own children


NO NEED for me to feel jealous
God has BLESSED me in
COUNTLESS other ways=with beautiful parents-
Siblings-and nieces


I am happy=
I AM CONTENT


God ALWAYS gives us what
We need
WHEN we need it


God chastises Aaron and Miriam
For their jealousy


But our TASK in life is
To LEARN to LOVE
What we have=
To be CONTENT in all things


Be CONTENT=be happy=GOD will
GIVE you what you need
When you NEED IT


“And when you PRAY
Do NOT keep on babbling
Like pagans


For they think
They will be HEARD-
Because of their many words


Do not be like them
For your Father
KNOWS what you need


BEFORE you ask him” Matthew 6:7-8


God really is SPEAKING to us
PLAINLY=and face-to-face


He is right there
With us=HELPING us=


Giving us EXACTLY what we need
For the circumstances that we face


We HONOR you Dear Lord and
YOUR LOVING FATHER=be being CONTENT
With our lives

THE BATTLE IS NEVER OURS ALONE

THE BATTLE IS NEVER OURS ALONE


TODAY we read about the
ISRAELITE people and the
WANTING of meat


Moses doesn't know
What he is going to do
And TURNS to God


He becomes frustrated


“I CANNOT CARRY
All these people
By MYSELF


For they are too HEAVY
For me” Numbers 11:14


Moses FINDS himself in
A PREDICAMENT=that is the same


For ANYONE who has ever TRIED
To SERVE God-by
SERVING OTHERS


You CANNOT please all the people
All the time=and
The going gets ROUGH


Those you are TRYING TO HELP
Become dissatisfied with your efforts


TURN BACK to God=
The battle is NOT=
NEVER was ours alone


God will help us
CARRY the burdens
Of all the people


He GAVE Jesus 12 apostles and
disciples=didn't he


“There you SAW
How the Lord-
Your God CARRIED you


As a FATHER
CARRIES his son


ALL the way you went-
Until-You reached-
This place” Deuteronomy 1:31


“He TENDS his flock
He gathers the lambs
In his arms


And CARRIES them
CLOSE to his heart


He GENTLY leads those
That have young” Isaiah 40:11


The battle
Is NEVER ours alone
TURN BACK TO GOD


Moses is RIGHT=
He-”CANNOT CARRY
All the people”


But he never was
Supposed to-and-
NEITHER are we


We are to RELY
On the HELP-and-
The GUIDANCE of the Lord


He will LEAD THE WAY


“TEACH me your way-Lord
LEAD ME
In a straight path


Because-
Of my oppressors” Psalm 27:11


“I instruct you
In the WAY of wisdom


And LEAD YOU
Along straight paths” Proverbs 4:11


“Dear children-do NOT
Let anyone LEAD you astray


The ONE who does
What is righteous-is righteous-
Just as he is RIGHTEOUS” 1 John 3:7


Moses MAKES the right move=
He TURNS BACK to God=and
The RIGHTEOUS ONE


Just as we ALL
Should do


For the BATTLE
Is NEVER OURS ALONE

COMING DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN

COMING DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN


We all have HIGH POINTS
In life=points on the
MOUNTAIN-when we feel SO GOOD
That we wish we NEVER
Had to come back
And FACE the realities of life


I SUSPECT that this was
The case for Peter=James and
John when they were
On the mountain


With Jesus-Elijah-and Moses


“Lord-it is good-
That we are here


If you wish-
I will make three tents........” Matthew 17:4


It is=GREAT=the high points
Of life=but we NEED
The COURAGE to descend the mountain


We need COURAGE-
To FACE the realities of life


“When Ish-Bosheth-son of Saul
Heard that Abner had died in Hebron
He lost courage


And all Israel
Became alarmed” 2 Samuel 4:1


“They MOUNTED to the heavens
And went down
To the depths


In their peril
Their courage MELTED AWAY” Psalm 107:26


“Immediately he spoke to them
And said=
'Take COURAGE!-it is I-
Don't be afraid'-


Then HE climbed into the boat
With them
And the wind died down” Matthew 6:50-51


It is EASY to have COURAGE
When we are with Jesus ---
WHEN we are on the mountain


But what about
When we COME DOWN
To the ground


When we can't find Jesus
CAN we still
ANSWER THE CALL?


Could Peter-James-and John?


Can we overcome that
Lazy attitude?
Can we be FULLY AWAKE
To ANSWER the call
In our everyday activities
And RESPONSIBILITIES to God-
To Jesus-and to OTHERS?


We can=we CAN
ANSWER THE CALL=for we know
God and Jesus are with us
At ALL TIMES


In the dark times and WHEN
We are at the TOP of the mountain


Peter-James-and John
ANSWERED the call
And we ALL will too


“The Lord is NEAR
To all who CALL on him


To all who call on him
IN TRUTH” Psalm 145:18


“The PROMISE is for you
And for your children
And for all
Who are far off=


For all whom the Lord our God
Will call” Acts 2:39


We may NOT want to
COME DOWN from the mountain-
But we will


And we will LIVE our lives
With HOPE-with forgiveness and KINDNESS


Because of the GRACE of our memories
And what is IN OUR HEARTS-strengthened
By the POWER of the Lord

A hardness of heart


If you have the sun
IF you have the SON


I feel the RENEWAL of my LIFE
EVERY day=with the sun
With GOD'S ONLY SON


It is the SON that
Gives EACH day=NEW MEANING


“They read from the BOOK
Of the LAW of God


Making it clear
And giving the meaning
So that the people


UNDERSTOOD-what was being said” Nehemiah 4:4


Wake up with the FATHER
Wake up with the SON=Jesus Christ
BRING new MEANING and RENEWAL


To each and EVERY day=just as SURE as
The MORNING SUN
Will come up tomorrow


“CREATE in me
A pure HEART-O God
And RENEW
A steadfast spirit
WITHIN me” Psalm 51:10


“You wearied yourself
By such going about


But you would NOT SAY
It is hopeless


You FOUND RENEWAL
Of your strength
And you did not faint” Isaiah 57:10


Dear Lord=your sun-ship
RENEWS our body=every day
And your SONSHIP=RENEWS
Our minds and our spirits every MORNING


“But those
Who HOPE in the Lord
Will RENEW their strength


They will SOAR on wings
Of eagles-
They will run-and-
NOT grow weary


They will walk
And not be faint” Isaiah 40:31


“Therefore-we do NOT LOSE HEART
Though outwardly
We are wasting away


Yet INWARDLY
We are being RENEWED
Day by day” 2 Corinthians 4:16


Because of the sun-ship-
And SONSHIP of the Lord


There is HOPE for us all
In the dark times
As well as the bright
