COMING DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN


We all have HIGH POINTS
In life=points on the
MOUNTAIN-when we feel SO GOOD
That we wish we NEVER
Had to come back
And FACE the realities of life


I SUSPECT that this was
The case for Peter=James and
John when they were
On the mountain


With Jesus-Elijah-and Moses


“Lord-it is good-
That we are here


If you wish-
I will make three tents........” Matthew 17:4


It is=GREAT=the high points
Of life=but we NEED
The COURAGE to descend the mountain


We need COURAGE-
To FACE the realities of life


“When Ish-Bosheth-son of Saul
Heard that Abner had died in Hebron
He lost courage


And all Israel
Became alarmed” 2 Samuel 4:1


“They MOUNTED to the heavens
And went down
To the depths


In their peril
Their courage MELTED AWAY” Psalm 107:26


“Immediately he spoke to them
And said=
'Take COURAGE!-it is I-
Don't be afraid'-


Then HE climbed into the boat
With them
And the wind died down” Matthew 6:50-51


It is EASY to have COURAGE
When we are with Jesus ---
WHEN we are on the mountain


But what about
When we COME DOWN
To the ground


When we can't find Jesus
CAN we still
ANSWER THE CALL?


Could Peter-James-and John?


Can we overcome that
Lazy attitude?
Can we be FULLY AWAKE
To ANSWER the call
In our everyday activities
And RESPONSIBILITIES to God-
To Jesus-and to OTHERS?


We can=we CAN
ANSWER THE CALL=for we know
God and Jesus are with us
At ALL TIMES


In the dark times and WHEN
We are at the TOP of the mountain


Peter-James-and John
ANSWERED the call
And we ALL will too


“The Lord is NEAR
To all who CALL on him


To all who call on him
IN TRUTH” Psalm 145:18


“The PROMISE is for you
And for your children
And for all
Who are far off=


For all whom the Lord our God
Will call” Acts 2:39


We may NOT want to
COME DOWN from the mountain-
But we will


And we will LIVE our lives
With HOPE-with forgiveness and KINDNESS


Because of the GRACE of our memories
And what is IN OUR HEARTS-strengthened
By the POWER of the Lord
