THANKING GOD FOR VISION

(Saint Clare)

 

I have a DEAR FRIEND=

Who lives down the hall from me=

Who has SEVERE vision problems=

She will be 92 this December

 

I thank her for her friendship

And her KINDNESSES=

And I thank God

For my very own VISION=

And my attempts at

Trying to see the VISION of God

For this world

 

“I have let you feast

YOUR EYES upon it……..”                                                                                             Deuteronomy 34:4

 

Today we read about Moses

And GOD’S GIFT=of allowing him

To feast his eyes

On the PROMISED LAND=

His vision was still undimmed

At the age of 120

 

But because of his

DISOBEDIENCE and pride=Moses was never

Given the gift of

SETTING FOOT=on the Promised Land

 

Nevertheless=out of

An abundance of HIS LOVE

God gifts Moses=with this vision

 

And for those of us

WITH VISION=

God gifts us=with many things

 

The sight of a

NEWBORN BABY=the crisp golden sun

Green green grass=

And the blue water

Of our deep oceans and lakes

 

THANKING GOD FOR OUR VISION

And praying for those

Like my friend Ginny

Who doesn’t have vision anymore

 

“So then=King Agrippa=

I was not disobedient

To the VISION=from heaven”                                                                                               Acts 26:19

 

Today we also CELIBRATE

The feats of SAINT CLARE

The dear friend=of Saint Francis Assisi

And foundress

 

She is also considered

The patron Saint of TELEVISION

 

Once she was too ill

To attend MASS=On Christmas Eve

 

So God LOVINGLY PLANTED

The VISION of the Mass

On the wall=beside her bed

 

So now she could see it

And now she is

The patron Saint of the eyes

And of TELEVISION

 

THANKING GOD FOR VISION

With eyes=that can see

 

“Seventy ‘sevens’

Are decreed=for your people

And your holy city=to finish transgression

 

To put an end=to sin

To atone for wickedness

To bring in

Everlasting righteousness

 

To seal up VISION

And prophecy=and to anoint

The MOST HOLY PLACE”                                                                                                   Daniel 9:24

 

I have a VISION

OF ONE WORLD=of one earth=

UNTIED under God and Jesus=ONE LOVE

 

And I hope

Some day this happens

PRAYING for that reality

 

THANKING GOD FOR VISION

Thanking God for this

GIFT of sight and eyes

 

In Jesus’ name=and in the VISION of our HOLY FATHER GOD!
