BEING ON THE SIDE=OF THE POOR

The great THEME of the BIBLE=

Is that God is

On the SIDE=of the POOR

That is why God CHOSE

The ISRAELITES=and why

It is at the HEART of

Mary's Magnificat-and Jesus' Beatitudes

“For the Lord-

Hears the POOR=

And his own

Who are in bonds

He spurns not” Psalm 69:34

And God CONTINUES

These THEMES in the bible=

To TAKE CARE of the poor-

The widow-and the orphans=

Those society has LEFT BEHIND

“RELIGION that God our Father

Accepts pure and faultless is this=

Look after ORPANS AND WIDOWS

In their distress

And to keep oneself

From being polluted

By the world” James 1:27

BEING on the

SIDE OF GOD=loving the UNWANTED

We are to LOOK AFTER

Those less than us

In this world

The POOR are economically poor=

But more than that

They may be at

A DISTINCT DISADVANTAGE

In society

Due to race-age-gender-

Health-education-

Or just lacking OPPORTUNITIES

IF God is on their side=

Shouldn't we

BE on their SIDE too

BEING ON THE SIDE=OF THE POOR

“What then=shall we

Say in response

To these things?

IF GOD is for us=

Who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

WE can be on

The SIDE of the poor

In so MANY WAYS

By volunteering=by helping financially=

By staying INFORMED on the issues=

And always=always

PRAYING FOR THE POOR

“Defend the weak=

And fatherless-

Uphold the cause of the POOR

And the oppressed” Psalm 82:3

“If I give=all I possess

TO THE POOR

And give over my body

To hardship

That I may boast

But do not have love-

I gain nothing” 1 Corinthians 13:3

Dear loving God=

You hear=

The cries of the POOR

HELP US to hear them too=

And fight for

The POOR and disadvantaged=in this world

Being on=

THE SIDE OF THE POOR

In Jesus' name=and in the name=of our always CARING=thoughtful Father
